My husband and I were lucky enough to stay at the cottage during the Thanksgiving holiday and weekend this year. We were impressed not only by the breathtaking scenery and view but also by how well-appointed the cottage was (although it did help that my mom, who lives nearby, came over and stocked the fridge!). The photos of the cottage and surrounding area do not do it justice - it's picture perfect and we really didn't want to leave. The furnishings were comfortable and the size of the place was perfect - we ended up hosting our Thanksgiving potluck there with ten people and we still had plenty of room. As an additional treat, we hiked the trails every day and enjoyed the porches overlooking the golf course and mountains. We can't say enough good things about the cottage - you should check it out for yourself! Highly recommended.

Great Weekend Getaway!

My family and I recently spent a weekend in this home. We had a wonderful experience. The owner was very helpful and easy easy to work with. The home sits on a beautiful lot and has a view of the golf course. My son found several golf balls in the backyard. I would definitely recommend staying here. We took our bikes and enjoyed mountain biking around Big Canoe. We had a wonderful Mexican meal at Fuegos, right outside the North gate. We also drove over to Amicalola Falls and hiked to the waterfall. Overall it was a WONDERFUL family weekend. Thank you for opening your home.

Our family enjoyed our stay at Big Canoe. If you go, be prepared to pay extra for your use of the ammenities. The house is in a beautiful location. Our major disapointment was that there were not enough paper products and soap for our stay. The owner was great to work with.

This house was a wonderful place to have an off-site weekend working retreat. It is incredibly comfortable, with a great view of the golf course. The beauty and serenity of the environment kept my mind and spirit fresh so that I could stay focused and on-track. The pristine location is very convenient, and easy to reach from the entire Atlanta metro area. In addition to the many amenities offered at Big Canoe, it's just a few minutes away from the spectacular 729-foot Amicalola Falls - the tallest waterfall in Georgia.

It was beautiful up there this weekend. No snow on the ground, but you could see the candy coated trees up on the mountain. We also saw a momma deer and an adolescent in the woods just behind the house. Its a great place!

Big Canoe was amazing! My husband and our friends from Memphis TN joined us for the 4th of July weekend. We took advantage of almost everything possible from canoeing, hiking, golf, swim, biking, reading, napping, art shows, games and of course the fireworks show! The weather was perfect! We enjoyed driving around the area looking at houses and the gorgeous views! Thank you for a wonderful weekend getaway! We will be back.

When we pulled into the long winding forest road of Big Canoe, we felt instant tranquility! The home is absolutely lovely and so comfortable. It is on two levels, each with its own private living room and private deck which overlook the gorgeous golf course. I spent some stress relieving time reading my book on the cushy sofa! My husband loved the golf, and the olympic size indoor pool. My granddaughter really enjoyed one of two of the outdoor pools, and the pretty sandy beach on a lake that has paddle boats and canoes! There is so much to do - tennis, hiking, a natural rock slide, golf, swimming, shopping, eating - what more could we ask?? We will definitely come back to Big Canoe and to this wonderful house! From our guestbook: We had a wonderful weekend in your lovely home. Our 2-year old has absolutely taken this place as her own. She thinks this is our new home. We enjoyed "hiking" the Wildcat trails, around the lake, and the Meadows. The playground was great too! Our favorite part of the weekend was sitting on the screened-in porch, listening to the rain on Sunday night.

We had a wonderful vacation at your beautiful home! It was so peaceful and relaxing! Your decor is lovely! The weather was perfect 70-80 and sunny! (2nd week in March) Lots of reading, hiking, some tennis, golf and games. (We bring a few everywhere we go and did find a couple at your home.) (And of course we did some shopping at the great outlets!) Your home was beautiful and comfortable! Our favorite spot was on the porch overlooking the golf course. Many thanks again!!

