The overall appearance and cleanliness of this rental was great. If you are expecting an upscale swanky cabin then this is not for you. We loved the homey feel and you would never even know there was a tenant downstairs as she was very quite. The bedding was nice and the homeowners had laundry soap, dish soap, paper towels, etc. already there which was very convenient. The cabin was great for our party of four adults and two newborns. I would not however recommend this to anyone with a baby who can crawl up to age 3. The reason for this being that there is a huge heater vent (maybe 16x20") almost right in front of the entrance to the hallway and could pose a hazard for a small child if they were to play on it. There isn't really a way to block it. For the WIFI that is available, make sure you request the password prior to arrival. We did not know and had to wait until the evening of our second night before we got the password emailed from the owner. Mostly an issue for us because my husband had some work things to finish up. The cell service is not the greatest once you leave town. The hill leading up to the cabin (sugar pine rd.) can be quite steep and intimidating in the snow to someone without four wheel drive. We chose to go up Timberland which was the street before as it was not quite as steep and easier to climb. The location of the cabin is perfect for anyone who loves Homewood and only a short drive into Tahoe City. One suggestion to the homeowners would be to add MORE lighting in the house. Even if it just consisted of tall floor lamps that would allow some more light in. We had lamps from other rooms in the living room just to have some sort of brighter lighting. Also, the front door is very hard to shut and lock. Even the strong men tried and it took them a bit to get the door shut enough to lock it. Thank you for letting us stay here and we would love to come back again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and are sorry for any inconveniences you experienced. We just purchased the cabin at the end of the summer and did most of the renovations ourselves, so we are learning as we go. There is a floor heater vent, but also a wood stove in the corner of the family room that we use when we go up and it heats the cabin perfectly if you want to avoid the floor vent getting hot with crawling children. We do now have the wifi passcode listed with some cabin guidelines on the fridge in the kitchen and we will direct people to access the property by Timberland Way. We will continue to maintain the property in a spotless condition and keep our rates competitive in relation to more upscale properties. We noticed the lighting issue also. We will be getting some floor lamps and table lamps for the family room. We appreciate any feedback and will do our best to accomodate. As far as the door situation I am unsure as to why that happened because we were up there a few days later and didn't have those problems. If there are other problems with it, please let us know and we will have someone there to take a look at it. Thank you so much!

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2012
About the owner: Our family purchased the property this summer and went through it from wall to wall: new wall-to-wall carpet, linoleum, and paint. We are too involved within children's' sports to fully enjoy the winter and look forward to the spring and summer.
Why the Owner Chose Timberland:
We rented in this neighborhood for years and finally had an opportunity to buy. This location is perfectly located to see all of Tahoe's beautiful sites, enjoy the snow skiing, or all summer activities with trails and beaches only a short walk away. It is close to everything, but far enough from the highway to be quiet and safe for children with a school and park nearby. This is a great family location.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The kitchen will allow you to prepare your favorite foods and you can relax in the living-room. Fantastic restaurants and bars are only minutes away if you choose to dine out. Everything on the West Shore, Tahoe's Best Shore, is truly at your fingertips in this family home.
