We booked this two bedroom unit for a family vacation with older grandparents, parents and two kids. Unfortunately for us, we had a serious family emergency that meant we had to cancel our planned vacation. We were very disappointed and sad and sent an email and one phone call out to the owners. Michelle was so responsive and refunded our deposit as well as the charge she acrued for the credit card reservation. Michelle had been amazing through the booking process, as I was pretty picky about finding the right place for our family, she was reasuring and sent pictures for us to see the place. It looked perfect and her personal attention and care she showed in answering our questions was truly accommodating. Having to cancel our plans was very upsetting but having the owners respond so quickly and easy to our request for a full refund - was wonderful and speaks volumes as to how they run thier business. Thank you so much for helping my family in a difficult time and we will look forward to spending our vacation with you in your rental as soon as possible. Huge thanks. I RENTED THIS UNIT FOR A MONTH FROM MIDDLE OF JAN. THRU FEBRUARY. IT'S A VERY ATTRACTIVE PLACE TO STAY. YOU DON'T HEAR AN APPRECIABLE AMOUNT OF AIRLINE NOISE AT LEAST NOT ENOUGH TO BE BOTHERSOME. THE UNIT IS VERY ATTRACTIVELY FURNISHED AND LOOKS JUST LIKE THE PICTURES. IT FEELS SPACIOUS. THE BEDS ARE COMFORTABLE AND THE KITCHEN WELL EQUIPED CONSIDERING IT'S A RENTAL. YOU CAN WALK TO LITTLE ITALY BUT IT'S UPHILL COMING BACK. I DIDN'T USE THE TROLLEY ALTHOUGH THE STATION IS VERY CLOSE BECAUSE I DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE WALKING THE OVERPASS SINCE THERE ARE HOMELESS PEOPLE LIVING ON IT. IF I WAS IN A GROUP I WOULD PROBABLY HAVE FELT DIFFERENTLY. I HAD A CAR FOR THE MONTH AND FELT IT WAS NECESSARY. I'M A FUSSY LADY AND I WOULD RENT THIS DUPLEX AGAIN IF RETURNING TO SAN DIEGO. IT WAS VERY CLEAN, VERY APPEALING AND I HAD A DELIGHTFUL STAY.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Although we didn't get the pleasure of actually staying here, I know I wouldn't want to deal with anyone else. I was planning a family vacation for four to attend ComicCon. We originally had reserved the one bedroom, then our party changed from 4 to 7 and Michelle was able to get us into another property that accommodated us all with no hassle. Again, with everything set, we failed to secure passes to the Con. Of course this was so disappointing, but the worse part was we had already did everything in advance, not anticipating any issues, and now had the unpleasant task of cancelling. I was feeling particularly guilty about having to cancel this reservation, with all that Michelle was willing to do to assist with changes (not only did we change from 1 to 2 BR, we also changed length of time, and never once did I get the feeling of annoyance or burden on their behalf!). I notified and explained the reasons and to my wonderful surprise she was FANTASTIC about it. Completely understood, even sympathetic to our reason and encouraged us to try again next year and to make sure to come through them (even after all of this craziness!). Cancellation process was done and I received an email confirmation the same day. Having traveled MANY times before with not just our family, but larger numbers, this is the one thing that you are never sure of when picking a company, and I am VERY glad I chose this property and Michelle. We are for sure going to come back to them and this time to stay!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

As a first time vrbo user, I naturally had certain doubts about renting a place like this rather than staying at a hotel. All that went out the window upon arriving at the property. This 2 bedroom unit is very beautiful, clean, and it is also well equipped! We had a wonderful time staying over at the property and loved how easy it was to get to the various "must-see" destinations San Diego has to offer either by car, tram, or foot! I think the location is top notch. The view of the bay window is simply wonderful. I enjoyed waking up in the mornings with a hot cup of coffee just watching the planes land on the airport. On the evenings, the window has a STUNNING view of the sunset... best viewed with a mojito on hand! I loved the no-hassle process of it all and would love to stay there again. The only issue I can think of is the limited parking spots, when staying with multiple vehicles. There are many spots lining the nearby streets though and worse come to worse you get to enjoy a beautiful 1 minute walk back to the unit. Overall, 5/5 stars. Great value, awesome location, comfy couches, bbq, nice bathroom (i love the water flow out of the shower head!), amenities, will definitely stay here again. Cheers!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

The listing is accurate. The home is recently renovated and it is very clean. The kitchen is beautiful! The location is close to the airport but we got used to the sound after the 2nd day. The owners are great and very accommodating. I highly recommend renting this home if you are in the San Diego area. It's very close to everything! Seems like every major attraction was within a 5 minute drive.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.

