Acl,Formula 1,Sxsw--'West O' House with Central Austin Convenience
- Minimum stay:2-3 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
'West O' House or 'Cottage' is VERY COMFORTABLE and convenient to all Austin events, this is your home away from home, a newly remodeled 1950's home. This home has hardwood floors throughout. There is a very nice living and dining room, great new kitchen with granite counters and new stainless appliances.
The largest bedroom has a KING bed, the 2nd bedroom has a Queen bed. Both bedrooms have makeup stations with mirrors provided, this helps to free up the single bathroom. The bathroom is very nice, bright and cheery! There is a daybed in the bonus room where there is a new washer and dryer for extended stays of over 5 days please.
You will enjoy the easy in and out features of this home. No lobby to walk through just walk right in from the covered carport and you are home!
This home has been decorated with much attention to details that will make it comfortable for guest! You will enjoy the Texas art on the walls and the artist touches throughout the home.
I call this place 'West O' (for the western influence in the decorating and also for the street it is on). I also call it 'The House on the Corner' which is important because this makes it easy to get in and out of! You will find lots to do within 2 miles of this house! It is between South Congress (So Co) & South Lamar (So La) and 2 blocks from So 1st St. Austin's downtown is just 2 miles away! I love the great location of this home!

Great stay at West O
Great stay at West O

West O' was our first VRBO experience and it was GREAT. The pictures don't do it justice. West O is immaculate, sweetly decorated and equipped with everything you might need for a hassle free vacation. The beds and bedding are superb for a great nights sleep. Prior to the vacation I was concerned about the location, but it turned out perfect. The rental is very close to S. 1st and S. Congress which, after our stay, I would agree is the most unique and fun part of Austin. Tessa knows Austin and is readily available to answer all your questions and provide great recommendations. The home has some very good books and pamphlets to also guide your stay. When looking at the VRBO pictures, the outside does not look as inviting. However, the table and chairs on the car port provided us adequate place to visit outside and the traffic noise was not a problem. I wish we could have stayed longer than the 3 nights to take in more of what Austin has to offer. I also would have loved to stay at West O longer and take advantage of the amenities including the kitchen. I highly recommend West O and would love to return. Thank youRecommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Nancy for the great review! I hope to be able to do something with the landscape this spring! I am happy that you had a great time in Austin! You were a terrific guest!

If you're looking for an immaculately kept property with comfortable beds, high quality linens and towels with a good shower thrown in, then rent this cottage at once. In addition to the basics I've listed, the owner is attentive and helpful. The house has comfortable furniture including several comfortable chairs, so your guests aren't perching on kitchen chairs when visiting. The kitchen is very well equipped, and as I was baking for the holidays, the owner supplied the special baking tools I needed. In Austin, location is everything and this house is six blocks from a major grocery store, and easy access to the freeways as well as all the entertainment of the SOCO area and downtown. There are some of those great Austin restaurants within walking distance. This house is a gem, and I wouldn't hesitate to rent it again.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Jan, you are the best guest! I hope you will be back! Bless you and your family. Hope the wedding is the best event of the year for all your family!

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: Hi, I am Tessa, the owner of 707 'West O' House. I graduated from the University of Texas and stayed in Austin, got married and have raised all four of my children in Austin. My youngest will be getting married soon and the older three are married and have families of their own. I have 5 grandchildren and love every part of being a grandmother. Larry, the artist, and I have been remodeling the 'West O' cottage for the past year and are excited that it is finished and ready for company! We (T&L) have put a lot of Care (TLC) into making this a special place for guest visiting Austin. We live in south Austin, very close to the property, and are available to help if we can.
Why the Owner Chose Bouldin:
I saw this cottage for sale on the corner and decided to call about it. The home was built in 1949 and was in need of a lot of TLC. I decided to buy it and see if I could put this property to good use. I hope that you will agree that I have succeeded.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
My vision for the house has been realized. When I first walked into the home I liked it! The hardwood floors might have a chance, the small built in phone nook, original to the home, is not seen in homes today. The yellow tile in the bath room would look nice with a new tile floor and a new toilet. The old bathroom heater on the wall would be a cute towel rack. The walk-through room would make a nice laundry/rest area.
There is a carport that could be a nice place to sit outside on a cool day and there is a front porch for a cup of coffee early mornings on the weekend!
I remodeled the kitchen and it looks great!
