About the owner: I'm an American who studied abroad in France 25 years ago, commencing a lifelong love affair with the French countryside. I travel for business and spend most of my time between the US and Europe.
Why the Owner Chose Ste. Colombe de Duras: I fell in love with La Grivette - at the time only an abandoned farm house - during a long weekend visiting friends who lived in the area. It was a real 'coup de coeur' from the minute I saw the front courtyard, overgrown with abandoned roses, until we opened the back window that perfectly frames the Roman church off in the village. That was it - I had to own it. Little did I imagine the 8 years it would take to renovate... but that makes for interesting stories and we had great vacations with family, friends and anyone else I could convince to come camp and work on the property.
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse: La Grivette is unique because of its charm and its isolated location. So many of the old farms were built right along the road, or have neighboring houses right next to them. If you are looking for tranquility, beautiful views, lovely walks, and the best night's sleep you've ever had, then this is ideal place.
