The Cottage-2.5 Blocks from Historic Downtown Square & Whiskey Row
- Minimum stay:2 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
The Cottage is located in the historic residential area just 2 and a half short blocks from The Historic Downtown Courthouse Square. There is a tremendous array of activities at The Square and you are literally only a short 3 to 5 minute walk from The Square and the famous Whiskey Row.
Our premier property for rent near The Historic Downtown Square is The Cottage, which has over 1,550 square feet of living space with hardwood floors and travertine tile throughout. The Cottage has two bedrooms, 1.5 baths, large family room, separate dining room, fully stocked kitchen, dining area with window seat and laundry room. The furniture is well appointed, and provides a romantic, cozy, cottage feel as if you were in Carmel or Monterey. In addition, we are dog friendly, so bring the pooch.
The master bedroom has a king sized bed with a large walk-in closet and nicely appointed sitting/reading area. The master has its own television. The second bedroom has a queen sized bed. In addition, there is a large hide-a-bed in the family room. The Cottage can easily accommodate 5 to 6 people.
The living room has a brand new large Samsung 46 inch flat screen HDTV, HD cable hookup, Blu-Ray DVD that streams Netflix. In addition The Cottage has a high speed WiFi connection. The dining room can accommodate 6 or more for your bountiful Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter dinner!!
The kitchen is fully stocked to the satisfaction of even the most discriminating Chef! The gas stove is nestled within a old brick hood, and guests can watch you prepare meals while seating in the kitchen nook or cozy window seat.
The best is left for last...the intimate secluded patio. One of our recent guests, refers to this patio as The Plaza (see our reviews). Escape through the back door to Paradise, and listen to the birds chirping and relax in the cool shaded patio. Read a book or just meditate. We just renovated the entire patio with pavers, new barbecue and plantings.
Virtually all of our past renters have rented The Cottage for one to three months, and we already have repeat renters reserved for 2013!!! So if you want to enjoy your stay in Prescott at virtually your home away from home, please come and stay at The Cottage.
So what are you waiting for??? Whether you are escaping the scorching heat of the valley or exploring the hidden treasures of The Courthouse Square & Whiskey Row and Prescott's Western Heritage, you need to stay and relax at either The Cottage, The Terrace (VRBO 423532, which is our property next door to The Cottage) or The Artist's Loft (VRBO 336756 our property near historic Park Ave.)!!!

My wife and I have recently stayed at the cottage for 5 nights and had a very positive experience. Larry, the owner, was easy to work with and took his time to ensure we knew all we needed to about our stay. We will definitely be back. Thanks Larry!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Derrell I am glad that The Cottage met your needs for a last minute reservation due to a change of your plans. Look forward to seeing you again, and perhaps next time you will want to stay at another one of our properties:The Townhouse, The Terrace, The Artist's Loft or Our Historic Home. Larry

Walking to the square was wonderful.Recommended for: Pet owners, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

The pictures dont do justice to how beautiful this home is.Its very spacious, super clean, very nice furnishings,an amazing deep bath tub to soak in,just a few blocks to walk downtown,a wonderful patio with BBQ,chairs, chirping birds and has every gadget needed in the kitchen !! The master bedroom has its own own sofa/sitting area which was nice when you wanted to sneak away and read. The owner Larry was super quick on all emails, was at the home to greet us when we arrived, gave us a list of his favorite eating places which were very yummy (loved Lone Star for breakfast) We loved the home and the location and would stay there again. The only reason we didnt give 5 stars was because of the lack of a bedroom door for the guestroom ( it opens into the kitchen) It made it hard when others got up early or wanted to stay up later as they could hear everything. If a door was added I would give 5 stars.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Beautifully decorated and so warm and charming. Great location and neighborhood. The backyard was wonderful as well and would have used it more had it been a tad warmer but okay since the cozy fireplace kept us warm!! As always wished we could have had more time to spend in this lovely cottage!Recommended for: Pet owners, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Ann We are glad that you and your husband were able to stay at The Cottage. Now you have stayed at two of our properties, having stayed at The Artist's Loft (VRBO 336756) previously. We love renting to our repeat renters! Try to come in the Spring or Summer next time to enjoy our fantastic weather.

