We are making constant improvements to the house. We were one of the first houses to connect to the Currituck County state of the art Municipal Water System, ranked as one of the top 10 systems in North Carolina. Our house has perfect water. Brand new furniture was added in Jan 2011 to the third level living room area and the Rec Room has a new pool table. The main kitchen has a new floor that was installed in September 2011. A new stove and the cabinets will be refurbished all done for the start of the 2012 season!!
In Spring 2011 all the third level deck had new decking installed and the main entrance steps were replaced. More deck furniture was added for 2011. There is a new stove and refrigerator in the main kitchen and for 2012 all the bathrooms will be remodeled. NEW in 2011 were high powered pool pumps for more efficient pool filtering. New double wide park style charcoal grill installed for 2010. New energy efficent air conditioner compressors and water saver shower heads are being installed as well.
The house was built in 1999 and remodeled in 2004 and again in 2008. The house is a Saturday to Saturday rental week. It is located in the laid back non-commercial portion of the northern Outer Banks in the town of Corolla in the private Whalehead subdivision. Here the island is only a 1/4 mile wide from ocean to sound.
Great for family get togethers and groups. Four king-size bed suites with complete baths. Two kids bedrooms with four bunk beds in each using shared fifth bathroom and a brand new queen sized pyramid bed that sleeps 3 in the rec room. There are also two high chairs. Washer and Dryer. Two kitchens and recreation room with new pool table.
Built in KIDDIE POOL on the massive 75 x 35 foot deck along with a built in 16 by 32 foot private pool and a six person hot tub. Both pools have steps for easy entry, no ladders. Ther is loads of deck furniture. TV/VCR or DVD in every room plus a 57 inch big screen TV in living room with DVD/VCR/Surround sound.
Second hot tub on third level deck next to screened in porch was refurbished during fall 2009. NEW in 2009 large kids wooden swing set plus enhanced landscaping on the property. There is a new tile floor in the main entrance way and as mentioned before a new kitchen floor will be installed.
Off street parking for eight cars, four under roof. 250 yard walk to private beach or one can back right up to the first step at the new beach access for unloading. TWO huge grocery stores two miles away. Many fine restaurants in the area plus a beautiful PGA golf course three miles away.
Six other golf courses within 20 miles. North Carolina State Aquarium 30 miles, jet skis, beach driving and much more only minutes away. Climb to the top of the Currituck Lighhouse and tour Whalehead Hunting Club and the restored areas, all a short walk from our house.

Why the Owner Chose Whalehead Beach
Whahlehead subdivision is a very laid back area with low crowds and no chain stores. The beach is a private beach for Whalehead Subdivision renters. Two grocery stores are within two miles. There are countless specilaty shops within walking distacnce of the house. The Four Wheel Drive area is only 1 mile north of our house. Many amenities are within walking distance. Great Bike riding area. Many nature and protected areas near by.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Here the Northern Outbanks Island is only a 1/4 mile wide from ocean to sound. Here is where the Whalehead subdivision is located in a very laid back location, with low crowds and very low commercial development. Everything one would need is within walking distance of the house. Coffee Shops, wine stores, natural settings and nature preserves are all within walking distace. The historic Curritck Lighthosue is only a 1/4 mile away. Walk to the Whalehead Club and Currituck County Nature Conservatory. See widlife during your early moring walks in the area. No beach fees or beach tags required. The beach is sculptured by nature.
The beachs are wide and flat with no drop offs. Sunrises and sunsets can't be matched and at night the stars jump out as there is very little ambient light to interfere with natures show. Ride bikes on lightly traveled streets or just hng out on the beach or decks and soak in the sun.

Rented this house in July 2011. Obvious remodeling took place with very nice new kitchen from floor to cupboards and sink!! Loved the Sponge Bob Kids room too!!

We arrived for a five day stay, but left the house within an hour of our arrival. The deal breaker was mouse poop found first in the basement kitchenette and then in the pots & pans cabinet on the top floor kitchen. We have two small kids (under 2) who love getting into things and we were not comfortable with the idea of them munching on mouse droppings. Overall, the house was in fairly shabby condition. The main floor (kitchen and living room space) was tolerable. The bedrooms were fairly shabby and the basement was dank. There were stains in the basement carpet. There was something growing up the wall of the basement refrigerator. There was a half-eaten cookie in the pack n' play. The peeling paint on the kitchen cabinets and bathrooms in need of maintenence showed signs of neglect. We couldn't connect to the wireless internet. After reading the previous review, we were wary, but after reassurance from the realty company, we decided to try it. That was a mistake. Upon our first complaint, they sent a staff member to clean the mouse poop. She brought supplies from her office, which wouldn't have been sufficient to sanitize the pots and pans. We pressed the company and after much arguing, thet did provide us with a refund for the stay and we were able to secure alternate accommodations for the same price in a clean and lovingly maintained home. Don't feel you need to 'tough it out' in this mediocre house. There are other options that are cleaner and better maintained. And there are realty companies that are pleasant to work with and who work to make sure their customers are satisfied.

This August was the third time in 5 years we have stayed there. We tried other places but for the money you can't beat the value and location so we go back. House has everything we could need as shown in photos and info. The house is well taken care of and sterIts obvious owner up grades as everytime we have been there we see new modifications for the better. Very laid back area and always a non crowded beach. Will stay there again!!
Recommended for:Age 55+, families with young children.

We rented this house in late July and unfortunately were very disappointed in the condition and the quality of the house. The conditions of the house were very dirty with many items in disrepair. We made the mistake to overlook the items since everyone wanted to enjoy their vacation and not complain over details like broken vertical blinds, dirty floors and baths. The pictures of this property must have been taken years ago. The list of issues is long and to top it off we are pretty sure that the property has a bed bug issue because the suite cases we used have evidence of bed bugs. Guess what we are now dealing with at home now?
Owner response:Based on this one single unfavorable review we as the owners went to the house as soon as we received this complant. We were unable to find anything to validate any of the complaints except two broken blinds and are still unsure why these comments were made. Despite being unable to find any of the complaints listed we had the entire house cleaned from top to bottom. We did replace the damaged blinds. We take great pride in our house and constantly upgrade many things in the house every year. We also made an unannounced visit to the house on October to see if in fact there were any other issues not being reported to us. We found that none of the issues mentioned above was accurate. The stove is being replaced for 2011 and thats just one upgrade being done for 2011. UPDATE! New furniture was installed in the third level living room in November 2010. We had the house inspected by a certified exterminator. The report which is on file with th rental compnay indicates that there are no pests of any kind present and there is no evidence that there ever was a pest problems of any kind. Please check the listing for the 2011 upgrades being made after the holiday!!

Weather great! You have everything a guest could want. Karichele Staff were nice to deal with. While lying on the deck by the pool a deer came up to the railing. The place is nature at its best! (Comment left in guest book at house July 2004).
