Location, location, location. This is a cute little apartment on a beautiful and quiet beach. Take some day trips or enjoy swimming and snorkeling without leaving home! Mike and Sandy were wonderful hosts and couldn't be more accommodating. And the people in Eleuthera, as a group, are as friendly and welcoming as I have met anywhere.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Listing description of the property was accurate and full, we were able to find it without any problems. Photos, rental’s appearance and amenities completely matched listing description too. The property was clean and well-maintained. Owners of the property, Mike and Sandy, are friendly and helpful. As a matter of fact we didn't have any concerns during the stay. I would definitely recommend this property to anybody looking for privacy, relaxation and quiet peaceful place. The beach is just two steps away from your door. You can do snorkeling, swimming, running, walking, sunbathing, playing, sleeping or whatever else you prefer as much as you can. After daily activities you'll have a wonderful sleeping under sound of waves. If you are tied with all of it, drive to the South and visit a cave or try local food in Gregory town. You can also drive to the North and visit Harbour island; it'll take you only 30 minutes to find yourself over there. Thank you Mike and Sandy, we'll remember your place forever.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We stayed for 8 days in Jan 2013 and this rental exceeded our expectations. The location is unbeatable. Gaulding Cay is gorgeous, with beautiful sand and stunning water - pictures don't do it justice. Sun all day and great sun sets. The house is perfectly positioned on the beach and the water is literally steps from your door. Like others have mentioned, you basically have the beach to yourselves and the privacy and tranquility are amazing. In addition to the location, the property itself was great: -Cleaned and well maintained -Flooded with light with 2 sets of sliding glass doors and 3 windows in the main room -Great little back patio with grill, plus side patio -The patio furniture was perfect for eating breakfast, lounging on the beach, or taking the chair to sit in the water -Handy little tap near the entrance for foot-washing as well as great outdoor shower for post-swims -Plenty of beach and shower towels provided -Great wifi reception -Amazing to hear the sound of the lapping waves through the window at night Mike was fantastic and very accessible for little questions and arranged for us to rent a car which was delivered right to the house. We were a little unsure about renting an apartment under someone's house but the set up was great as most of the apartment living space is under the home's side deck so we found there to be very little sound travel. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone going to Eleuthera. We looked around fairly extensively and did not see a better location or better value. Here's a few recommendations for the area: -Lunch at the nearby Laughing Lizard restaurant. The food and desserts were delicious and the value was great too as some of the restaurants on the island are on the pricey side. -Day trip to French Leave/Club Med beach and a beer or pina colada on the deck at Tippy's restaurant. -An evening out at Rainbow Bay Inn. A pricier option but the fish was fresh and delicious and the live band made for good atmosphere. -A visit to Harbour Island. Totally different feel from Eleuthera but the Pink Sand beach is beautiful and if you walk to the west part of the beach there is no one there. Try the food at Queen Conch, great fish wraps. Across the street a shop has homemade ice cream. The temps were nice in January, the fans kept us cool in the day and a thin blanket kept us warm at night. You may want bug spray and calamine as there are a number of noseeums on the island. Enjoy Gaulding Cay!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Well, like I told the owner of this home, the listing doesn't do it justice. When we made plans for this Eleuthera trip, it was quite rushed and since being the holidays, it seemed like we were running out of options on where to stay. We chose to rent the bottom apartment of this homeand it was more than what we expected. First of all, even though it was "high season", there was noone anywhere...practically having the beautiful each to ourselves. Anyone we did meet, were travelling from other points of the island to visit the beach where our house stood. You can just wake up and there you are! You can walk out 100 ft and the beautiful water is still up to your waist! Swim out to the small island out front to see some beautiful fish, star fish, sand dollars, ect.... Such a peacful spot! Mike, the owner hooked us up with a car rental and even bought us groceries since we were arriving Christmas day and he warned us many shops/resteraunts would be closed...So considerate! I highly recomend this house if your looking for some relaxing sleepy beach time...the pace is slow and mellow...buy lobster and fish from the harbor dock in any town and grill it up! Go to Daddy Joes (right across the main street) to see some great musicians from the Bahama's and get some great food while your at it. Eleuthera is a secret....a beautiful secret... I really don't want to even tell you how beautiful and non developed this island is. Perfect!