Wolf Trap Farm features panoramic views of mountains, pastures, horses and cattle, miles of board fencing and beautiful woodlands full of trails. The farm complex is a Virginia Historic Landmark and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Manor House is at the heart of the farm complex, and features 4 bedrooms, 4 baths, two kitchens, a large patio and boxwood garden. Nestled behind the Manor House is the 1856 Servants' Cottage, with its huge covered patio. Just down the hill is the Pond House, a more contemporary cottage overlooking a pond full of bass, bream, frogs and turtles. The setting is truly idyllic, with horses and cattle as part of your scenery.
The Charlottesville area, with its stunning scenery, many wineries, and historic sites such as Monticello, Montpelier, and rural historic districts, has become a top choice for weddings and other special gatherings. Wolf Trap Farm hosted over two-dozen weddings in 2014. The farm also serves as a special place to accommodate families when a wedding is being held at a nearby winery or other special site. A stay at Wolf Trap gives the wedding party or family another unforgettable experience as part of their special week-end.
Many groups use the farm as a place to gather the families and invite the extended family and friends for cook-outs, rehearsal parties, or for the reception.
Our new Pavilion is enclosed on three sides, accommodates 150 under roof and has an overflow patio that can seat another 40 - 50, and has a stage and ample dance floor. There is an oversized ladies' dressing/bathroom, men's bathroom, and a caterer's warming kitchen. Our new hilltop ceremony site is just behind the Pavilion. Be sure to visit the farm's website for more details about booking the farm and Pavilion for your wedding or other large gathering.
All ages are happy at the farm. The little ones play in the great outdoors, the oldsters stroll the grounds, the teenagers and young adults go on excursions on or off the farm, the dads can fish, the girls can soak in the hot tub, and the dogs are particularly happy.
If you have ever driven the winding country roads around Charllottesville, admiring the beautiful estates and wondering what it would be like to visit such places, perhaps for a wedding or party, here is your opportunity.
You can find each house and cottage listed separately on this site, or visit the farm's own website for more pictures and information.
Your guests will find the farm unforgettable. They can hike, see horses, cattle and mountains, catch fish, soak in the hot tub, lounge on the patios, and walk for miles without leaving the farm. They can extend their stay and visit Monticello, Montpelier, the local wineries, UVA, and Wilderness Battlefield. They can eat at wonderful restaurants right in Gordonsville, go trail riding at a neighboring farm, or go tubing or rafting on the James. You can even make your honeymoon getaway in a hot air balloon. ...moreless

Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: I am that nut flying through the air in front of my family up at the farm. I have been a lawyer in the Norfolk area since 1979, and have bought and renovated many rundown properties for fun and profit. My wife, three adult children and their spouses, and four grandchildren are somewhere in the picture.
Why the Owner Chose Charlottesville: In 2003, I was searching for a little mountain getaway cabin to buy, and I got carried away. I get a kick out of fixer-uppers, and this was a huge project when I bought it. The Charlottesville area is fantastic, and Gordonsville is just a gem. I got lucky.
The Unique Benefits at this Estate: Owning the farm is sort of like having your own state park, but it is a lot more upscale. The landscape itself is what originally got my attention, plus the sheer size of the property. And then there are the ponds, the beautiful driveway, the historic buildings.