There are so many wonderful things to say about staying in The Cottage, but to sum up my experience, I loved it! The photographs only hint at how beautiful it is inside and out. This is the kind of home that you walk into and think, "I don't ever want to leave here!" I came here alone with just my golden retriever for a mini-vacation and plan to bring my husband back here with me next time to experience the gorgeous, private patio area in full bloom. Even at this time of year it looked wonderful, especially since I was there the one weekend in March that it snowed! There is a fantastic gas log fireplace that made the evenings very cozy. Everything inside is very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean but feels so homey and comfortable. Larry and Deni have thought of every possible detail - I was really impressed and appreciative, and Larry was always available by phone to answer any questions right away. On top of all that, it's in an area of historic homes with huge trees and is only a few blocks from Whiskey Row! This is definitely our new home away from home in Prescott!Recommended for: Pet owners, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

You will love staying at the Cottage. It has all the amenities for a long-term stay or a romantic week-end. We were guests at the cottage for three months. Larry was so responsive to our initial inquiry.. We did not have much notice to find a place and it also was during Thanksgiving and Christmas. He worked with us and made it happen. As our new home in Prescott was being completed, we totally enjoyed the location of the cottage. We loved walking to downtown Prescott; we took advantage of many local activities, wonderful restaurants, and we even walked to church. For a sampling, we loved Halloween on Mt. Vernon St, election eve on the Courthouse Square, the Light Parade, the Christmas Parade, and the Courthouse Lighting. We also found Ackar Night to be something delightful and very unique. The Cottage has everything you need no matter the length of your stay. We loved the patio for lunch outdoors and grilled often on the grill that is provided. We cooked many meals in the well-appointed kitchen including Christmas Dinner. Larry and Deni treat their guests well, responding immediately to any concerns or questions. They know and love Prescott which is a bonus for all renters. They have all the answers to silly, hard, or just curious questions!!! Our daughter and son-in-law came with their dog for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. All had rave reviews for the Cottage! Can't say too many positives; it has been a perfect place for us. We leave this week looking forward to being permanent residents of Prescott. Enjoy! Mike and AnnRecommended for: Pet owners, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: You two were fantastic guests and our longest renters yet at over 3 months!!! Deni and I are both happy that you have become resident Prescottonians. In 9 months of owning the property we have had only 6 renters, since virtually all have stayed over one month, and out of the 6, 4 have purchased a home in Prescott!!! I should have a real estate license as well being VRBO/Home Away rentor. The Cottage really serves well as a longer term rental, since it is virtually a home that is right downtown near the courthouse square. Again we are happy to assisted in the transition to your new home in Prescott, and thank you for your very kind words.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2012
About the owner: My wife Deni and I found Prescott in 2007, and we will never leave, since Prescott has everything that you could ever hope for. My wife is retired, yet fully engaged in activities. She is a very accomplished artist, and she teaches an informal art class to friends twice a week. In addition, she owns a horse that she rides on trails in and around Granite Mountain. I am still working, and as a result of my job, I travel throughout the United States. Bonner, our 220 pound English Mastiff, is our spoiled kid, since we are empty nesters.
Why the Owner Chose Prescott:
When The Cottage became available for purchase in early 2012, we could not help ourselves so we jumped at the opportunity to purchase this unique and fantastic property. I have watched this property over the last several years, and I always felt its street appeal and exceptional location were perfect for travelers exploring all that Prescott and The Historic Downtown Square has to to offer. In addition as a result of The Great Recession, our 401K like many others became a 201K!!! So we felt another investment in a fantastic VRBO property, would be a sound investment compared to our '201K'!!!
So we purchased the property, and it closed at the end of April, 2012, which was approximately 3 weeks later than planned due to the 'New Economy' and the ridiculous current rules of the mortgage companies!!! We have done substantial changes to the outside patio ('The Plaza') resulting in a fabulous venue, especially for long term guests for one or more months.
This property has been a labor of love, but it is now a shining jewel nestled in the residential historic district. All day long people stroll around the block with their dogs admiring the array of historic and eclectic homes, and The Cottage is a significant part of the area.
In conclusion, although there were lots of hoops and hurdles, we are immensely satisfied with The Cottage (also see our neighboring property, The Terrace at VRBO site 423532), and we are confident that you will be as well...so please visit and enjoy!!!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The uniqueness of this property is the fact that it is like a private home which is so close to all of the activites of the Historic downtown square yet nestled in a quiet well kept neighborhood. The rental experience would be nearly impossible to match in the Historic District!
In addition, the street appeal of the Dutch Bungalow architecture is so alluring, that your anticipation is at a very high level of what the accommodations will be inside The Cottage. Also the neighboring property, The Terrace (VRBO site 423532), provides a great experience as well yet different with its French themes, such that you will want to be a repeat customer whichever rental that you choose, so that you can sample the various themes and appointments of each rental.
