Cedar Mountain cabin description
The cabin is an open plan. There is a Tennessee Field Stone Wood Burning Fireplace. We have two heat pumps for heating and air conditioning but seldom need the a/c. There is a ten foot wide screened front porch that runs the length of the house. Although not isolated our property is very private. The master bedroom has a queen bed and private bath with shower over a 6 foot long tub. Another bedroom has a queen bed and the other a double. There is a bath between the two. All sheets and towels are furnished and are of excellent quality. The kitchen is complete with all cookware, silver, microwave, refrigerator and freezer. The electric range is flat top ceramic. Our tankless water heater means never running out of hot water.

- We are located four miles from Caesar's Head State Park and Raven Cliff Falls where Perigrine Falcons nest. Pretty Place, one of the prettiest places in the country is four miles away.. DuPont State Forest is approx. 7 miles and has four big waterfalls. Hooker Falls, Triple falls, High Falls and Bridal Veil Falls are all within walking distance of the parking area. Portions of the Hunger Games were filmed here as well as The Last of The Mohicans. Pisgah Forest, the Cradle of Forestry and the Blue Ridge Parkway are all nearby. There is a par three golf course within 4 miles of our cabin. And the charming little mountain town of Brevard is 12 miles away. We are located in a photographers dream area with 250 named waterfalls in the county ( which does not include those just across the State Line in South Carolina) and numerous old barns and landscapes. ...moreless

Great place to stay for wedding!
Great place to stay for wedding!
My son recently was recently at Pretty Place at Camp Greenville. This cabin was the perfect location for us to stay due to the location and convenience. We were able to bring our labs who loved the large yard. Everything was provided was was a plus because we cooked for the rehearsal party and carried our bounty to Bradley Creek Falls -15 minutes away. I will have to say the owner is the nicest gentlemen b/c my daughter had left her purse in the cabin and did not realize until we were over halfway back home. We called the owner and had no problems... his cleaning lady found the purse boxed and shipped it back to us within 2 days we recieved the purse untouched. We are very grateful! thank you for a blessed weekend.

Owner response: Becky and Gary thanks for choosing our place for your son's wedding. You left the place spotless and we are appreciative. Please come back anytime.
The four of us senior citizens settled in for a week of relaxation in a very clean and lovely home. It was everything that we needed for a relaxing good time. We hiked to water falls and shopped in Brevard. We had visits with Brevard relatives (we even had one to spend an afternoon with us at the cabin). We had five deer sightings (roadside). The climate control in the cabin was great. We were always comfortable even tho the outside temperature varied about 20 degrees from morning until night. We were a little early for peak leaf changing but were able to find beautiful colors on Mt Pisgah. There is a glider inside and outside which had my name on them. We visited Grammy's (The blueberry pancakes are big and delicious) and Rocky's repeatedly, so you know we liked them. (I had a banana split and ate the whole thing.) The town of Brevard is very pet friendly and so were the trails. Nice to know if we decide to bring our pup on a return trip. .We enjoyed Jim's pre-vacation help and wonderful hospitality.

We stayed for two nights before and after our wedding at Symmes Chapel (Pretty Place), just a short drive down the road. Wish we had been able to stay longer! Georgeous setting and very private. Everything you need is there for a great stay.

Owner response: Dr. Jim, We are happy you chose our place for such an important event in your lives. YOu are welcome back anytime. Cordially, Jim K
My husband Dan,who teaches elementary art, and I stayed at this beautiful well-maintained and peaceful mountain cabin for a month during his summer sabbatical. It was heavenly, in spite of the unusual, almost daily, torrential rains we experienced during our stay. The air conditioning system with separate controls for upstairs and downstairs worked excellently, keeping the cabin fresh and comfortable. We have been back home in Denver for several days now and miss our daily waterfall treks to either Dupont, Pisgah, Gorges State Park or Caesar's Head State Park. There are so many scenic places close at hand in this area - such a blessing! We saw at least 25 unique and impressive waterfalls during our stay and we hiked about 175 miles. A large number of the waterfalls were easily accessible. The owner, Jim Kelly, was delightful to work with - he checked in during our stay to make sure everything was OK and to give us tips on nearby adventures.

Owner response: Rosemarie and Dan, you were wonderful guest. You had lots of rain to contend with but you made the most of it. We have set records this year with rainfall and most of it came while you were here. We really appreciate your great spirit and attitude and you are most welcome back anytime. Cordially, Jim Kelly
Went to this cabin with my family and had a great time. Very nice furnishings throughout the home, well stocked, very cozy, clean and comfortable, pretty area around cabin, and close to lots of fun family activities (waterfalls, parks, biking, etc). Owners were helpful and very hospitable. Would highly recommend!

Owner response: Allison and Gary, it was our pleasure to have you. You left our place just as clean as you found it. Thanks. I have a new place for you to visit next time you are in the area. It is Black Balsam Knob just off the Parkway. It is one of the most spectacular views I have seen. My daughter and I hiked there this past Saturday. I was a fairly strenuous hike for me but well worth the effort. Enjoy your summer and come back soon. Cordially, Jim Kelly
Great Family Get-away
Great Family Get-away
Our extended family (6 of us) stayed at this charming cabin for a few days the week after Christmas. It was perfect fo us! The cabin was well outfitted with everything you need for your stay. We enjoyed exploring nearby Brevard and state parks, and Asheville and the Biltmore Estate was a comfortable hour and tem minutes away. While our goal in coming to North Carolina was to see the Biltmore at Christmas, we were very glad to be out of the city and back at our cabin when the day was done. I would love to come back during the Spring or Summer and enjoy all the nearby outdoor attractions. What a great place!

Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: I am a life long resident of Columbia, SC. When my daughter moved to Brevard about 12 years ago we fell in love with the area. We purchased a little over 8 acres and built this place in 2004. Since we can't always be there, we love sharing our little bit of paradise.
Why the Owner Chose Cedar Mountain:
The property could not be more convenient to all that the area has to explore. Dozens of waterfalls within minutes, Asheville is less than an hour away, Hendersonville about 35 minutes. If you hate Summer heat as we do this is THE PLACE. On any Summer day the temp will be 10-12 degrees cooler than Brevard and 20 degrees cooler than Columbia, SC. Most days in Summer we are cooler than Asheville.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Watching the sun come up at Pretty Place is unforgettable. Watching it go down at Caesar's Head is just as awesome. Everything is close by. No need to ride for hours. Just minutes gets you there.
