This beautiful cedar cabin is right on the river and not only offers proximity to fly fishing but also is located in one of the largest land and wildlife preserves in the area, and only a mile from the popular Hebron Falls. Best of all, you are still just five minutes from downtown Boone and Appalachian State University. This lodge-style rustic home is perfect for families, fishing buddies or corporate groups, and has the added convenience of single level living.
The house has a large all wood living room and kitchen with cathedral ceiling, exposed beams, and lots of windows to look out on the natural surroundings. There is plenty of room for everyone to congregate for games, TV, or just enjoying each other’s company while cooking. The large deck overlooks the river with outdoor dining area and large hot tub.
Wounded Fork has three bedrooms plus a sleeping loft and four baths. The master bedroom has a private bath with custom tile shower with dual showerheads, and a separate wing on the house holds the other two bedrooms, each with doors out onto their own deck. This wing of the house also has a separate entrance, a mini kitchen and gas fireplace.
This eclectic property has several other cozy corner rooms to retreat to and curl up with a good book, sit and daydream, or even tie your own flies in the fly fishing tie station. And if you can’t get away from it all, bring it with you as there is even an office with fax machine and WIFI. This office has a beautiful hand-built desk with soothing surroundings so you can work and relax at the same time.
One of the best parts of this house is that the Boone Fork of the Watauga River adjoins the property. You are allowed to fly fish or swim within the property line to the middle of the river and it offers the best fly fishing to be had. The Boone Fork is the water coming from Price Lake on the Blue Ridge Parkway, with Simms Creek, Green Branch, and Bee Tree Creek (all on Park Service Land) flowing into the Boone Fork before entering Twin Rivers. Boone Fork is the only stream in the entire Watauga River Basin that is classified as “Outstanding Resource Waters.” The NC Division of Water Quality classified the water quality of the Creek as “excellent.” The Creek also supports exemplary natural communities and a number of rare plant and animal species.
This cabin on the river truly offers a unique opportunity for solitude or solidarity in one of the most beautiful and enticing natural settings available in the High Country.
Handicap accessible with limitations.
Wounded Fork has paved access for all but the last mile.
For larger groups, consider renting this cabin with nearby Celtic Mist or Falls Creek Cabin.
Please remember 4WD or chains are always recommended when visiting the mountains in winter.

We had a great time here at Wounded Fork cabin. We wore ourselves out hiking at Grandfather Mountain, hiking again at Hebron Falls, looking for a swimming hole, horse back riding, white water rafting, gem mining, trout fishing, and touring the Linville Caverns. Most of all we enjoyed family time together! Nothing like siblings doing a joint vacation with their families. The cabin accomodated all 11 of us nicely. The jacuzzi was great after all those hikes. The sound of the creek out back is very soothing. Even though we had a lot of rain, we made the best of it. The cousins even made up skits to perform for us on the last day because of the rain. BTW from the cabin to Shulls Mill Road is almost 1 mile (.95) for those who like to walk you can get a nice two mile walk in by going to that stop sign and back

Majestic mountains surround us; Beautiful waters flow beside us. Peace and tranquility reside within us. O, Wounded Fork, do not cry for us, For God's love and beauty have filled us. We prepare to leave at the end of our stay here and I wish we could remain. It rained almost every day we were here, but we managed to play in the creek, ride horses and Dutch Creek Stables, went to Grandfather Mountain, whitewater rafting on the Watauga, trout fishing at Grandfather Trout farm (and gem mining), visited Linville Caverns, and decided not to eat at Pssghettis's as it was a 2 hour wait without reservations. All in all it was a wonderful trip andI would visit again. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us. It was great for 11 people and two families.

As an aspiring fashion designer, these woods gave me many an inspiration. Whether it be a religious understanding or a new design for a party dress, you should know that you can definitely count on these woods to inspire you. This is my last day here with our group of 11 people. My aunt & uncle, mom and dad, 4 cousins and my bro and sis. Tips 4 vacation: Where to get the best jam: Linville Caverns Gift Shop - I'd recommend Black Raspberry Preserves Edge of the World whitewater rafting is awesome. The guides are so crazy and funny! They dunked my cousin, Austin in the water - LOL! Candy Barrel - barrel of fun Trout fishing at the farm was fun - they also have a gem mine. A 14 year old girl & aspiring fashion designer

We had a wonderful time here at the Wounded Fork. We all snowboarded for the first time - wow, that's hard - some of us switched to skiing - others gave up. We really enjoyed the hot tub - thank you so much for that! The view is incredible - we woke up Friday morning and the creek was frozen! Thank you for sharing your house

We thoroughly enjoyed making new memories with our family.l We snow tubed for the first time ever at Hawksnest. Perfect weather conditions on Sunday. Our boys enjoyed hiking around the property. The main living area was perfect for good food, watching football and congregating together as a family. We will be back!

We had a wonderful time. This is a beautiful house! We enjoyed the jacuzzi, very relaxing. We came here to get away for the weekend so we could relax before we all went back to work, and that's exactly what we did! Your house is very cozy and comforting and we hope to come back. Thanks!
