Kayaking, swimming and boating from the boat dock below the lake house provides privacy and adventure. Balcones Canyonland Preserve is located 15 minutes along the Hill Country Trail provides more hiking and bird watching. My family spent Thanksgiving at this home. It is a lovely home, well stocked and extremely clean. The views are great and the hiking was an adventure. The outside shower was fun for the daring ones in our family, the fire pit was a treat, the TV was great for the Thanksgiving games, the washer and dryer were really nice, and the kitchen was nice with great appliances. We spent nine days here and would highly recommend this home for families that want a quiet time, active adventure, or for families that want the city life, as it is very conveniently located near Austin.

Owner response: Thank you for such a nice review! We really enjoy people staying here and sharing in the many things we love about our home. Even with the drought at Lake Travis, we are fortunate to have a beautiful green valley below our home to watch wildlife, take hikes and play in the Sandy Creek. Hope to see you soon!
Perfect house, would definitely wish to come again
Perfect house, would definitely wish to come again
We have been using VRBO's since last 10yrs. for our vacations all over the United States. This house was at a great location, only 25 minutes from Austin downtown. It did not seem like we were in Austin. It felt like we were in Denver (just looking through the window, It was three digit temperature outside). . The picture shows a river flowing in the back of the house, which makes it look even more prettier but the owner, Henry was honest enough to call us and let us know that the river was no longer there, that it had dried up. We loved his honesty. The house had such a pretty view from the backyard. Henry had taken extra care of us. He had lit up the whole house from outside and inside just because he knew that it would be dark before got there and he didn't want us to get lost. When we entered the house there were fresh flowers waiting for us. The house was very clean and smelled fresh. There were surplus linens and towels and of very high quality. He had even thought of leaving some onions and lemons for us. We found everything that we needed for out three days stay. We felt welcomed and would definitely want to come again.

Owner response: My wife and I would like to thank Vanita and her family for taking care of our home like it was their own home. We would also like to thank all of our travelers from around the world who have stayed here over the past few months. The guests we have hosted has made our vacation rental business very rewarding. Our goal is to make our home as comfortable as possible and to have guests like Vanita and her family come and stay here year after year or anytime they are coming to Austin or to the beautiful Hill Country. Being just 25 minutes from downtown Austin makes it easy to go into town and listen to good music, enjoy Barton Springs, and to dine at all of the good restaurants, then, return to the peaceful and scenic area of Lake Travis. See you soon! Henry
Exactly what we needed!
Exactly what we needed!
My husband had six days leave from Fort Hood before flying out to Afghanistan and we really wanted a relaxing and peaceful holiday - we found it here. Henry, the owner, met us when we arrived and went through the house, making sure we knew where everything was and the little things you need to know when staying in someone else's home. We spent most of our time on the deck with its lovely view; the river may be dry but its still a beautiful spot, in fact we walked down the river bed several times which was novel. The house has so many lovely little touches that make it feel homely and has inspired us for when we build our own home. We went hiking at the nearby Balcones Canyonlands bird refuge and ate at Maria's Mexican in Lago Vista -very good- and it was nice that although we felt as though we were miles from anywhere, Cedar Park is only fifteen minutes away if you need to go shopping. We had planned to go to Austin but couldn't bear to leave the house for too long. Thank you Henry and Lee for making the last time I will see my husband for ten months so special!

Beautiful, Relaxing, Convenient
Beautiful, Relaxing, Convenient
Our daughter, who lives in Jonestown, rented this house for me and my husband recently, and it was so relaxing and comfortable. We absolutely LOVED it! The view, even without the lake (the area is currently in drought), is spectacular and so many amenities - soft down comforters on the bed, and absolute peace and quiet. It was a joy to watch the birds on the bird feeders out back. My husband enjoyed sunning and birdwatching out on the "perch." We would recommend it to anyone who is needing a place to stay in the North Shore/Austin area. We were close to our family and it saved us a lot of travelling between Jonestown and a hotel in Cedar Park. We look forward to staying there again the next time we come to visit. Lovely and relaxing
Lovely and relaxing
I booked this house for my parents who recently came to visit from Georgia. I live in Jonestown, and wanted to have them stay near us, but the closest hotels are in Cedar Park. For 14 years, my parents have always stayed at least that far away. First, the pictures do not do the house justice. It's simply beautiful! It's spacious and private - there are 3 bedrooms and 2 baths with walk-in showers and a large tub in the master suite. The neighborhood is very quiet. There is a screened-in porch on the back of the house with a lovely breeze blowing through it, as well as an open air patio and perch for nature watching or sunbathing. With or without the lake, you will enjoy this location! The house is super clean (very important) and well-equipped with all you need to live and you can save a lot of money by bringing your own food and enjoying dining in. There is a charcoal grill outside the front door as well. The Jonestown area is beautiful and the house is only 1/2 mile from the Jones Brothers Park. I'm so thrilled that Henry and Lee have started renting out this home as i will always keep them in mind when we have company come from out of town. Thanks so much to both of you for a great visit with my parents!

My 3 children, husband and I recently stayed at this property while attending a wedding being held at another vacation rental across the lake. It was perfect! The house is wonderfully decorated and "homey". The beds were comfortable and everything was functional. We LOVED enjoying our mornings and after supper on the back porch, allowing the kids to play (and crawl through the doggy door!). At first I was nervous about the safety aspect with such a steep walk down to the lake - but Henry has the gate/fence rigged so that it is perfectly safe to the let the kids roam, while not impeding the view of the scenery. Henry was very proactive and attentive to our needs. He and his wife (last minute) installed safety covers on all the electrical outlets in preparation for my children. The property was also very fairly priced - good value for a long weekend stay. We LOVED our stay at this property - and would absolutely return. Thank you HENRY!!

About the owner: I am originally from Corpus Christi and followed my future wife to the Austin area. We have lived in the Texas Hill Country at Lake Travis for 30 years. I am a 25 year employee of a Lake Travis water utility and my wife is a social worker. I am blessed with having a wonderful family, career and community. We would love to share this special place with you.
Why the Owner Chose Jonestown:
There is something special about living by the water. For us, it is Lake Travis, hearing the fish splash in the lake, seeing a Great-horned Owl soar overhead at dusk, speeding on top of the waves on Lake Travis, enjoying the refreshing water. And then, being so close to downtown Austin. It is easy to ride the train or drive into town.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
What I love about our home is the privacy and natural beauty surrounding it. Outside dining and relaxing in a nature lover's paradise.
