Taken from the guest book: We traveled from the Lake Michigan side of Michigan. We came to Twin Owls Cottage to hike the Rocky Mountains. Our tips and advice for future guests is to see Alberta Falls. It is a fabulous hike that ends with a gorgeous waterfall. At Twin Owls Cottage, I appreciated the owls!, the fireplace, the supplies!, the well-stocked kitchen, the gas grill, the rocking chairs, the visiting elk, the washer and dryer and the closeness to everything! The activities we enjoyed most during our stay are eating at the Grubsteak, hiking at Rocky Mountain National Park and running a race in Estes Park. Our lasting memories are the beauty and peace that we felt everywhere and seeing so many elk so close. Our special message to the host is thank you so much. We have stayed in many rental homes across the country. Yours is the nicest, most peaceful and the "best stocked" home! We also appreciate and love seeing God's Word in your home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We came from Omaha Nebraska and stayed for an entire week. We loved your cottage. Hope to return next year! We appreciated the cleanliness!!! And the beautiful decor. Our lasting memories are seeing a bear and two cubs in Rocky Mountain National Park on June 13th!!! Also, visiting our good friends in Boulder! The activities we enjoyed the most during our stay were the pony rides, touring Rocky Mountain National Park, the paddle boats, walking and exploring. The following are emails that were sent by my guests to me: We have had a great time in Estes Park. Everything in your cottage has been perfect. We even fired up the grill a couple times. I must tell you....we saw a bear and two cubs tonight in the park! We are all so excited!!!! We had a wonderful time. We just left the house. Lights are off, windows shut and locked. Thanks for everything!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Twin Owl Cottage. The cottage was impeccably clean and the décor was very charming. The owner, Carol, was extremely nice and thoughtful. We have 3 little girls (ages 5, 3 & 2) and they absolutely loved it. We were able to walk around town with it being so close by. We would definitely stay there again should our travels bring us back to Estes.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.
Owner response: I want to thank you for such a nice review. It was a pleasure to meet you and Matt and your precious little girls. Hopefully, if you happen to plan another visit to our beautiful Rocky Mountains, you will once again, make Twin Owls Cottage your choice as your home away from home.

We came from Madison WI and Evanston WY for a wedding. Very nice accommodations. Very comfortable cottage. Everyone felt relaxed and at home. The activities we enjoyed most during our stay were walking downtown, watching the animals with our little girls. Our lasting memories will be spending time with old friends and an amazing wedding with a mountain backdrop. Thanks! Email from my guests: Hi Carol, Thank you so much for sharing your cottage with us. We truly enjoyed it and would love to stay there again should our travels bring us back to Estes. We closed the windows and left the keys on the table in the living room. Thank you again, Sincerely, Melissa.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We pastor a church just down the road from Estes Park. We had planned on spending the night but our dog sitter became ill and we had to go back home. Special message to the host: Carol - it's just perfect. You have a way of making a house a home. All the decor is lovely. You are a detail expert. Our tips for future guests - make sure all your arrangements are in stone so you can enjoy every minute! At Twin Owls Cottage we appreciated the warmth and the beauty. We had lunch out front and enjoyed the peace and quiet. We most enjoyed doing nothing! Lasting memories - how fortunate we are to have loving friends that care about us. Thank you.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our 3 days at Twin Owls was great. We came in on Thurs from Indiana, left on Sunday,. Last time in Colorado was 20 years ago. Kids were little at the time. Now adults with children of their own. I offered them a place to stay and they took me up on it. Just the 4 of us. The kids were kids again without the responsibility of parenting. 6 deer visited every morning and evening. A walk downtown offered the site of elk walking the streets of Estes. We enjoyed being here in the off season because everything was so quiet. The park roads were still limited but the sites were fantastic. Seafood Buffet,Smokin Daves Barbecue, Sushi,an afternoon in Boulder were just some of the great times. The home was very comfortable. Anything you may want. They are all talking of bringing there own families to stay. Hopefully they will invite me.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: So glad that you enjoyed your stay at Twin Owls Cottage during your vacation in Estes. I love having the deer and the elk visit while my guests are staying. That is something that most people don't get to see at home. Hopefully you won't wait another 20 years before you visit again in the future. Thank you for making Twin Owls Cottage your home away from home. Sincerely, Carol McSwain, Owner, Twin Owls Cottage

We flew in from Indiana to relax, refresh and enjoy. At Twin Owls Cottage, I appreciated the atmosphere of a home versus a hotel room. Our lasting memories will be the time to connect with my 3 great adult kids. No spouses, no grandkids! Great Time! The activities we enjoyed most during our stay were shopping in Estes Park, the seafood buffet on Friday. Snow on arrival - fresh air of the mountains. Tips and advice for future guests: enjoy Estes, travel in the Park, visit Boulder. Special message to the host: My son wants to buy your home! So nice, comfortable and welcoming! Owner info
Year Purchased: 2012
About the owner: Having loved Colorado from the very first time my family and I visited when I was just a young girl, made me know, that Colorado was where I wanted to live when I grew up. And so, at the age of 20, over 40 years ago, I did just that. When my mother would come to visit me during the summers, Estes Park was one place that she wanted to visit each year. Her love of the mountains, especially the charm of Estes Park and the peaceful serenity and beauty the mountains especially Rocky Mountain National Park is something that we both shared. Which is the reason, when I had the opportunity to purchase Twin Owls Cottage, I did not have to think twice. My family and I love to stay up at our cottage whenever we can. We love the charm and the quaintness of the cottage and the proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park, not to mention the easy walk to downtown Estes Park. This a perfect vacation spot for my family and I believe you will find it to be exactly what you expected as soon as you enter Twin Owls Cottage.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
I fell in love with Twin Owls Cottage not just because of its close proximity to downtown Estes Park and it's easy access to Rocky Mountain National Park, but also because of its appeal and uniqueness. I love the stone and clapboard siding, which for me, reveals the attention to detail of it's first owner and gives it that charm of a bygone era. As I began to choose decor for my home, I strove meticulously to bring back the charm that it was meant to have both inside and out. I believe that I have accomplished what I set out to do and I am sure you will find that same charm as you drive up to the semi-circular drive and park in front of the flagstone walk. Extra care has been taken in every detail with love and appreciation for our charming cottage. We hope that you fall in love with our cottage, the town and the mountains as much as we have. My family welcomes you to our home. Enjoy your stay!
