The Boat House was a wonderfully quiet oasis in Amsterdam! It was our first visit to Amsterdam, and its central location was easily accessed by foot even for my senior parents. Banks, restaurants and grocery stores are close by on Haarlemer Straat. The museums are an easy tram ride away. The Boat House has two fabulously comfortable king sized beds in bedrooms on the main floor overlooking the canal. You can see the boats float by from the bedroom windows! Up the stairs is the kitchen which is fully equipped with modern amenities, and even stocked with a few treats! Lisebeth and Wouter went out of their way to make sure that we were well looked after during our stay. The apartment was spotless and well maintained. I would definitely recommend the Boat House as the perfect place to stay in Amsterdam!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed here with our two teenage children for a long weekend and were totally impressed with the Boat House, the owners, and the location. The house is modern, clean, and beautiful with all the comforts of home, lovely views from the huge windows, lovely bedrooms, all spotlessly clean and well furnished, and with very good kitchen facilities. A generous welcome pack of snacks was a most welcome surprise. The neighbourhood is really pleasant - quiet, mainly residential and with a couple of good restaurants / cafes, and made for lovely evening strolls. It's also very convenient to get to and from the station, walking. The owners live nearby, met us when we arrived and were really helpful and friendly. We hired bicycles from the owners who only charged for the days we used them - another sign of their great approach and attitude. We've stayed in several self-catering units for city breaks in the last couple of years and all voted this the best, by a long way. Superb. We are 2 mid-20s couples who stayed here for the weekend. The first thing to say is what a wonderful space this is; a big airy bright living/dining/cooking space upstairs and 2 decent sized bedrooms, toilet and big shower room downstairs. I loved waking up in the morning, opening the full size sliding doors and looking out on to the canal directly outside. The hosts were very accommodating (even left us their museum passes) and the flat was great for cooking meals and entertaining. thoroughly recommended!Did you find this review helpful? We're delighted to be the first to review this recently opened property. Our first visit to Amsterdam, we spent six nights in The Boat House. Spacious, modern, quiet, spotless and comfortable are just a few of the adjectives we'd use to describe this absolutely fabulous apartment. The space had everything we needed - comfortable beds; beautiful kitchen and common space; modern amenities; iPod docking station, access to bikes; easy, lovely canal views and a pretty walk to the center of town. The apartment is convenient to both Centraal Station [15 minute walk] and the #22 bus line [5 minute walk]. The neighborhood is quiet, with a mix of mostly interesting architecture of varying age. We ate at two restaurants of note on these western islands - Marius and Restaurant PS. Both were excellent and just a very short, pleasant stroll away. Wouter was quite accomodating - picking us up at Schiphol after our early AM arrival, taking our bags back to the apartment and allowing us to spend a few hours walking around Amsterdam [after a breakfast at the First Class Restaurant at Centraal.] The stock of coffee, cookies, cheese and bread to get us underway were much appreciated. We will recommend this property highly and, without question, would stay again on our next visit to this remarkable city.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car.
Owner response: dear Tim and Caroline, thank you for your wonderful review. We are just open and we hope to get a lot more of such positive reactions!. It would be great if we could welcome you again on your future travel. Kind regards, Wouter & Liesbeth
