This family farmhouse, built in the 17th century, is situated in the heart of the beautiful lush green Garfagnana region of Tuscany. It would be difficult to find a more peaceful and relaxing location to enjoy spectacular mountain scenery as well as have access to stunning medieval villages and the well known cities of Lucca, Florence and Pisa.
The property is in a secluded situation, but not isolated, as the nearest village is just a 10 minute walk away. On the Ground Floor the house has a fine sitting- room which is furnished with sofas and armchairs, an antique writing-desk, and a stone fire-place. The comfortable dining-room opens onto the kitchen.
From the sitting-room, you can enter a little bathroom and from the kitchen a utility-room.
On the first floor there is a double room and two bedrooms with two single beds each (in one of these, there is a chair-bed) furnished with beautiful period furniture.
There are two bathrooms (one bathroom with a bath-tub and the other one with a shower).
The garden area is big and lovely and has a private swimming pool.
A fine converted barn is also available if your group is larger, making the capacity up to 10 people. This is only rented along with the main house, costing an extra £350 per week.
La Pieve Fosciana, the nearest village, is within walking distance and has a number of shops, bars, restuarants and a small weekly market.
You shouldn't have to go far in any direction to appreciate what the wider area has to offer. Most of the villages are medieval and interesting to visit and the Oricciella Natural Park has some lovely walks as well as a visitor centre and bar/restaurant. Castelnouvo is the local market town and has tourist offices, all kinds of shopping and plenty of places to eat out.
Eating out is one of the pleasures of the area. Delicious local ingredients are the norm and meals are excellent value, with a full lunch with wine and coffee costing only 9-10 euros. Evening main courses usually cost between 7-10 euros, and excellent pizzas less than 5 euros.

The villa and connected barn sleeps 10 in 4 bedrooms. The villa can also be rented on its own with exclusive use of the pool at a reduced rate. The converted barn is very romantic and situated in a quiet corner of the garden. The patio, garden and swimming pool are completely private and the pool is 3 degrees warmer than a traditional unheated pool because of the colour of the pool lining chosen to be be in keeping with the natural surroundings.
