Located in one of the most fashionable areas of the city with museums, art galleries, shopping, historical architecture and beautiful parks at your doorstep, this stylish penthouse apartment is a true gem. It has the rare combination of being located in the heart of the city, in the oldest and best preserved neighborhood in Paris, and on the 6th and top floor with an elevator (up to the 5th floor) of a beautiful building which gives the apartment sweeping views over the rooftops of the city and of numerous monuments in the distance. The street the apartment is on dates to the 1100s and is one of the most historic and beautiful in the city. The apartment is air-conditioned, with an equipped kitchenette, modern bathroom, and clothes washing machine and dryer.
The apartment was completely renovated (late 2012): the bathroom, kitchen, and all the appliances are brand new, while the original elements of the apartment have been carefully restored, including the antique black marble fireplace, original oak floors, and beautiful 18th century oak beams. The apartment is flooded with light due to its southern exposure, two windows and three skylights. The windows are equipped with blackout shades and the skylights have remote-controlled motorized exterior shades that allow you to easily keep all the light out for mornings when you want to sleep late or go to bed early as you adjust to the time change.
At your doorstep are numerous restaurants, art galleries, and in particular many trendy designer clothing boutiques. The shops and restaurants on the street and surrounding area have the unique distinction in Paris of being open on Sundays, which keeps the area full of life, and makes conveniences such as grocery stores available 7 days a week – a rarity in Paris. The apartment is within walking distance of numerous museums and monuments, including the Picasso Museum, the Carnavalet Museum, the beautiful Place des Vosges, and Notre Dame Cathedral, as well as numerous trendy clothing boutiques and galleries. Additionally, it is only a 2 minute walk to the St. Paul metro station, which is on the high-speed modern Line 1 (the yellow line) that goes through the heart of the city directly to numerous monuments and sites, such as the Musée du Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe. A set of English language architectural walking tours is provided with maps and photographs to help you discover your incredible neighborhood as well as the rest of the city.
The bathroom has an antique terracotta floor, complemented with pale white glass mosaic tiles. The bathroom skylight provides ample natural light in addition to the embedded ceiling lighting and an above-mirror light. An electrical outlet in the bathroom allows you to plug in shavers and toothbrushes (an outlet head adapter is provided - please make sure your appliances function on European 240 volt circuits), and a hairdryer and magnifying mirror are also provided. The bathroom is small but has all of the essentials.
The high quality bedding and larger than queen size bed (160 cm – which is between a queen and king size bed) and white pressed linens provide very comfortable sleeping. A closet and hangars are provided.
The white glass cabinets and white stone countertops in the kitchenette conceal a well equipped kitchen, including a microwave, refrigerator, cook top with an aeration hood above it that is perfect for picking up fresh food at local markets or nearby grocers and enjoying in the apartment. The kitchen is equipped with plates, glasses, flatware, wineglasses, pots, pans, a toaster and a coffee maker.

The apartment is located in the heart of the city, in the Marais, which is the oldest and best preserved neighborhood in Paris (the street the apartment is on was created in the 1100s and is one of the most beautiful in the city, paved in granite, and lined with 19th century street lamps). The surrounding area is full of restaurants, art galleries, and high-fashion shopping. The apartment is within walking distance of numerous museums and monuments, including the Picasso Museum, the Carnavalet Museum (the museum of the history of Paris), the beautiful place des Vosges, Notre Dame Cathedral, and numerous others. Additionally, it is only a 2 minute walk from the apartment to the St. Paul metro station, which is on the high-speed modern automated Line 1 (the yellow line) that goes right through the heart of the city directly to numerous monuments and sites, such as the Musée du Louvre and Arc de Triomphe.
About the owner: The owner is an architect and author who specializes in renovating historic buildings in the heart of Paris. He has written extensively about the architecture of Paris, including well-known guides to the architecture of the city.
Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 4: I fell in love with this property because of its incredible location in the heart of the city on a beautifully picturesque street, combined with the historic charm of the surrounding Marais neighborhood (with its famous food and fashion boutiques and museums). Add to that the fact that there is an elevator (only 1 in 200 buildings in this historic area have elevators) and that it has sweeping views over the city and I could not resist purchasing it.
The Unique Benefits at this Studio: Location. Surrounded by museums, incredible food, fashion boutiques, and quintessential old-world charm. Beautiful quiet building with the rarity of having an elevator and sweeping views over the city from its top floor location.
