We were completely captivated by this sweet place. Fabulous location on Waimea Bay. Whales every day. High surf and amazing surfing from seats at the edge of the rocky shoreline. Sunsets, everyday different, always breathtaking. The vintage cottage was warm, welcoming, comfortable and clean. Lovely Hawaiian decor. Big shower and comfortable bed. Sweet little, efficient kitchen. Comfortable living and dining space. Great TV. Lovely breezes blowing through the house. A true home away from home. Jeannie and T have thought of everything. We were able to cook when we wanted or lots of places to go out nearby. Ask T and Jeannie about the Impossibles Pizza Truck and it's location (changes from time to time). Great pizza. The biggest bonus with this place is it's owners, Jeannie and T. They care about your experience and check to make certain you have what you need. They have lots of great suggestions about activities and places to eat. They have lived here for many years, so they are well versed on the island's history and culture. Like having a personal concierge at your disposal. We travel a lot. Never have we had a place hold onto our hearts like this one. We will be back and often. Thank you Jeannie and T for a remarkable experience.

This was probably the last family holiday before the kids fly the nest and oh, what a great holiday it was! The house and location was perfect and there was something for everyone - Beach, surfing and body boarding for husband and son. Sky diving and swimming with the sharks for my adventurous daughter. ATV's (all terrain vehicles) for all, around the most spectacular scenary. Beautiful sunsets, fantastic shopping and lovely people. And, to top it all, we stayed for two weeks at the best holiday house on the North Shore where the hosts are amazing, the house so comfortable and clean that you feel right at home and everything you can think of is there for your use. Thank you Jeannie and T for making this holiday extra special for us, you know we will be back! Lynn, Chris, Katie and Sam x

My husband and I and our two daughters in their 20s stayed at this house for New Year's week. This was our first visit to Hawaii and we wanted to have a home rather than hotel rooms. Waimea Wonder filled the bill beautifully. It is a comfortable, well-maintained home with a well equipped kitchen and all sorts of supplies. The property faces a rocky shoreline and the views of the seas and surfers from the yard and gazebo are mesmerizing at this time of high waves. (On the other hand the winter waves meant that opportunities for swimming and snorkling nearby were limited at this time of year.) Waimea Valley Park, Waimea Bay, and many other beaches (including one with green turtles) are nearby and accessible on foot or by bicycle as well as by car. A sizable supermarket and some other shops and restaurants are also an easy walk away. The drive to the Honolulu area varies by time of day but is generally around 1 hour outside of rush hour. We would be happy to stay here again and would recommend the home to anyone seeking a leisurely location by the water. The owners live in an adjacent house and are very hospitable, ready to offer advice and inquiring whether anything is needed.
Owner response:We love watching families have a wonderful time with their adult children. You were great guests and we enjoyed your visit, too. We hope you will return with the girls again.

Oustanding get-a-way!! We could not have chosen a better place to vacation. Fifteen minute walk from Waimea Bay, Five minute drive to Waimea Valley, one and a half miles to Pipeline and two and a half miles to Sunset Beach - what more could you ask for! I would recommend this to anyone. Ted's bakery is a great place for breakfast and just a five minute drive.
Owner response:Wonderful meeting both of you and we look forward to your next visit!!!!! Happy New Year!!

Having just returned from a two week vacation in Hawaii, I can honestly stay our days at Waimea Wonder were the best of them all. This comfortable home is in a perfect location for our activities (surfing, climbing, snorkelling, exploring, relaxing) and Jeannie and T provide a great home-like atmosphere and much advice and equipment to support our adventures. The short walk to famous Waimea Bay, Three Tables, and Foodland made for total convenience. The bikes provided took us to other nearby beaches. We had full access to the yard out front with the gazebo and chairs, and it was truly an amazing place to be, even just to watch the sunset, or the waves. We reccomend Waimea Wonder to anyone planning a stay on Oahu, and we plan to return and enjoy this great place again.
Owner response:Mahalo for the great review!!! You were the perfect guests! Please come visit with us again and stay longer.

