Peaceful, Tranquil Farm Setting to Recharge Your Batteries
- Minimum stay:3 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
The apartment is attached to the end of our farm house and is surrounded on three sides by green pastures and grazing long horned cattle and horses. Relax and enjoy the peace and quiet on the front screened porch or secluded back deck. Cook outside on the grill and eat while watching the sun disappear behind the forest. Inside we have comfortable sofas, satellite TV, DVD player with a good selection of movies, CD player, books to read and games to play. The kitchen is open to the family room and has a large side by side refrigerator with ice and water through the door, large microwave oven, coffee maker, toaster oven, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and all the dishes, glasses, wine glasses, utensils and cooking dishes and utensils you could use. The kitchen table comfortably sits four and is the perfect size for games or puzzle making. Around the corner from the kitchen is a full size washer and dryer as well as a desk. The bathroom is roomy with a shower, large vanity with lots of storage, toilet and separate urinal. Across from the bathroom is a spacious walk in closet also with plenty of storage. Extra towels and linens can be found in the closet as well as large towels for use after using the pool. Bedroom #1 has a queen sized bed and a view of the front deck. Bedroom #2 has a full size bed with views of both the front and back decks. The apartment is about 830 sqft and will very comfortably fit up to three people. The apartment was originally built for a handicapped family member so it has handrails and pocket doors on the bathroom and bedroom #1. Only one small step leads in and out of front and back doors so an individual in a wheelchair would require some assistance. The apartment has central air-conditioning and heat and there are wood laminate floors throughout.
Outside the long front deck is completely handicapped accessible with a long ramp and cement walkways all the way to the parking area and indoor pool. The lap pool is nearly 40 feet long by 20 feet wide and is only 5 feet at its deepest. The bathroom in the pool house includes a shower and enough room to change. The pool is heated by solar panels on the roof and stays warm most of the year.
Our property is fully fenced and has a security gate at the end of our driveway. Guests will be given their own gate code to enter the property. The driveway is paved and exactly 1/4ml long and with a gradual incline it's great for running lapse in you are so inclined. We also have a 1 mile walking trail around the perimeter of our property that would allow you to get up close and personal with our livestock and be comfortable with a fence between you. We also frequently see deer, fox squirrel, armadillo, gopher tortoises, red and grey fox, hawks, eagles, and coyote on our property. Our property is surrounded by the Withlacoochee state forest on one side, a 350 acre dairy farm on another and preserve on the third. The state forest can be accessed from our property and has many well marked trails for hiking or horseback riding.

We had a wonderful stay the apartment was so adorable. As well as having every thing we needed. It was secluded enough to be relaxing and refreshing, but close to things to see and do. We loved every minute of our stay and would recommend it to others . The host was very helpful in recommending places to see and giving directions.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, romantic getaway.

We arrived on April 4 for a weeks stay. Upon our arrival we were given a tour of the facilities, including the indoor pool building, and our apartment. It was everything the ad stated it was......clean, spacious, and the screened front porch was most enjoyable in the morning while sipping coffee as well as the evening watching the sunset. Everyone there was friendly and most accommodating.....you felt like a member of the family. The "farm" is located within an hour of the most popular activities in central Florida and 30 mins. to the Gulf Coast. The peaceful, tranquil setting offers a relaxing respite after a full day of touring. We have already booked 2 weeks for next March and are looking forward to our next stay!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your review. We look forward to seeing you both again next March.

We stayed for a week and are DEFINITELY coming back! The farm was well maintained which didn't look like an easy task for a real working farm. Cattle, chickens, horses and many other animals are regulars here and so fun to see! The 2 bedroom ranch style apt. was immaculate and well furnished. Everything we could possibly have needed was there and in great condition. The farm fresh eggs were delicious and the kitchen amenities and outdoor grill area made it easy to create great meals. Beds were comfortable with fresh linens and having the laundry right there in the apt. made it easy to keep things clean. We found "The Freezer" on the Homosassa River and absolutely loved this unique restaurant in an old shrimper facility. The whole area was charming and full of fun things to do. Oh yeah... Don't miss "Little Italy" in Inverness... the best Italian food we had since Italy! If you are a golfer World Woods is just around the corner and may be the best courses we ever played. Thanks Debe! See you soon for a great stay and the best massage ever!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for your great review. We look forward to having you stay with us again.

We spent a very wonderful month (February) in this spacious, immaculate, comfortable, near new property. The hosts were always avaliable, and gracious, pleasant, and fun to be around, while respecting privacy. We are nature lovers, and enjoyed the many birds and animals on the farm, including the rooster crowing, and the hens cackling after laying their eggs. You only hear this from the lovely screened porch. (not inside house). But especially neat to us were the nearby state parks, with manatee and a rich abundance of water fowl, dolphins, and jumping fish...plus beautiful weather. We found several sea-food restaurants (one at Ozolla), inexpensive, plus extensive menu at the Sugar Mill...ample places to eat. There are several historic towns, with centurys old live oak, within a 20 mile radius. Finally this is a fisherman's and water sportsman's paradise. Lots of kayaking, also lots of short boat trips available. This was one of our favorite months in years!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: Every since I was a little girl I always knew I would someday live on a farm. I loved horses, animals of every kind, large open spaces and growing my own food. It was a long journey to get to this point but it has been well worth it. My husband and I love the peacefulness that surrounds us here. The sky is big and a night we love to look at the stars with no city lights to distract us. Currently I would classify White Rooster Farm as a hobby farm for now. We have raised long horned cattle and chickens, I grow blackberries, grapes, variety of veggies and herbs. I love riding my horses in the forest and exploring new trails with friends. I am also a traveler and have been to many places around the world. I love meeting new people and look forward to sharing a little time on my farm with guests.
Why the Owner Chose Lecanto:
Citrus county is such a beautiful place to live. I am close to everything I could possibly want. The forest for hiking or horseback riding or the rivers for boating and exploring or the beach for swimming. I am close enough to Tampa and Orlando to just spend the day there. In fact the Tampa airport is just over an hour away and there is not a single traffic light from my driveway to check in.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
We fell in love with this piece of property the moment we drove up the driveway. I could see the potential. Today it looks very different then when we purchased it in 2004, and we are still a work in progress but it continues to get better year after year.
