Thank you very much for letting us stay in Mason La Grange in Bourre last week. We had a super week. The cottage is great and in a lovely location. It is really well kitted out and we loved sitting out on the terrace. We also enjoyed using the bikes, cycling along the river both to Montrichard and Thesee. Thanks again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Lovely clean cottage with excellent kitchen and generally extremely well maintained. Very comfortable beds and high quality linen were much appreciated. The view from the garden was lovely and the sounds of birdsong, including a cuckoo, were a pleasure. Only slight quibble was that although the distance to the small shops in the village was relatively short, ie 500 metres, the narrow road was very steep and this meant that, in the heat, the older, non-driving member of our party was effectively unable to enjoy an independent stroll to the village. Overall, however, this is a delightful holiday let - places to visit are too numerous to mention and there is an abundance of info re restaurants and the like in the guests' handbook. Fitting everything in is the problem!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We stayed just two nights here, on our way driving south to Spain, but would happily have spent longer. It was just as we'd hoped ..... the Cottage is lovely, well equipped, extremely clean, and with beautiful views across the valley. The garden was fantastic for our three young daughters to play in, and gave them a chance to make friends with the lovely lady next door. Anne provided us with loads of information, not just directions and information for the cottage, but also suggestions for markets, restaurants, days out, etc. etc. We just visited Chenonceau in the short time we had, but would love to come back to the cottage and explore the area some more. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1997
About the owner: I am a private owner living in England but who loves France and the way of life. John and I visit the cottages several times a year to ensure all is going well and to have a lovely time there ourselves and with our family. I spend a lot of time painting while I am there and John looks after the maintenance. We are both retired doctors though when we bought the cottages we were very busy now we have more time to enjoy our lovely home. Our lovely next door neighbour Catherine looks after our guests when we are away in England.
Why the Owner Chose Pontlevoy:
We bought this lovely place as we thought it ideal for our visitors. We already had the three cottages in Vrigny and had been rinning a lovely house in St Aignan; however we felt this house did not have the sitting out space which our visitors needed and so we set about searching for soemtihng with w view and with some garden space. Our propeorties in Bourre fit this completely; we have amazing views of the valley, excellent access to the river and village and privacy for our visitors. On top of that we have a neighbour who has taken us to heart and really looks after your visitors. She is amazing. Do come!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We are centrally situated for visiting the historic Loire Valley chateaux; near to Chenonceau the second most visited chateau in France. Away from it all location in quiet village with stunning views across the river and valley. Bourre is the village where they quarried the unique white stone to build the chateaux - floating the stones down the river on barges, Today the cabves are used to grow mushrooms and make champagne; you can also see the old Troglydite houses in the village. The two cottages are quite different. Especially they are separate and you can spend oyur time here without seeing each other! or you can enjoy the company of another holiday maker and good friends hasve been made this way. Maison Requin is higher with a balcony and tremendous views. Maiso la Grange has a seclided terrace under the cherry tree (shade on hot days). There is a large garden shared by the two cottages. We are in the village but up the huill (a short steep walk down for your croissants) and just beyond themain road is the river Cher with its tow path where you can walk right along to Mnotricbard or St Aignan. Up the road are the woods. Along the road towards Chenonceaux (10 min drive) and Tours (half an hour) is Montrichard with everything you could need(excellent supermarkets, shops, market, restaurants. There are now two village restaurants - a steak grill and a posh chateau restaurant. We are central for the Loire Valley castles and for the vineyards. What more?