Dear Jeannie and T, It was so wonderful to meet you both and have the opportunity to stay in such a unique old bungalow near the ocean. We loved being able to see all those whales out in the water splashing and playing and being so close to all the great beaches. Watching the surfers was also a treat. Thank you both so much for your hospitality! To anyone contemplating renting this guest house, we highly recommend that you do so. This house, though old, is immaculate and tastefully decorated with an island theme and just so cute! Others have said this already in their feedback, but it really does have everything you need and more. This house is not directly on the water but behind the main house and you walk down a garden path with lush tropical plants to the back yard where the gazebo is. The view here is spectacular and we saw many sunsets. This property is private and very well maintained. We didn't use the BB Q grill as it was not convenient to the rental but in the back yard to the edge of the property and the pool table was broken just so you know, but everything else in the listing here is exactly as stated. From this property you can travel all over the island easily and when the waves were choppy and best for surfers, we just drove to another beach on the other side of the island. The grocery is just a short walk away and there is a great bakery nearby as well as a pizza truck and fresh shrimp also just a short drive away. We bought lots of fresh local fruit at stands along the road. To sum it up, we had a fantastic vacation with our two teenagers and never had a dull moment. I long to go back already! Thank you, thank you, thank you Jeannie and T!

If you are looking for the best place to stay on Oahu I would look no further. I experienced, first hand, how beautiful the island is from a view that is second to none. The location will leave you speechless, the hospitality is beyond words and the beauty of the island unspeakable. I have traveled all over the world and stayed in thousands of places and Waimea Wonder on the North Shore of Oahu is one of the best! Nothing else comes close to second! Maholo!
Owner response:Thanks JohnnieGee!! You were the perfect guest, and we would love to have visit again soon.

What a wonderful place to stay!! My family and I stayed for a week and loved every minute of it. Loved the fact that they are in between two BEAUTIFUL beaches that are both in walking distance. And the hospitality of the owners, Jeannie and T was beyond excellent. As one posted had said, you don't feel as if you are renting, you feel as if you are among good friends. We felt so at-home in this beautiful 100+ year old Plantation-Style home. It is so comfortable and cute inside. What ever you think you may need (snorkel gear, beach towels, sunblock) is already there! The only complaint that I have was that the week went by way to fast and it was very sad to leave such a beautiful place on the island. Thanks again Jeannie and T for being such great hosts and for making our 1st experience renting a vacation home a very good experience!
Owner response:Thank you for being such wonderful guests at Waimea Wonder!!!!! We would love to have you send your friends and of course visit us again. Having such nice guests makes the whole experience so rewarding for us, too. We feel privileged to have had you stay with us.

The house was great. Simple, but neat, clean and comfortable in an excellent location. The owners were wonderful and really made us feel welcome. Even invited us to join their family and friends for a new years eve party on the lawn overlooking the ocean. It was only one week, but we had a fabulous holiday and we plan to return next year. My apology to Jeannie and T for not posting this review much sooner.

Hi Jeanne and T, I wanted to let you know your oceanfront cottage was a big hit with my family. The furnishings and decorations give the cottage a unique personal touch that makes you feel right at home. After a long day of activities, the girls would say what we were all feeling, “I can’t wait to get back to our Waimea beach house”. Before we found your listing, we’d been searching ads for a week. After numerous vacations in Hawaii we know what we like. We wanted an oceanfront house that you can walk out the door to watch the sunset. We wanted open windows to let the breeze blow through. I wanted to hear the birds in the morning and didn’t want to live behind a doorway, in a hall, in a high-rise. The girls love tropical gardens and get a kick out of photographing geckos under the porch light. This is the Hawaii I’ve treated them to every few years on Maui. The criterion was we wanted it all on Oahu’s North Shore because of a wedding reception and family reunion in Waikiki.Just before I was about ready to throw in the towel and settle for a townhouse condo, my wife spotted your place. We jumped on it and it was everything we expected and more. What really was the icing on the cake was your good old-fashioned Hawaiian graciousness. T made sure to ask us if there was anything we needed every day. This made it easy to inquire about the bikes and the snorkel gear. We used both several times and had a blast. Then we got to talking about surfing and he loaned us a video of the big waves that rolled into Waimea in 2006. Watching the surfers catch those 40 foot waves was awesome, and it was filmed from your front yard! We feel privileged to have stayed at your house right next to Waimea Bay. I have many wonderful memories of the North Shore from when I was a young man, now my family has their own set of memories that we will all share together. Thanks for making our North Shore vacation an experience we will lovingly remember over the years.
Owner response:Mahalo for being such wonderful guests!!! Hope to see you again.

