We stayed here for a few winter get-away days and really got to relax. The beds are wonderful and the aroma of the Ponderosa and Jeffery Pines is always intoxicating. However, we were unprepared for the spectacular moonrise experience we would have. As the evening wore on, the moon rose higher across the lake and through the trees. Its light across the snow combined with beautiful blue shadows across the snowy surface on the back of the property. Romance flooded in through the windows as we enjoyed the (very warm!) stone fireplace. Although we enjoyed local restaurants and cafes, the nicely appointed kitchen allows for all the cooking a chef could want. Again, we were so relaxed, fresh hot coffee on the back deck in the morning was all we could manage to prepare for ourselves. Cooking breakfast is no match for the view of the Lake through the trees. Thank you for sharing your home with us!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend get-away and wow.............this home was a mountain retreat with a view of the lake from the living room and master bedroom. The beautiful stone fireplace kept us warm and cozy as we enjoyed the views of nature from every window. The beds were very comfortable with feathery down blankets that kept us warm. It was fun cooking with the high quality gas stove while my husband watched from the kitchen bar area. This home has lots of light and is well furnished. In the afternoon sun, we relaxed on the back deck where there's plenty of seating and a shade umbrella. The perfect place to enjoy the tranquiltiy of the area.. As hikers, we loved having a trail head just a couple blocks away from this home. We will be back!!! .Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: I am a mom to a 16yr old son, retired RE agent/music teacher/songwriter/piano player. My son is a student, promising guitarist, and a well-behaved border collie name Rosy also resides here. We've lived here for two years after deciding the Bay area was not for us anymore and feeling this was an ideal setting to have a great life up here in beautiful Tahoe, so it was renovated in 2009 and we came to live in summer 2010. We have accommodated guests to be comfortable here, and to have a very wonderful time here, which has been easey to do.
Why the Owner Chose Cedar Flat:
This property is bright, sits on a hill with a filtered view of the lake from almost every room. It is bright and the downstairs is private and has a lots of space in the guest room (also a music room) a spacious bathroom with a huge shower to sit in also.
We have WiFi and password will be provided. Also have a TV, DVD player and stereo all out of Bose stereo.
Also, I have a doggie door downstairs in the garage that lets out into the backyard (not fenced) to accommodate your pet.
There is ample tiled space and mudroom at the front door to take off wet gear and shower right around the corner.
Our neighbors up and down the street are incredibly friendly and helpful, and I will give you their info if you need any help with anything.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This is a great location on the north shore because it is centrally located in-between the best ski resorts on the north shore and also in-between Tahoe City; 4 miles and Kings Beach, about 4 miles also This street (Piney Wood) is also immediately plowed after the main highway around the lake (28) is.
The full moon rises right in the middle of the deck are all things that were a delightful surprise and the accessibility of all shopping, sports, hospital, fire dept are all very near and convenient. The friendliness of the people here is also a nice surprise. The quiet atmosphere the mountains offer and the majestic views of lake, Truckee river and vista views are some of the most beautiful in the world
