BEAUTIFUL REMODELED AND NEWLY FURNISHED 2B/2B CONDO in secure building with covered parking.
The home, over 1050 sq ft., has a open floor plan, with the kitchen, dining, and family room all together. Appliances are Bosch dishwasher, Viking stove, Sub-zero refrigerator, FREE WIFI and a flat screen tv in the main room and master bedroom. The apartment has a lot of natural light. The dining area window has a view of the mountains.
It also has the most coveted piece of property in the area, a covered parking space!
The building is vintage, early 1960s, and as with most beach properties along the California Coastline, this apartment is not equipped with an A/C unit. With average beach temperatures ranging from 65 to 75 degrees year round, air conditioning is not generally needed in our beach areas. For our warmer days, it is equipped with several portable ventilator fans, and when combined with open windows, allow the fresh ocean air to circulate and cool the rooms to a very pleasant temperature. The elevator is a tad tired but it works most of the time. The building has only three floors, so if it's slow, you can walk up the short stairwell. Although we love animals, there are no pets allowed.
The bedrooms are good size with plenty of closet space. Laundry facilities on premises but if you want to have your laundry done, there are several places nearby where you can drop them off to be washed and folded.
Things to do: ditch the car and walk everywhere. Santa Monica is small and prides itself on being pedestrian- and environmentally friendly. You won't need wheels at the auto-free Third Street Promenade, a stroller's paradise known for its multitude of movie theaters, restaurants and animated street performers, or at the famous and historic Santa Monica Pier, home to savory smells from fast food stalls and the solar powered, nine-story high Ferris wheel that has long been a symbol of the city.
Third Street Promenade: Every traveler should hit the 3rd Street Promenade which is chock full of movies theaters, restaurants, shops and street entertainment. Wednesdays you can also load up on fresh fruits and veggies at the Chefs’ Farmer’s Market. What’s nice about the Promenade is that it’s pedestrian-only, which is extremely rare in car-obsessed Los Angeles. Makes you feel a bit like you’re wandering the European marketplaces, except that here you’re more likely to find an Old Navy or Gap store neighboring the funky little shops. For more high-fashion boutiques, as well as a chance to do some celeb-sighting, check out Montana Avenue. You’ll find more eclectic offerings than those on Third Street.
Abbott Kinney: So much of LA is spread out across so many different areas; it’s always a relief to find a pocket of food, fashion, and general flair where you can actually wander up and down sidewalks for more than a few blocks in a row. Abbott Kinney has such a unique silhouette, low, one-story buildings, none of the glitz of Beverly Hills or even Santa Monica, but the restaurants and shops are a really exciting mix, but a bit pricey too. The culture is young but not off-putting for anyone over 40, and some of the stores are truly exceptional. Most tourists don't discover this little gem, preferring to stay in the more 'known' areas. You will feel like a local here. During the week, street parking is generally easy to find.
Pied a Terre is a few short blocks to the beach, one block to Main, and half a mile from the Third Street Promenade and the Santa Monica Pier. Main Street is dotted with boutiques, yoga studios, coffee shops and vegan bars. Gourmet food trucks park in a designated area on Main Street, so close you can bring your food back. The farmer’s market on Saturday and Sunday mornings is a big highlight. The food is locally grown, fresh food is served from vendor stands, and the person next to you can be a Top Chef from one of the prior seasons! That happened to me!
Main Street also offers some unique shopping - antiques, art galleries and cute boutiques dot this section of town. Bikes, surf boards, roller blades, and segways are available for rent all along Main Street and the beach walk. It's a 26 mile bike path! You’ve seen this stretch of beach in hundreds of movies and TV shows: folks on inlines and boards (both skate and surf) as well as bicycles, the flashy Marina and the oddities of Venice. Venice: Venice Beach is a blast. There is basically a crack in the sidewalk separating from Santa Monica and Venice. You could literally trip in one and fall into the other. The vibe here is quirky/artsy/hippie and acts as a stark contrast to neighboring Santa Monica beach. Home to Dennis Hopper, (may he RIP) Bradley Cooper, Richard Dreyfuss, David Arquette, Julia Roberts, and the new Batman. If you hang out at Whole Foods, (we take coffee and snack there often,) you can spot them as they pop in. Whole foods is one of the best places to shop for food in the area. It makes sense that they shop there.
Besides the infamous boardwalk/beach area, you can ride a bike along a separate bike path from the Washington Pier to the Santa Monica Pier and observe the change in architechture and pedestrians. You can also bike the Venice Canals. Yes, Venice has stunning, multi-million dollar homes along canals. You can sign up for tours.

This location is in the heart of Santa Monica, not Venice, not LA, not Culver City, or 19 blocks east. It IS Santa Monica. Our Property is located a few short blocks to the beach, half a mile from the Third Street Promenade and the Santa Monica Pier. Venice is about 6 blocks away. The Getty Villa in Malibu, just 5 miles away. Drive up Malibu Canyon; the views are breathtaking. Don't forget to see Griffith Park, Rodeo Drive, the movie studios, and so on. Santa Monica is close to everything, you are at the beach and very close to inland activities.

Why Santa Monica: We chose this condo because the layout is comfortable, clean, has the necessities and ambiance of an upscale apartment. It is a gated building. We chose this area because it is so close to the city of Los Angeles and it is sort of a sleepy beach town. We want our guests to feel like locals. Even so, everything about Santa Monica sizzles, from hundreds of funky shops and restaurants to more than three miles of clean, wide, sandy beach to the multitude of celebrities zipping into the local airport and out on Montana Avenue.
