The Windham Country House, a spacious contemporary home, sits on a secluded country road, providing you with peace and privacy, while being centrally located near Southern Vermont's popular towns. This vacation rental is fully booked from November 25, 2009 until March 1, 2011. Some time remains open this October and November. The place can accommodate groups of up to 12, but smaller groups are also welcomed, including any group with children and pets.
GREAT ACCOMMODATIONS
The Windham Country House has five large, lovely bedrooms and three full bathrooms. Its great room (600 square feet) includes a kitchen, eating area, and living room with regulation billiards table. Cooks will find this set-up great for preparing meals without missing out on the fun. All rooms have natural wood floors and original artwork. Large windows, porches, and a deck provide you with grand views of Turkey Mountain and the natural beauty that surrounds the house.
YOUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME
Previous renters of the Windham Country House say they loved being near Vermont's tourist attractions, while staying at a private place away from the resorts. Youths enjoy playing on the Windham Country House grounds. There is plenty to enjoy inside the house, too, with its games, TV, videos, and puzzles. Young and old alike relish playing pool on the regulation billiards table. While the house is perfect for one family with guests or for two families to share, any group will find the accommodations comfortable and pleasing.
VERMONT'S MANY OPTIONS
Located in the heart of southern Vermont, the Windham Country House provides easy access to a wide variety of pleasurable options. If you hike, there are great trails nearby. If you prefer to enjoy the scenery while touring in your car, the Green Mountain National Forest will please your eyes. If you are a shopper, there are antique stores, art galleries, and designer outlets. For those nights you don’t feel like cooking, a variety of restaurants in the area offer everything from down-home meals to four-star cuisine.
HOSPITALITY TOO
The owners of the Windham Country House, Michael and Mary, live on the premises in a separate apartment and are ready to assist you at your request. They’ll adjust the indoor temperature to your liking before you arrive, offer advice on things to do and see, provide directions, and in other ways ensure that your stay is a delightful one. In addition, Michael is able to perform marriages, and Mary can provide Reiki treatments which reduce stress and pain.

Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1996
Michael and I (Mary) lived in cities before we moved to Vermont. He was in Boston, and I was in Cincinnati, and although we had full lives, we knew something was missing. It turned out to be each other and Vermont! He moved here in 1996 and built this house. As a former landscaper with experience also as a home builder, he put his skills to work, creating a wonderful home. He and I had known each other for many years through mutual friends, and when we visited those friends at the same time in 2002, our friendship grew. Then I visited him in his Vermont home and fell in love with him and the wonderful place he created.
Why the Owner Chose Windham
Michael built the house on this property because of its scenic views and its location, which is off the beaten track, yet within 10 to 15 minutes of supermarkets, restaurants, specialty shops, a hospital, etc. Windham has only 300 year-round residents. Half the houses here are owned by part-time residents who find it an ideal location for their second home. Nearly 85% of the town is forested. The open spaces provide great mountain views.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Michael and I soon learned that others love this place as we do. So we created a separate apartment in the house for ourselves and began renting the main part of the house to vacationers. It’s no surprise to us that many city folks feel as we do. This place is not just a great escape. It is paradise. One of the best benefits of living here is being able to share it with others.
