This is a cosy apartment right in the middle of the Latin Quarter. Located in great area of cobbled pedestrian lanes. Plenty of restaurants all around. There is a supermarket and patisserie/boulangerie close by. Notre Dame, the Sorbonne, St. Germain de Pres and the Luxembourg Gardens are all within a short walk. The Musee D'Orsay, the Louvre, the Tuileries (with the Orangerie and Jeu de Paume Museums) and the Marais neighborhood with the Rue Rivoli (great shopping!) are all within an easy walk. This is definitely one of the better areas of Paris in which to stay.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent a week in this apartment, which we consider to be value for money. The apartment is light, with large windows which provide good ventilation and a good view of the street life below. The bathroom is excellent (good shower, heated towel rail, hairdryer and straightener supplied) and the kitchen is also well-appointed with various appliances including a washer/dryer. The loft bed is comfortable and there is ample cupboard space in the entry for clothing and baggage. (Cupboards also contain an iron and ironing board.) The location is excellent as it is very close to the Metro, a variety of restaurants and shops, as well as tourist sites. The proximity to this busy area means that it can be noisy, as it was on the Friday night we arrived. Likewise the garbage trucks come through at about 6am (8 on Sunday). However, we really didn't find this a problem as we wanted to start the day early to make the most of our stay in this wonderful city. Although we didn't meet Pascal, he was helpful in providing any necessary information via email. (We also found the 2 cleaning ladies very friendly and helpful.) The owner has obviously addressed issues from past reviews as the apartment now has high-speed Wi-Fi as well as an A/Cond unit. We can also highly recommend the airport transfer (Serge) which Pascal can arrange.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks very much Ann. Hope to meet you on your next trip. Pascal

We had a wonderful few days at Rue Xavier Privas. The location was ideal for us, as our daughter has a chronic illness and needed to return in the middle of each day for a sleep, before going out again in the late afternoon to see Paris. We appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, bathroom and washing machine facilities.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We did a considerable amount of research to find the best available price. My friends call me cheap I just consider myself frugal. So I picked this apartment because of the location but mainly because of the low price. Well we arrived earlier than expected but Regis, Pascal's business partner was there to meet us. He was polite and gave us several recommendations on places to eat and to visit. The apartment was small but more than adequate for the 2 of us. The location was great. Walking distance to many of the attractions including Notre Dame, St. Chapelle, St. Louis Island, Conciergerie, Cluny Museum, and St. Michael's Square. There were many places to eat just steps away from the apartment. There were 2 metro stations very close to us. We plan on going back to Paris next year (2011) with our kids, so we will need to find a bigger place. But we do plan on staying at one of Pascal's other apartments. The one thing you should know is that the area is very clean. But to keep it clean trucks go by early in the morning around 6:00 AM to pick up the trash. They can be loud, after the first few days we got used to the noise and we were able to sleep through it.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/3

