The Cottage was even more beautiful than the pics, inside was absolutely adorable and welcoming. From the minute we arrived everything was great my kids loved playing in the yard and walking the trails. We hiked to a waterfall that was just a few miles down the road from the cabin, my youngest son is only 3 and he was leading the way on the entire hike. We also went gem mining and mini golf just 5 mins from the cottage. We had great camp fires and loved every min in the cozy Cottage. The owners are so great we had contact the entire time and never had any problems. I will most definitely stay with my family here again as many times as possible. :)Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+.

We decided to head to the mountains for Thanksgiving and we were fortunate enough to rent this adorable cabin. If you want to feel like you are "far away" but not really be "far away" this place is for you. The Chestnut Christmas Cabin is on a mountain side and a very quiet getaway, with only a few homes around the area, however, it has all of the modern conveniences that you could possibly want. The cabin is fully stocked with everything you might need. We were there for Thanksgiving and there was plenty of pots, pans and baking dishes etc. needed to put on our Thanskgiving spread. There is wi-fi and cable which was great for the kids, as was the loft too. The kids loved the loft. It was there very own little getaway. Beware, the leather reclining chair and burning fire in the fireplace may cause sleepiness! Very cozy, charming cabin that is very nicely decorated. The pictures do not lie. We also enjoyed having a campfire in the fire pit to roast hotdogs. Although somewhat seculded on a mountain side, you are only a few minutes from nearby shopping, which includes major grocery stores and many little restaurants etc and plenty to do within the town of Blue Ridge. The town of Blue Ridge is quaint with plenty of shops, boutiques, restaurants, and we found lots to do there. We ventured on the Blue Ridge railway and took a train ride to Coper TN for lunch, the kids went ice skating (temporay for the season), they had a park for the kids and during this time of year they had a tree lighiting ceremony. The town was all lit with lights. The Mercier Orchards is a great place to visit too. You can take a tracker ride through the orchards and learn a bit of what they grow there etc. You may want to try to the very delicous apple pie (turnover) pastry. Yum! The owner was very nice, easily asseccible and accommodating during our stay. We enjoyed ourselves very much and would return.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.

My husband and I stayed at this Cabin over Labor Day weekend and had one of our best vacations here. The cabin is in the perfect location, not too far from the lake or Blue Ridge, which was having festivities at the time that were fabulous. The cabin was absolutely enchanting with screened porches in the front and back of the cabin to nature watch and read a good book. The cabin was well furnished like a dream cabin out of HGTV, not to mention the hot tub on the lower walk out. We were in heaven the whole vacation. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice relaxing retreat.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+.

My husband and I stayed here with our two young children and my brother and his wife. We had so much fun. The kids loved exploring the paths in the yard and the area is so beautiful. And of course they loved the Christmas tree and Christmas lights, great spot for a perfect family vacation. The cabin is very accommodating and the kids loved sleeping in the loft. We will definitely be back, they are already begging me to return there.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: My husband and I live in Naples, Florida. Wanting a second home in the mountains, we were looking for something within a days drive. It took us 2 years and 3 realtors before we found our perfect place. We love the privacy and the quiet of Chestnut. It is magical to us in all seasons
Why the Owner Chose Aska:
You can enjoy being in the mountains, yet feel safe with little ones, as there are no cliffs to worry about. It's ideal for a romantic stay and walks around the beautiful pathways, and enjoy a rest on the many resting benches.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Chestnut is a Christmas Cottage year round. It is especially nice to stay during the holidays. There are many cozy places to sneak off to to relax and read, or to just listen to the birds. It's not unusual to spot a deer or two, which is always a joy. The cabin is decorated for Christmas all year round, keeping the joyous spirit alive. With artwork from local artist. The beams in the loft have sweet handmade Angels to watch over sleeping children. The pen and ink drawings over the bed and kitchen were done by an older gentleman, that knew just when to stop, and keep it simple. The barn above the kitchen was special to him, and I kept the card saying 'Daddy's Barn'. The geese that hold the kitchen towels over the sink were purchased in McCaysville at an Antique shop after a Scenic Railway trip along the river with our Granddaughter Anna Grace. More geese point the way to the loft. Many other special things were given to us by friends and quests that have become inthralled with the cabin and mountain spirit.
