Accommodations: Sleeping arrangements for 4-5 people. Not a hotel , not an apartment, not a condo – a real home away from home with three bedrooms and three baths. Master bedroom has large California King size bed and full bath, with spa-type tub and stall shower. Second bedroom has two twin beds and a full bath as well. Third bedroom has a single twin-size bed and is adjacent to the upstairs bath.
Description: Sausalito is a small town located just below the famous Golden Gate Bridge north of San Francisco. Originally a fishing community, it is now the home of dozens of yachts, houseboats and weekend homes. An easy 10-15 minutes drive south back across the bridge brings you right into the heart of San Francisco. Protected by the hills of the Marin Headlands, and facing east, Sausalito typically has less fog, more sun and warmer temperatures than San Francisco. Being located on the north side of the Bay provides easy access to all of Marin County and the wine country of Napa Valley as well.
From the home, it’s a short walk down the hill to Bridgeway and Calidonia, the two main streets of Sausalito where there are many excellent restaurants and boutique shops. Bicycle and kayak rentals are close by. There is also a movie theater, several parks, and a terminal for the ferry service that takes you directly to Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco.
The home is a charming remodeled and expanded California cottage. Seen from the street, it appears small, but in fact it has over 2000 sq. ft. of interior space. What you can’t see from the street is the large stone terrace in the back that affords a commanding bay view and sweeping vistas from Mt. Tamalpais and Mill Valley to the center of Sausalito itself. You can literally spend hours just watching boating activity on the bay.
The main living area of the house has Brazilian Cherrywood floors while the remainder of the house is fully carpeted. The kitchen has black granite countertops and comes fully equipped for cooking. The house is wired for broadband communications, WIFI and has a 184 channels of cable TV. There are books and travel literature to read and even toys for children.

When we walked in the front door we were immediately struck by the magnificent view of the bay. It is truly stunning. We loved all the huge glass windows giving us access to the view. The house was bright, clean and very comfortable; had all the amenities we could need. The location is perfect for access to the downtown Sausalito, just a short walk away. We walked to the ferry and took the ferry into San Fran, definitely the way to go. We where a close drive to Muir woods and Mill Valley, both amazing spots to see the Redwoods. We highly recommend this home and the owner was helpful and efficient. Thanks!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family and I just stayed at this darling cottage for a week in late February. The weather was grand, the views incredible, the decor delightful, and the overall comfort was wonderful. It had everything we needed for a wonderful rendezvous. And we discovered the little park on Caledonia for our grandson to enjoy. Thanks so much for a super time!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our stay in your Sausalito home was amazing. The kitchen was equiped with everything needed for our family meals - we had plenty of room. Immaculate and very comfortable and relaxing - we even enjoyed the company of a couple deer and a blue bird in the backyard. The view off the deck and the master bedroom are spectacular (just as described in the listing). We took the ferry over to the City of San Francisco on one of the most BEAUTIFUL and clear days. The City is also just a short 15 minute drive from the home. The small town of Sausalito is quaint with amazing views of the City and bay bridge. We had dinner in Tiberon at a family owned italian restaurant with the greatest hospitality. We absolutely loved this home, location and views and plan to stay again and again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This home is comfortable, well-appointed, and the views are amazing! We stayed for several days in October and had a wonderful time. The owners thought of everything, and the location could not be beat. Master bedroom was huge, and we had plenty of space throughout the house for 4 adults and one child. Thanks for a great stay--we hope to be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2001
About the owner: We are a family of three, including our teenage son. Basically, we live and work in Santa Cruz, California, approximately 90 miles south of Sausalito. The house in Sausalito is our home away from home, our weekend getaway. We use the home ourselves almost as much as we offer it to guests, which is why our 'calendar' shows that the house is not booked 100% of the time each month.
Why the Owner Chose Sausalito:
We were looking for a getaway location somewhere around San Francisco. We looked at condos and apartments in the City itself, but decided that Marin County, across the Golden Gate Bridge, was close enough, was a lot quieter and had better weather. We chose Sausalito because it is an older, well-established town with true community spirit among the locals, and because it reminds us a lot of Portifino, Italy.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The weather in Sausalito is just fantastic! It can be cold, gray, wet and foggy in San Francisco, even at the Bridge, but in Sausalito the sun will be shinning, the sky will be blue, and the temperature about 5-10 degrees warmer.
Sausalito is also the gateway to all things North....Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley, Anderson Valley, Mendocino, Muir Woods Redwoods, The Marin Headlands, Stinson Beach, San Rafael, Santa Rosa and so much more. Just an ideal Northern California location, and yet, only minutes from downtown San Francisco.