This was a fantastic place to stay as we were first timers in SD. We debated about staying in hotels vs a private home during our 5-day stay. Initially, we fell in love with another one of their property that was adjacent to the place we were staying at. Michele quickly offered us the opportunity of a lifetime to book at this one on Palms since the one we inquired was unavail. We were not able to see the full pictures of this property online with it being new and currently under renovation, the wait was hard and we were debating if we made the right decision to fully book without not knowing what was in the home us. The moment we walked in, we almost didn't want to leave to go tour SD anymore. It was that beautiful and home like. The owners were easy to work with. They were very patience, and very understanding of our needs and multiple questions upon arrival. We met Dan on our first day there, as he helped us checked in, because we failed to read the check in time notice (our mistake). Dan was very helpful, walked us through a few details of the home, including answering our late night phone calls on the tv remote of course, :) and the famous internet hook ups. Which by the way, is superduper fast. Beds were comfy and our favs too! We also met our downstairs neighbors, Vicki and her husband. They were very nice and offered many great suggestions on the cities whereabouts. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone except those w/small children like us. And reasons for it, is that we traveled with a small child (2yrs old) and our child when excited became loud, and even ran around the house. We felt bad for our neighbors most of the time due to that. The walls are quite thinned and you can also hear your neighbors downstairs if they drop something or turn on the shower. We also didn't enjoy the noises from the airplanes, but when you get a chance to see the view of the landing strip, ships harbor view, and the night lights from it all, you tend to forget about the noise level from outside. We ate out one night at Na Pizza in Little Italy, very good pizza and salads. And we also ate at Ortega Mex off of Washington Ave. which was very tasty. Food shopping was convenient at Vons. We toured the SD zoo, and we tried the famous Coast Toast at Brockton Villa, also saw La Jolla Cove, just beautiful!! One of the best memories we had in SD was staying a great home like this and taking professional family pictures on the beach. These are the two must-do!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We enjoyed a wonderful 5 days at this newly-renovated home. When we first entered the home, I said "Wow" (really!). The setting is amazing with fantastic views. The home is comfortable, spacious, and equipped with all the amenities we needed. Modern, clean decor made for a comfortable stay. Michelle was a pleasure to deal with, and went out of her way to provide a portable crib, infant bathtub, and diaper pail for our young daughter. Our older daughter LOVED watching the airplanes take off and land! Despite the proximity to the airport, the noise level was not obtrusive. We went to the zoo and Sea World and the location of this home was perfect (so close!) I highly recommend this rental.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We enjoyed our stay at in sunny San Diego--especially this fantastic condo on the hill. It was well cared for, smelled nice (important to pregnant people with super-odor-detecting abilities), carefully decorated, and aptly stocked. Oh, and our bed was perfectly soft, with nice linens: we slept in without the kids waking us up at 6 and I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. (Maybe the no kid thing helped?). The bathrooms were sparkly and updated. It was close to everything. (Only 5 minutes from the airport). Overall, it was a great place for a great value. Thanks and we'll be back for another romantic getaway before the next parenting-related nervous breakdown.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks so much for the kind words Rachel. We really enjoyed having you and the family, and are glad you were able to get some much needed rest! See you back for a future visit!

My husband and I were one of the first people to stay in this newly remodeled upstairs unit. We wanted to stay in a different unit owned by the same owners, but it was already booked so we took our chances on this place. We are so glad we did! It was modernly decorated, had a designer kitchen, and offered tons of creature comforts (electric fireplace, cuddle lounge, iPhone hook ups etc). The views outside the bay windows were incredible, and the location was close to many restaurants and shops that we walked to regularly. We also stayed home and cooked on the outdoor grill a couple of nights. I've stayed in many vacation rentals, but this property helped make our San Diego trip one of our most memorable!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

About the owner: We are a fun-loving couple who have been together for 12 years, and in that time have shared our passion for travel. We've been shaped greatly by the experiences we've had around the world, and it has provided us an appreciation for the wealth of cultures, personalities, and perspectives shared on this small planet of ours.
Why the Owner Chose Little Italy:
Having been to 6 of the 7 continents and stayed in every kind of accommodation imaginable, we wanted to create a special place where guests would find comfort, convenience, and sheer beauty during their stay in what is undoubtedly one of the world's most beautiful cities. San Diego is the only place in the west coast that combines nearly perfect weather year round, amazing natural beauty from ocean to mountains, a bustling downtown metropolis full of diversity and energy, and unique cultural and historic communities sprinkled throughout the entire county. You can literally do something different every day here for a month and never be bored. Its an amazing place.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We wanted to buy a vacation home that embodied a number of unique combinations: modern, high end finishes combined with comfortable and 'livable' furnishing; a quaint neighborhood that was just minutes to the heart of downtown and all major attractions; and finally a place that offered the breathtaking views of a high-rise luxury condo, yet maintained the privacy of a single family home. The place we've spent the last 3 years building has All of this and more! We hope to get the chance to share this magical with you.
