Green Lake apartment description
Stay in a historic 1916 Craftsman in the famous Green Lake neighborhood of Seattle. This unique one bedroom unit is a garden apartment, with plenty of windows that allow for lots of daylight even when it is raining. It offers a warm home away from home as you explore the Puget Sound area or visit family or friends in Seattle.
The house is located within blocks of the North Green Lake hub of businesses, restaurants and cafes. And only a few walkable blocks from the Lake, one of Seattle's public libraries and the Seattle bathhouse theater.
There is always something blooming on the property. Early spring finds daffodils and crocuses exploding with color. Later in the spring enjoy the pink blooms of the two Japanese cherry trees in the front of the house. In late spring/early summer enjoy the blooming rhododendrons that surround the property. If you are lucky you may catch the beautiful scent of either the white Rosa Robusta or the Asiatic lilies in late June. Towards the end of summer, in the backyard, you can enjoy the 20 foot rose of Sharon bush, which is a type of hibiscus.
The unit is amply supplied with things to make this your home away from home. Board games for the evening and all the kitchen appliances and utensils you need to cook dinner or make breakfast. If you are missing something just knock on the door upstairs and I will see if I have it. Since the duplex is owner occupied, you have an instant neighbor to call on if you have any questions or needs. A blue-ray DVD player, HD TV and local TV channels are available for your entertainment, but not cable.
There is plenty of free and safe parking on the street if you have a car and the unit is only a few blocks from several bus routes. One block from bus route 16 where the southbound bus will take you through the Wallingford neighborhood to Seattle Center (home of the famous Space Needle) then to downtown Seattle and ends at the ferry terminal. If you are headed to the University of Washington then bus route 48, just 3 blocks away, will take you straight there. Seattle Pacific University at 4 miles from the unit is a short 10 minute drive away or walk .5 miles to the 26 bus stop and it is a short half hour bus ride away.

- Green lake is the most visited city park in Washington state. It is a recreation destination with a 2.8 mile paved loop, bathhouse theater, boat rentals including stand-up paddle boards, and community center that houses a beautiful indoor pool. There are many cafes featuring locally roasted coffees within walking distance from the rental. Plus, you are walking distance (3-5 blocks) to many restaurants as well as a few bars that have great happy hours and feature many NW brews. Green lake is also a central location to get to many other activities. 15 minutes or less to downtown Seattle via I5 or highway 99, you can get to Seattle Center to visit the space needle or hop a ferry to explore the Olympic peninsula. If you are headed to the University of Washington, it is a short drive or hop a bus....moreless

Wonderful spot to spend some time!
Wonderful spot to spend some time!
Terrific spot! As described in the listing, it was clean, well equipped and in a very convenient location. We had the apartment for the entire month and it worked out wonderfully. The owner had provided a lot of info on bus service, tourist attractions, etc. which was helpful. Also the use of an on site washer and dryer was great. A favorite trip of ours was taking the 16 bus to the ferry terminal then taking the ferry to Bainbridge Island for the day. I would definitely recommend this property.

The VRBO is excellently located for reaching many attractions and shopping and is near a major highway. Within a few blocks walk you can do a lovely walk around Green Lake, take a swim at the Green Lake indoor pool, or visit a cafe' for coffee or a nice meal. If you have a car, you will be able to visit many interesting places not very far from the VRBO. Lovely beaches are not far away as at Golden Gardens and you can pick up the most fabulous pastry at Larsen's Danish bakery in Ballard on your way to the beaches. Very quiet abode good for sleeping. Owner is very prompt in answering questions or taking care of issues. From dishes to furniture, all accoutrements are very upscale and modern. If you have a car, there is easy on-street parking.

About the owner: I grew up in Chicago, and studied to be a Marine Biologist. I value city living and I value nature. I love the amenities available in the city, but I also love the quite of nature. I have lived in Seattle for almost 20 years and love how it has grown into a city that serves as a model for recycling waste, growing or harvesting sustainable farmed or wild foods, neighborhood farmers markets, top-notch restaurants, diverse cafes and abundant public spaces. Within the same day you can experience the chaos of the city or the serenity of nature. Few places in the world can offer this diversity. This is why I call Seattle home.
Why the Owner Chose Green Lake:
I bought this property because of it's location in the best Seattle neighborhood, Green Lake. It has a park-like setting, yet it has easy access to I5 and highway 99 to take advantage of the rest of the city or drive up to Vancouver B.C., down to Portland or across the mountains to Washington's wine country near Yakima. The house sits on a cul-de-sac, where a staircase at the end of the road takes you down towards Green Lake park and many restaurants, cafes, bars, yoga studio and more. The house is almost 100 years old (1916) and I have extensively remodeled and updated both units. The house is my home too. I live in the upstairs unit and am available to give recommendations on what to do and where to go.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
There is a zen sitting area in the front yard with two Adirondack chairs and a lovely patio in the back with a BBQ. Great places to have your morning coffee or evening meal.
