We actually stayed here many years ago.. I believe it was September of 1997 but this site only allowed putting in dates within the past year. Yes.. I know. A long time ago. But I had never gotten around to reviewing our stay here. We wrote in the guest book that was at the home but I wasn't aware that there was a place to write one online until now. I am thinking of going back with my father and 2 kids and decided to look this place up to see if they were still renting. To my delight they are. I am definitely going to see about booking time there at the end of this year. I can't say enough good things about it. The location was perfect and Sili and Emelia were the most amazing people. We considered them friends when we left. I even named my daughter Emelia. Because I had hoped that by giving her that name that she would carry some of the same loving and kind energy that the she has. I always thought that someday I would return when I had kids.. and now that time has come. It's nice to see that they are still there. I am so happy about that. I would very highly recommend staying at this location. At the time they had a taxi that was dedicated to us the entire time. He would take us into town whenever we wanted. But many times we preferred to experience it like most others and take the bus. If you do this be sure to take plenty of wipes! You will come back a few shades darker due to the dust kicked up by the bus. That is if they still have dirt roads. When we left we had heard that Australia was wanting to come in and pave the roads for them. I hope they didn't. It was perfect the way that it was. There was a restaurant a few doors down that I believe was an English woman's home. It was amazing! We went several times. There was a store just a short walk the opposite way that had everything we needed. Even warm samosas in the morning that we would take on our hikes. If we wanted fish.. Sili and Emelia would be catching it while we were out and have it ready for us in time for dinner. It was a very quiet and private location but many nights we enjoyed spending time with them and their family. If you really want to experience the culture and the people without all the commercialism.. Taveuni and this home would be the ideal way to do that.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
