VERY CLOSE TO THE BEACH -- This is a deep water concrete canal which is suited for tying your boat to the dock 30' ft from your back door or just using the dock for swimming and sunning. There are 2 other areas for sunning on the main deck or the upper 3rd deck widow's walk that overlooks OIB. Rafts and crab pots available for the older kids. Lots of decks and lots of space for everyone. The outdoor charcoal grill and picnic table is perfect for those grilled fish or crabs, steaks, or burgers you want to do for the crowd.
Come enjoy the beautiful sunset canal and watch the landscape light up in the evening against the palm trees… rocking in the rocker chairs with a morning cup of coffee, swinging in the hammock, or merely having dinner under the stars with outside dining for 4 on main deck.
If you want to have that crab boil use the outside charcoal grill and lay it all out on the picnic table by the grill. Pier and center of OIB is ½ mile from the house – top end of the canal, short walk to the beach from the top end of the canal location – beautiful views, landscaping and amenities – a very easy house to enjoy your vacation in. About the owner: This house was a dream come true to build something that we could get to from Charlotte in a reasonable amount of time...180 miles door-to-door. We wanted to make the house something that we were comfortable in but also make it functional for guests and renters as well. We wanted to get away from traffic, the hectic life, and find a place that was safe with an easy pace of life with everything we wanted near to us. If we wanted to take on entertainment and night life, then we found we could easily get to Myrtle Beach or Wilmington for more excitement.
Why the Owner Chose Ocean Isle Beach:
We built this house keeping in mind that we would wanted to entertain and do crabbing from the canal and ICW, fishing, and cooking our ocean catches so we thought a large kitchen and open area would be great to visit with our family and friends, but yet we also wanted to make private spaces for just getting away for some 'me' time in different parts of the house.
We were most impressed that OIB is one of the few places one can dock their boat right in their back yard so we thought the property was an excellent choice.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The 'widows walk' on top of the house let's you see over the island to the ocean and catch those breezes from all directions while sunning. The deck on the 2nd floor level is quite nice for summer sleeping if anyone wanted to stretch their hammock there as many of our teens seem to like, the loft / game area is great for setting up puzzles or gathering for a cards, family games, etc. and away from the main downstairs living area. We have spaces for small pets so you can bring your small furry family. You can bike it around the island on the two beach bikes. My personal favorite time is to tether my raft to the dock and float in the canal, dip in for a swim, or just sun.... one very big swimming area for the kids and of course, everyone loves to catch something in the crab pots right in the backyard.
