FULLY RENOVATED IN 2008.
Rue Xavier Privas, Paris 5th, St Michel, pedestrian area.
Spacious and comfortable, this 300 square feet studio apartment is completely new and decorated in the spirit of the Latin Quarter.
Really beautiful and fully renovated, the apartment can house up to four people, in the most demanded area of Paris. It is located at the angle of rue St Severin and rue Xavier Privas, in the heart of the Latin Quarter, metro station St Michel. The studio is located on the second floor of a very nice building, overlooking a pedestrian street and the beautiful Church St Severin.
It has air conditioning + DSL available for internet connection.
It is a perfect place for resting and enjoying the most lively and typical area of Paris. The studio is centrally located and close to public transportation, cafés, restaurants, supermarkets, churches, bakeries, and banks.
The studio features a living room with a mezzanine (loft), one king-size bed, one sofa bed, cable TV, LCD screen, DVD player, stereo with Ipod dock, telephone, and AIR CONDITIONNING. The full kitchen features a stove, microwave, refrigerator, and washer/dryer machine. Full bathroom. All linen, cookware, and kitchen utensils are included.
History of the Latin Quarter: In the Heart of “Quartier Latin” and very near to St Germain des Prés, The Rue St Severin is a typical narrow and lively street, with book shops, cafés, and cafeterias. The best known of the picturesque riverside streets are the medieval rue de la Huchette, and rue St Severin, from which the rue du Chat-qui-Pêche ("Street of the Fishing Cat") leads to the Quai Saint-Michel.
Two churches, Saint-Séverin (1489-94), Gothic and humble, and Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre (1165 - 1220), which belongs to the transitional period between the Romanesque and the Gothic, rise from the tangle of streets. The apartment has a very nice view on the beautiful Church St Severin. The square in front of the church offers one of the finest views of Notre-Dame de Paris. Home since the 13th century of the Sorbonne, the Quarter has come to evoke bookish Bohemians scribbling works in-progress in attic apartments and corner cafes.
The apartment stands in the Heart of the Latin Quarter, two minutes away from St Michel station and the Seine, and six to seven minutes walk to Notre Dame. Most demanded and visited area in Paris by foreign visitors, the Latin Quarter also houses the most typical and nicest apartments in the Heart of the French Capital.
Call us! We will be glad to give you more information about the apartment and some very useful hints about Paris!

We stayed in Feb 2007. A great value in a wonderful location. I hope we can stay again! Almost all of Paris seemed to be at our door step. We walked almost everywhere with a 10 year old and a baby in a stroller in tow. We both lost weight from all the exercise (despite all the wonderful food!). The train station is about a block away and we did use the train a few times . This is a fantastic location and very safe. Since we were two sisters traveling with children it was important to us to be in a neighborhood that was busy and safe. The neighborhood had many excellent restaurants. There was a bakery around the corner and the children loved the crepes ( mom and aunt too!). The windows in the apartment are terrific – just huge and over look the active street life below. All four of us we were very comfortable and didn’t feel cramped at all. We had a wonderful week

We spent a week in this apartment, which we consider to be value for money. The apartment is light, with large windows which provide good ventilation and a good view of the street life below. The bathroom is excellent (good shower, heated towel rail, hairdryer and straightener supplied) and the kitchen is also well-appointed with various appliances including a washer/dryer. The loft bed is comfortable and there is ample cupboard space in the entry for clothing and baggage. (Cupboards also contain an iron and ironing board.) The location is excellent as it is very close to the Metro, a variety of restaurants and shops, as well as tourist sites. The proximity to this busy area means that it can be noisy, as it was on the Friday night we arrived. Likewise the garbage trucks come through at about 6am (8 on Sunday). However, we really didn't find this a problem as we wanted to start the day early to make the most of our stay in this wonderful city. Although we didn't meet Pascal, he was helpful in providing any necessary information via email. (We also found the 2 cleaning ladies very friendly and helpful.) The owner has obviously addressed issues from past reviews as the apartment now has high-speed Wi-Fi as well as an A/Cond unit. We can also highly recommend the airport transfer (Serge) which Pascal can arrange.
Owner response:Thanks very much Ann. Hope to meet you on your next trip. Pascal

We had a wonderful few days at Rue Xavier Privas. The location was ideal for us, as our daughter has a chronic illness and needed to return in the middle of each day for a sleep, before going out again in the late afternoon to see Paris. We appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, bathroom and washing machine facilities.

We did a considerable amount of research to find the best available price. My friends call me cheap I just consider myself frugal. So I picked this apartment because of the location but mainly because of the low price. Well we arrived earlier than expected but Regis, Pascal's business partner was there to meet us. He was polite and gave us several recommendations on places to eat and to visit. The apartment was small but more than adequate for the 2 of us. The location was great. Walking distance to many of the attractions including Notre Dame, St. Chapelle, St. Louis Island, Conciergerie, Cluny Museum, and St. Michael's Square. There were many places to eat just steps away from the apartment. There were 2 metro stations very close to us. We plan on going back to Paris next year (2011) with our kids, so we will need to find a bigger place. But we do plan on staying at one of Pascal's other apartments. The one thing you should know is that the area is very clean. But to keep it clean trucks go by early in the morning around 6:00 AM to pick up the trash. They can be loud, after the first few days we got used to the noise and we were able to sleep through it.

I've been to Paris before and I'll be coming back again, and each time I come back I want to stay in Xavier Privas! There's nothing that isn't close by and, because the area's so busy, it's safe at night. The apartment and the whole neighbourhood is so clean, it's conveniently located three minutes away from the Metro, there's about 50 restaurants side by side in the area - I could go on and on. Great place, made for a great stay. Will definitely recommend and use again.

We have just returned from a wonderful pre-Christmas week in this apt. Our trip was half business and half pleasure and this apt made both very enjoyable. The people watching from the windows was fantastic and the proximity to restaurants, Notre Dame, shopping, the Seine was perfect. We walked, ate and drank our way through a wonderful week. The apt had everything we needed and more....location, location, location!