I have been home now for 1 week and each and every day I wake up sad that I am not awakening at this spectacular home. I can still recall the swooching of the palm fronds and the birds sweetly chirping as the warm sunshine beckoned me out of a very comfy bed. I stayed there from April 27th - May 3rd with my boyfriend, his mother who lives in Tiburon, CA, and his uncle from Melbourne, Australia. The house went above & beyond all of our expectations! We knew it would be beuatiful and cozy, but we didn't know that it would have everything we could ever need...the kitchen is fully stocked, we never ran out of toilet paper or tissue, the beds were very comfortable...no little detail was overlooked. Stunning tropical flowers welcomed us to our home for the week and everything, and I mean everything, was clean. We felt right at home! The house also has a wonderful gazebo overlooking the vast Pacific, and if you're lucky you can see Kauai in the distance. We enjoyed many a breakfast on that gazebo, and most every dinner. Some fine wine in the evening as you watch the glorious sunset...life does not get much better than this! The house also has an outdoor shower, which feels great after a day at the beach. And are you ready for this... it has warm water! There are also snorkel masks for your use, a ping pong table, couches for lounging on the front lanai, and 2 very affectionate sweet kitty cats. One named Nala, who will always greet you as you arrive home. The other named Tink, and he will always come to the window downstairs and say hello. Location can not be beat! A short 5 minute walk and you're at Waimea Bay. A short walk in the other direction and you're snorkeling at Shark's Cove. Just a few minutes further up the road and you're at Banzai Pipeline, home to big wave surf. Ted's Bakery is the place to go for freshly baked croissants (just get there early), Foodland is wakking distance, and Impossibles Pizza is an absolute MUST! The super nice and accommodating owners of the home (and very lucky... would love to trade my Broojlyn apt for their home any day!) did a marvelous job landscaping. Everywhere you go there's a palm swaying in the breeze or a Hibiscus displaying its beauty. It's a tropical paradise! We miss T and Jeanine and want to thank them for making our stay on the North Shore one we will hold dear to our hearts forever.

We just came back from the trip in North Shore, Hawaii. The beautiful rental home and the friendly landlords set the wonderful baseline for our vacation. The house is fully equipped with all the appliances and touched with details, so we feel just like staying home. There are tour maps, snorkels, and even bug repellent. Not to mention the 4 flashlights we fully used at the power outage time in Hawaii. Jeannie, T, and their entire family are very nice peole and treat us like friends. They gave us valuable trip advises and shopping tips. At New Year's eve, T put out his fireworks and showed my two sons how to light the fireworks. When we asked to borrow bicycles, T happily pulled out the bikes and pumped in the air. I just revisisted the pictures on this web site. All I can say is that the house and view are more beautiful than the pictures and the landlords are the best we can find. Mehalo. Hope to see you in the future. Mei, Michael, James and Eric

People have used the words perfect and exceptional to describe an experience or place so often that they have almost lost their power of description. To describe the sunsets, shooting stars, whales, Northshore atmosphere, stunning ocean, the wonderful hosts and ideal cottage without falling into cliches is impossible. It was perfect. Jamie & Ali. Waimea Wonderful! What a perfect North Shore home away from home for our honeymoon. We feel blessed that we found your rental for our stay. It was a magnificent week here and what a great way to spend our last evening enjoying you and your neighbor's company on the gazebo, playing the beautiful instruments you made here with your own hands. You are lovely people. Thanks for sharing your slice of heaven with us. We will hurry back, and send our friends to stay here in the meantime. Mahalo and All the best.