We spent the month of December in this adorable cottage, and had such a great time we are returning for another month this summer. The cottage is so comfortable, and the view of the golf course from the big picture windows is lovely, especially in the winter when the trees are bare. The kitchen is well turned-out, with nice appliances and adequate dishes and cookery. And, the two bedrooms and sitting room on the terrace level were great for our visiting family. We absolutely loved this fantastic home!!!

In February of '07 we moved from our home of 30 years in Gainesville, Florida to Big Canoe. We were building our retirement home here in the mountains of Big Canoe. We were fortunate enough to find a beautiful home to rent and we loved it! Our next 7 months were filled with decisions, selections, evaluations, some frustrations and allot of family and freinds stopping in for a night or 3. Our temporary home was just that - a home. The decor is very comfortable and charming. It is stylish enough to meet anyones tastes yet it feels like a homey and welcoming destination. Dave and Tisa, our landlords were so nice and concerned about our needs and our comfort we felt at home immediately. The view of the golf course from the great room and the porch is stunning and very restful. At dusk many evenings we loved watching the deer wander thru the area directly off the deck. A great compact kitchen that is well equipped made dinners and food preparation easy. The 2 guest bedrooms are large and the master suite is very comfortable. It was a wonderful 7 months for us, we know you will enjoy the home, the accomodations, the area, the activities, and the peaceful and serene attitude that effects all of us here in Big Canoe. What a beautiful location and great property. If you are considering going to Big Canoe, we can highly recommend staying in this property. It is beautifully decorated and very clean. The couple who own it are wonderful to work with and take great care and pride in their rental property. The location is wonderful, there is lots to do and it is a great getaway for a night or a week! Go -- you'll be glad you did.

This is a great place! Most notably, the wall of windows in the living room makes for a very relaxing view of the mountains and trees. Couple that with a cozy fire and and a little wine you have the makings of a great weekend. The decor is very welcoming and confortable. As another person said, the pictures do not do the home justice. This house comfortably sleeps 6 and is well furnished and equipped for a short get-a-way with friends.

We absolutely loved the house and Big Canoe. We did not realize how much Big Canoe had to offer and we spent a lot of time just hanging out relaxing at the house. Our 2 year old had a blast on the rock slide and hiking around the lake. I think we will certainly return sometime in the future. Thanks so much for sharing your great home!!

We spent an extended Thanksgiving break at Big Canoe (about 10 days). We were pleasantly surprised by the rental property and this wasn't due to low expectations. We have literally traveled the world for our Thanksgiving breaks, but this year decided to stay in the United States. I would echo the previous comments - 'if you are looking for a place in Big Canoe - look no further'. This property offers THE BEST of Big Canoe starting with a breathtaking living room view of foilage, the golf course and Cox Mountain in the distance. The unit is equipped with everything one would desire. We are "clean freaks" and we felt as though we were at home. In addition the unit manangement is nearby in case there is anything that needs attention. No fear of a long distance owner unable to attend to your needs. The location is superb. Easily accessible to the gates and all amenities. If in doubt drop me a line. Big Canoe, for those not familiar with, offers a fantastic getaway. Don't heistate on Big Canoe or don't hesitate on this property. Still in doubt...have any questions...drop me a line and I will do my best to answer. That is how much we enjoyed our visit.

If you are thinking about staying in Big Canoe look no further! This is the one and only cottage you should look at. The pictures on the web page do not do it justice, my breath was taken away at how beautiful the house and the view was. I stayed one night and wanted to make it my permanent residence! I really can not say enough about what a simply gorgeous, quiet and relaxing place it is to spend your vacation. The cottage is professionally decorated and very, very cozy. I especially enjoyed the view of the 13th green out of the huge picture windows on the entire back side of the house. It makes for a romantic getaway or, if you have a family, it is somewhere everyone can stay with so much room that all will be very comfortable. This was my first trip to Big Canoe, but it will certainly not be the last! The only place I will stay is this beautiful cottage furnished with everything you could possibly need to enjoy your stay.
