Willcox house description

Experience true rustic, authenic adobe living on 10 acres in the high desert of Arizona. This passive solar home has a great room with a queen sofa bed, oversized master bedroom with a queen bed and a roomy second bedroom with a full bed. This custom built home boasts tongue-and-groove pine ceilings with beautiful vigas throughout. It has large rustic cedar beams and cedar trim, inside and out. The owner maintained the rustic look with skills passed down for centuries, yet blended modern conveniences like quad heatlamps in both baths and heat provided by both gas fireplaces and electric baseboards. The home is nicely furnished with rustic/spanish style furniture and southwestern art. It has a washer and dryer in the hall bath and basic cable tv is provided. Property owner does not provide internet service nor a computer. But you can bring your laptop with WIFI or you have access to computers at the downtown library for free. Cell phone service works for most carriers. This home is secluded, located on 10 acres of pristine natural desert with 360 degree mountain views. It is 15 minutes from the city of Willcox, therefore, renters dine in on most nights. There is 2 miles of graveled road to get to the home but well worth the drive. It's just part of the experience. In early evening. You will hear the call of the coyote. In early morning, you will see Mr Jackrabbit hop across your front yard through your bedroom windows. The big sky allows you to see falling stars and sometimes you will see the milkey way with the naked eye. There are stunning desert sunsets in red, blues and pinks and mornings of blue and grey as the moon dips behind the mountains. A grill is provided on the patio and is it highly recommended that you use the mesquite deadwood available on the property for grilling - you will enjoy a steak as never before. This is an opportunity to enjoy tranquility where you can 'feel' the quiet. If you come by RV, you can bring additional friends or family and hook up onsite for an additional fee. Within a short drive, you can visit the breathtaking Chiricahua National Monument, Kartchner Caverns, the wild west recreations in famed Tombstone, the art haven of copper mining town 'Old Bisbee', Cochise Stronghold, Amerind Museum, Coronado Vineyards and much more. If you desire the culture that only a big city can afford, Tucson is just a short drive down I-10. See the youtube on this adobe home at 'Adobe home in Willcox, AZ'. Also see 'explorecochise.com' for more infomation on the area.

              Owner info

              Year Purchased: 2008

About the owner: I grew up in North Florida and obtained my MBA from Troy State University. I lived in the Gulf Breeze, FL, Charleston, SC and Memphis, TN areas for my career. Following retirement, I became 'hands-on' in the construction of my adobe home. It took five years to complete construction as each block is made on site with desert sand and stabilizing concrete. Staying at the adobe is my time to get away from the hustle and bustle of city living, to visit my desert friends and to enjoy the outstanding nature, sunrises and sunsets. I have two dogs, Missy and Dingo, who love to chase after the desert rabbits - truly an exercise in futility.

              Why the Owner Chose Willcox:
This craftsman's beauty cannot not be found in a typical American home. It will make your vacation an experience.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
The home is enchanting and unique. It is in a quiet, remote, peaceful setting yet close enough to see the big city lights of Tucson and/or to tour the western sites.
