Easy access to everything Southern California has to offer... 30-45 minutes from LAX Airport (depends on traffic). Fifteen minutes from Burbank Airport. Take a drive along famous Mullholland Drive and have a look at the Hollywood sign and views all the way to the ocean... walk to the Laurel Canyon grocery store and neighborhood restaurant, and have a look at Jim Morrison's old house. The current owner has preserved many things from those times, including a shower downstairs with notes from women all over the shower wall with things like 'I love you Jim!' scrawled haphazardly.
This house was built in 1922 and was one of the original ten settlement houses. The wealthy Angelenos in the 1920s used these homes in the neighborhood as summer homes and hunting lodges.
Ten minutes to Universal and other major movie and television studios. Ten minutes to Hollywood Bowl and Highland and Hollywood Complex (home of the Oscars). Fifteen minutes to Farmers Market, The Grove, Beverly Center, and Beverly Hills. Less than an hour to Big Bear Ski Resort. Twenty minutes to Santa Monica, Malibu, and the beach. Ten minutes to the 101 Interstate.

Kristie was great to work with and the hose is in a wonderful location to take in all the sites of LA. The house was clean and just lovely. We enjoyed our time sitting on the deck and cooking in the large kitchen. Our children loved the space they each had. We will definately go back.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We loved this hillside home. The kitchen was larger than my one at home and is very well equipped. The home is located close to lots of sightseeing, but gives you a nice spot to unwind at the end of a busy day. The owner is so sweet and very helpful. A really unique and fun spot!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your kind words! We are headed there tomorrow actually to have a few days of rest in the City while we are there for work. I hope you stay with us again. Please let me know if I can do anything to make your next stay even better :)

Staying at your home was great for our business trip. The three levels made for more privacy (it was three of us single adults). We are from Germany and had no idea what we were going to get! Thank you very much for your attention and help (maps!) and personal recommendations for our stay. We had everything we needed in the kitchen. See you next time!Did you find this review helpful? Hi Kristie, Apologies that you haven't heard from me or Bo. We actually left LA the week before and have been tied up with our home move here in Maryland. I briefly called my family on their last night there and they informed me that they spoke to Josh and will leave keys in the appropriate place. As for feedback, we'd like to put in a good word for Josh. He works really hard, and we appreciate how easily accessible he is when we have questions (like when the citywide electricity black-out occurred). Please let him know that we thank him!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Dear Kristie, Just a note to let you know that all the girls loved staying at 8150 Kirkwood! Unfortunately because of last minute work commitments I couldn't go on this trip which was very disappointing. From the great reviews I heard from the others about your house I'll recommend others and hopefully go there myself soon. (A girls only getaway week).Did you find this review helpful? What a beautiful neighborhood in LA that we never expected to find. We usually stay out at the beach, which is nice but it always takes FOREVER in traffic to get anywhere. SO now we are going to stay here from now on and pop out to the beach when we fancy it! We had no idea about this neighborhood- no cement jungle here: just trees and lovliness as well as a gorgeous home! (p.s.- Lily's Coffee was amazing and kept us going all day ;)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Thank you Kristie for your kindness and making the rental process and keys so smooth once again. It is great to be able to come back to the same home every time we are in town. Originally, we rented this house before the fire and loved it then, but it is even better now- you have put your unique touch on this brand new home and have remembered all the little details that made our stay easy just like before!Did you find this review helpful? Kristie, thank you so much for the special care you took with the Welcome Letter that gave us so much information about the home and the area. What a gorgeous place, and so private. We come here a few times a year (at the least). Now we know where we will stay! The new home is beautiful by the way. Both are, in their different styles.Did you find this review helpful? Got it. We are in. What a great place. Gorgeous. We will try not to burn it down...(owner insert: that is how it burned down in 2007! A script fire- they were piled over the heating vents!) Peace. JKDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: I still travel a lot! I took this self photo when I was presenting in April 09 at a conference in Europe. It is hard to find places to stay that rival home these days. But the Banks Mansion in Holland was great!
Why the Owner Chose Laurel Canyon:
Location, location, location! I absolutely loved the way you were in the city, but felt a world away- in the trees with wildlife! I really hate commuting, so living in this area made commutes around the city easier. I bought my first house just down the street on September 11, 2001. I was in my 20s, and believe me, very scared that I had just made my first home purchase that was set to close on such an awful day. The banks were closed of course that day, and we closed a couple of days later. I loved living in my 'treehouse' but I always had my eye on two homes just up the street! Finally, 3 years later, they went on the market. After a long process (you actually had to buy both homes and both lots, many special permissions) they were mine! My husband and I married in 2005 and had a child in 2007. We spend most of our time in TN now, but we have kept these two homes as vacation rentals, and for us when we are in town (fairly frequently). Kirkwood is still home too!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love going to Pace and the Country Store, which are just steps away. Now we even have a Trader Joe's just a couple of blocks (Sunset) with A Burke Williams (Spa) to boot! You can literally hole up in Laurel Canyon and not have to go in traffic anywhere if you don't want to (which is what many of the celebrities that live here do;).!