I've been to Paris before and I'll be coming back again, and each time I come back I want to stay in Xavier Privas! There's nothing that isn't close by and, because the area's so busy, it's safe at night. The apartment and the whole neighbourhood is so clean, it's conveniently located three minutes away from the Metro, there's about 50 restaurants side by side in the area - I could go on and on. Great place, made for a great stay. Will definitely recommend and use again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We have just returned from a wonderful pre-Christmas week in this apt. Our trip was half business and half pleasure and this apt made both very enjoyable. The people watching from the windows was fantastic and the proximity to restaurants, Notre Dame, shopping, the Seine was perfect. We walked, ate and drank our way through a wonderful week. The apt had everything we needed and more....location, location, location!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We stayed in Feb 2007. A great value in a wonderful location. I hope we can stay again! Almost all of Paris seemed to be at our door step. We walked almost everywhere with a 10 year old and a baby in a stroller in tow. We both lost weight from all the exercise (despite all the wonderful food!). The train station is about a block away and we did use the train a few times . This is a fantastic location and very safe. Since we were two sisters traveling with children it was important to us to be in a neighborhood that was busy and safe. The neighborhood had many excellent restaurants. There was a bakery around the corner and the children loved the crepes ( mom and aunt too!). The windows in the apartment are terrific – just huge and over look the active street life below. All four of us we were very comfortable and didn’t feel cramped at all. We had a wonderful weekDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I stayed in the flat 5/9/2007 to 5/13/2007. It was great! There were 4 of us and we all had a great stay. The location and the price could not be beat. Food, shops, train, everything you needed was right outside. I am planning on staying here the next time I come to Paris for a visit!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My mom and I stayed in this apartment for a week as I was arriving in Paris to study for a year. It proved to be an altogether comfortable, enjoyable and convenient during our week together and my time adjusting to french culture. It is probably one of the best locations for getting the most out of the city, walking distance to many great areas. St Michel is a lot of fun any time day or night, restaurants down all the little streets, we would always say to ourselves, "We live in party central!" Definitely a good bet!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My family of four just stayed at the studio loft at rue Xavier Privas for a week. We absolutely loved it. We have two daughters, 16 and 13 and we all had the time of our lives in the most elegant city in the world. The apartment is compact but charming and has wonderful windows looking out onto an exciting street along with everything you need to really enjoy your stay. The area is lively and very convenient to all attractions. There are literally hundreds of restaurants to choose from right at your doorstep. It is close to two metro stations that will take you anywhere you want to go in Paris, in no time. I found the rental process easy and worry free and Pascal was very pleasant and professional to deal with. It was a most enjoyable trip - a family highlight - and I doubt we will ever rent a hotel room again, if we can help it.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We've just spent an incredible week in this delicious studio-loft with our 12 1/2 year old grand-daughter. It was her first trip to Paris. What a treat to be so incredibly convenient to the "best" of Paris....everything worth seeing only minutes away! We shared breakfast every day at the loft then headed out for another unique adventure! We even made friends with a resteraunteur right at our doorstep whose help was invaluable to us. Three cheers for a "five star" experience. Thanks Pascal for making our trip so pleasurable. Sue, Hank & ShelbyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a lovely stay on the Rue Xavier Privas. The apartment was our Paris home for a week, and the location was perfect for exploring Paris by foot. The street activity was amusing to watch. WONDERFUL apartment! We loved having our own "home away from home" during our week in Paris. Very close to the Metro for all our sightseeing trips. We were so thankful to have a kitchen to prepare breakfast and a late night snack - saved us money so we could buy more souvenirs! No problems with anything in the apartment or getting our deposit back when checking out. We would recommend this apartment and Pascal to anyone traveling to Paris!Did you find this review helpful? Like all the other guests who have written views, we thoroughly enjoyed Pascal's studio. After a succession of hotels in various parts of France and Spain it was great to have a fully furnished studio in the most interesting area of Paris. We walked everywhere and were always glad to come home to Rue Xavier Privas. We also enjoyed sitting at our open window watching life flow by in the street below (not to mention the puppet man and the match-trick man). We'd stay again if we ever returned to ParisDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

May 5, 2005 Just returned after spending 8 wonderful days in this cozy, comfortable studio on Rue Xavier Privas. What a treat. The studio has all the ammenities one could ever want or need in order to feel right at home. The location is exciting and very easy to reach anywhere in Paris including CDG (via metro). This is my second time using Rental France for apartment rental. Both times have far exceeded my expectations. Pascal is most helpful and professional. Am looking forward to using them again next April.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We just returned from a 5 day stay at 24 Rue Xavier Privas in Paris. We had a wonderful vacation and were very pleased with the accomodations. The flat was very centrally located, close to the metro system, and there was a huge variety of choices for dinner just outside the door. The flat had every amenity needed, and Pascal was a wonderful host. We would definitely choose to stay here again should we return to Paris.Did you find this review helpful? Comment Text: Comment Text: We have never stayed at an apartment before - and will never stay in a hotel again. Pascal was on time, the apartment was very clean, and very central to Paris life, close to two metro stops. Great active life, and having walked just about eveyplace there is to walk in Paris, and having seen a number of hotels, we think the housing, location and cost was just about pefect. We really enjoyed ourselves, and couldn't ask for any better place to stay. If you like plenty of activity and food, with a wonderful view, this is the place to be. I'd recommend this apartment to our friends. Peace.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Dear Pascal, I loved your apartment. It is really central and I walked to most of the places of interest by feet and can you imagine ! that I dropped all my plans to go inside Paris's important touristict spots. I rather walked and looked at those monuments from outside to see it's charm from outside and walked and looked and marvelled at how beutifuly Paris's old townscape is still kept alive. How glorius to see a town so well preserved ! Paris does not need it's art museums and modern sites to charm who is well conversed about it's treasure of heritage. I rather found "Defense" with it's modern townscape real ugly. And I found China town, Indian Quarter and oriental quarter very cosmopolitan, (If your future clents need to know the Metro is Tolbiac, Strasbourg Saint-Denis and Belleville respectively), as well as the whole area near rue xavier privas. Your place was full of small restaurants and take-aways, that we never cooked for 5 nights, except making coffees in morning. Thank you for choosing property to rent in such a central place.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Wonderful apartment in a great location It is very clean and spacious with a big kitchen and modern bath. It had everything I needed to make my weeklong stay comfortable and relaxing. I was there through some cold November weather and the place is warm and charming. . The view of St. Severin church from the living room window is just perfect.Did you find this review helpful?