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I stayed here in Feb for a week and found it a totally relaxing break from my busy schedule. Not even once did I need any air conditioning as there is always a cool ocean breeze drifting through the blinds. In fact, I slept with a small cover at night wonderfully. This your home away from home set right on the beach. The small kitchen is perfect for keeping you well fed throughout your stay. There is a perfect outside shower(in addition to the one inside) for rinsing after your morning swim followed by coffee overlooking the gorgeous Caribbean Sea at your doorstep. No worries about a beach full of people since you will have this whole beach all to your self. The water is crystal clear and you can hear the gentle waves lapping at the beach while lying in your bed at night. If you've never experienced this soothing sound you're truly missing out on the true meaning of a tropical escape. There is Satellite TV if you just need something to bring you back to reality or maybe want to catch a movie or a cycle of ESPN highlights. The WiFi is also nice for those that need to check in during their stay. I would plan on renting a car for sightseeing and the occasional trip to the grocery although not entirely required if you stop on the way from the airport. The owner, Mike, will gladly answer any questions you might have about what to bring and the activities available in the area. A day each spent on Harbor Island, driving to the South end of Eleuthera, or taking the ferry to Spanish Wells are just a few suggestions. Bring along your favorite book and just RELAX. Eleuthera is truly a great place to unwind and the people here are very friendly.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

I stayed here last Spring for a blissfully relaxing week. The beach is basically ten steps away and the rest of the world about a million miles away. The description about the Milky Way being overhead at night is no exaggeration. Cute little private apartment. The owner, MIke, knows this part of the island inside out and seemed to know everyone wherever we went. We cooked most of our own meals with groceries bought on the way there from the airport and barely spent any money on this vacation beyond that, airfare, and rental. If you're looking for an escape from consumerism, this is your place! We swam out to the little island every day at low tide. The water was beautiful and we had the beach all to ourselves nearly all the time.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

The natural beauty of this private cove must be seen to be believed. I spent a week with a friend at this apartment in April, and I think we saw maybe four or five other people on the beach the whole time - some days we had the whole cove to ourselves. The sun sets into the ocean, behind the tiny island situated out in the water - stunning. (You can wade/swim out to the private island from the beach very easily for another view of Eleuthera.) The water is very calm and shallow in the cove, and is only a few steps away from the apartment. There are trees for shade, and a whole day can slip away very peacefully. Inside, the apartment is cozy, with simple furnishings and lots of windows - I slept like a log with the sound and smell of the ocean only a few feet away. The decor is much like Eleuthera itself - unpretentious and focused on natural beauty rather than hotel-style luxury. (Although we learned during our trip that many well-known actors and musicians make their way to the island because of its low key privacy.) There is a small kitchen, and I would recommend a grocery shop when you arrive on the island, because part of the charm of Eleuthera is that it's much less developed than many of the other islands in the Caribbean, so you probably won't want to spend time going out for every meal. There are some very good restaurants and bars with a great local flavor, however - they are the kind of places you might meet a yacht owner, a surfer, and a watermelon farmer on the same night. Eleuthera is a place of incredible natural beauty, and there are many other secluded beaches to be discovered up and down the coast (you'll want a car while you're there). The contrast in the color of the ocean between the Atlantic and Caribbean side of the island has been featured in countless ads and photos, and even the flight in to the tiny airport is breathtakingly beautiful. (The airport is so small that after you check in for your departing flight, you head across the street to a little bar, where you can drink a beer outside and watch for your plane to arrive on the single airstrip.) If you decide you want a little more action during your stay, Harbor Island is an easy day trip away via ferry - the old churches and homes there, some dating from the 1700's, are quintessential colonial Caribbean style, and the restaurants there are wonderful. You will feel like a cool insider when you take the ferry away from the yacht club back to your private beach.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Unbelievable beach front property. We had coffee with our feet in the water every morning. The apt has everything you need for a weeks stay. The owner Mike is lovely and helpful with island information. Walk to the bar across the street, walk to The queens bath. We love Eleuthera.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+.
Owner response: A great couple, building their dream home on our lovely Island. We are anticipating their upcomming marriage this season, and chose us to host members of their family for the wedding.
