The cabin is fantastic - we took our three littles (5,3,2) for a weekend trip. Very clean, very tasteful decor. Upstairs has a big loft with 2 twin beds - perfect for the 5 and 3 year old - HUGE bathrooms for a cabin - and a bedroom with a queen bed worked well for our youngest (plenty of space for a pack and play). Bedroom on main level has a queen bed - and another HUGE bathroom with a laundry tucked away in the closet. Nice pull through driveway, makes loading and unloading the car a breeze. Grill and gas fireplace. Owners are very kind and easy to work with. Kitchen very well stocked for cooking - plenty of pots and pans, collanders, cooking utensils, etc. I rated the overall experiece as good - there were a few tiny things that would have bumped it up to near-perfect. Nothing out of the ordinary - just some icing on the cake kind of things that I have experienced at other cabins (we rent a cabin at least 2 times a year in this area). Ample toilet paper would have been nice. There was a partial roll in each restroom. We looked forward to hunkering down for the weekend, but soon discovered that we had to go back to the main road just for a pack of toilet paper. It was our first time staying in the Coosawatee River Resort - we weren't a big fan of the neighborhood experience but this cabin is a jewel within the gates for sure. However, there are some neat parks in the n'hood that would have been a lot of fun in warmer weather. Seems like there is plenty to do (but we just wanted to play games and snuggle with our kids all weekend). Overall, it was a good experience - we would suggest this cabin to friends.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had been toying with the idea of an early February getaway with 2 other couples for quite a while and wound up securing a reservation for "Bear Pause." I'm not sure what I'd say if asked how to have made our stay any better other than to have made it last a little longer. The owner's portrayal on-line was accurate and they were very easy to work with. The thing I appreciated most about the property was that it was very well furnished, equipped, and decorated, but not so fancy that one couldn't truly relax and just enjoy it ... and it's location. You know you are in the right place and with the right people when, although it's there, you can go your entire stay without using the satellite TV!! We were fortunate enough to have gotten snow which really added to the experience and underscored the quiet, secluded, and beautiful atmosphere. We will certainly be looking at the calendar for opportunities to return!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your glowing review, Robert. So happy you had a great experience at our cabin. The snow was ordered especially for your weekend. If you consider a return trip in the spring, there are lots of activities available including tubing and horseback riding. There is also an indoor olympic-size salt water heated pool that is open all year. Thanks again.

My wife, son and I really enjoyed this cabin. It is very cosy and clean, and well decorated. The owners are very nice and they made it easy for us to book the cabin. The cabin has a nice kitchen and living area with a rock fireplace, and we really enjoyed sitting out on the porches. The cabin has them on all three levels. This is a great cabin for the weekend, or longer, and we are looking forward to renting it again in the future.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

It was my birthday and I wanted a little get away just me and the wife. We live in Chattanooga and didnt want to drive too far. So I found this little gem. It was very clean and had everything that we needed for our stay. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because a large group of what seemed to be young adults and teens had rented the cabin next to us and they were (at times) just a little too loud and disturbed the natural quiet of the place. We took a walk around the neighbor hood, seen lots of deer and beautiful fall colors. Definitely on the short list for nearby get aways !Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: Married for 52 years and still love each other! Blessed with a daughter and son-in-law, a son and daughter-in-law and two precious grandsons who live nearby.
Why the Owner Chose Ellijay:
We searched for a home in the mountains, and we found it when we entered the front door of Bear Pause. The cabin was just completed. The natural wood walls and floors were bright and shiny inside reflecting the sunlight. The view from the back decks was awesome. We have loved it ever since and enjoy it ourselves when we can find the time.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
I cried when I walked inside our cabin because it was so beautiful, just knew this was the one! The view was unbelievable inside and out. It is very inviting and cozy
at the same time. There is nothing more beautiful than looking up at a full moon from the outdoor hot tub any time of the year.
We hope others will enjoy it as much as we do.
