You deserve a secluded restful vacation in the mountains. This is the perfect site for family reunions or large groups of friends to gather! Enjoy nature and all it has to offer deep in the Appalachian Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest in Tennessee, 22 miles east of Vonore & Tellico Plains near the vast Citico Wilderness Area.
The Cottage at Hemlock Grove, located only 50 minutes from I-75 or the Knoxville Airport, tucks you away in extreme privacy and luxury in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Located in a private hollow on 300 acres you can immerse your senses in all that Nature has to offer. Spend days exploring streams, old growth forests, an old mountaineer homestead, and expansive, unspoiled views after hiking to a private mountain top ridge. This is a true Tennessee mountain experience without roughing it!
For its remoteness, this upscale cottage is surprisingly close to many attractions. Bring your jet-skis or boat and enjoy Tellico and Chilhowee Lakes. Boat ramps are just a few miles away. Abundant trout run in gorgeous, rushing, Citico Creek just minutes away. The Citico forest service road runs along the creek for twenty magnificent miles through the Cherokee National Forest to the breathtaking Cherohala Skyway (Hwy 165) and Indian Boundary Lake.
Thirteen trails, within the National Forest, totaling 57.4 miles provide access to much of Citico Creek Wilderness. For a fun day trip, Dollywood and the other attractions of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are less than two scenic hours away (76 miles). Scenic drive enthusiasts will love the proximity to the 'tail of the dragon' or Highway 129 to Deal's Gap.

Seven guys got together for a weeklong fishing trip. We chartered for stripers and fished for trout. The accomadations were as advertised, and worked out very well for all of us. We found the rental to be well furnished, clean, and accurately represented. If we were to do this trip again, I would not hesitate to use this rental again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Bill, Thanks so much for the great review. We're pleased that you and your fishing buddies enjoyed the cottage's amenities and location. Hope you caught some trout and were able to use the new set of pots and pans for some delicious meals! Please come back soon and don't forget about our other rental "Lakewood" for groups of 8 or less just a mile from the boat ramp for Tellico and Chilhowee Lake HappyTravels, Lee

We love staying at the Cottage at Hemlock Grove. It's a comfortable house with lots of room inside and out for everyone to roam and be comfortable. Brought our family here last year and came back again this year. Huge property that the kids love to explore. Huge house with everything you could need. Definitely a retreat, as the house is tucked away from everything.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Denise and John, thank you for another great review. You have hit on the highlights that make The Cottage unique for families who crave adventure and enjoy building great memories together outdoors while having all the amenities of a nice home. Please come back soon and see how different the forest is in Spring, Summer and Fall. You are always welcome!

My family and I recently had the privilege of visiting the Vonore, TN area to assist with and attend the wedding of our oldest daughter. We needed lodging to accommodate approximately 15 guests, and our daughter suggested the Cottage on Hemlock Grove. We looked up the site on the internet, and felt that it would well meet our needs - the main thing we were looking for was a place large enought to accommodate our extended family. Reservations were made, and many emails went back and forth between me and the owners, as they patiently answered my questions leading up to our stay. Nothing could have prepared me for what awaited. The drive alone to Hemlock Grove was breathtaking. Beautiful untouched mountain countryside, and nestled in a valley/grove was the unexpected home called Hemlock Grove. The outside of the house is very nice, excellently maintained, but did not prepare us for what lay inside. The home is absolutely gorgeous - wood floors - updated furnishings and bathrooms - comfortable beds, bedding, towels - a very well proportioned kitchen to meet the needs of cooking for a large group of people if that is something you plan to do. Washer and driver - iron and ironing board, etc. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have slept in away from home. The outdoor living space of the property is breathtaking. Remote, quiet, natural beauty, well-maintained - peaceful - the ultimate definition of serenity. Lots of land for hiking and exploring. The front porch is nice for sitting and reading a book, doing needlework, reading, or napping. The back deck is the same - sitting and relaxing - or cooking out on the gas grill and entertaining and enjoying some peaceful outdoor dining with friends. The hot tub was also wonderful - peaceful and quiet relaxation at the end of our busy days. In addition to the main house, a bunkhouse was also available to accommodate additional guests - with wood-fired heater - a kitchen - bathroom - pool table - Fun!! The kids loved it. All you will need is to fill up the car with gas before you turn off the main highway - fill up the coolers with food and beverages - and be ready for a wonderful, quiet stay. I can imagine a large family choosing to spend Thanksgiving or Christmas at this wonderful location - a fabulous get away for just being together. I highly recommend this getaway, and hope to getaway to it again soon myself.Owner response: Teresa, Thanks for mentioning all of the great features of the Cottage at Hemlock Grove! The type of detail you have provided gives others the confidence that their families will have fun in our remote but well maintained mountain home. We are very pleased that your family enjoyed themselves while visiting. We look forward to seeing you back again soon!

Were do I start? First of all the house was awesome!! Very clean and lots of room and we loved the remote location. Our kids had lots of things to do and never once said they were bored! We enjoyed the hot tub the fires at night. I never knew there was that many stars out at night! Lots of things to do in the area - trails right outside your door; beautiful views. The lakes were great. Our family has been to a few vacation homes over the years and I would have to say this ranks as one of the best we have ever been to!! I recomend this place for someone who just wants to get away from it all! We will be back in the Fall! Thank you Pat and Lee for sharing with us this little piece of heaven!! Love the welcoming music and your gift basket!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We were needing a real getaway where we could enjoy the accommodations of home while being deep in the woods. A wood burning stove, good hiking, activities for the kids and and not being bothered by cell phones were requirements. We found all that and more at the Cottage at Hemlock Grove and we plan to return, next time with more family and friends as the cabin and bunkhouse can comfortably fit a surprising number of people. We had 10 people, ages 4 - 61, and never felt crowded. The house and kitchen are well stocked which is good in case you forgot to bring something from home. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the water pressure (for showers) was excellent. The front and back porches and the hot tub are very nice places to relax, as is the living room by the wood burning stove. Plenty of square footage to keep a large group comfortable but not so big that it doesn't feel cozy. Hiking was really fun as there are many miles of trails and old logging roads that apparently never leave the 300-acre property so you can be somewhat confident that you won't get lost as long as you follow the provided trail maps and have some sense about you. :) Hemlock Grove was a gem and we plan to return!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a large group with everyone from 4 years old to 74 years old and we all had a great time. The kids loved playing in the yard and exploring in the woods. The house had everything we needed. The kitchen was very well equipped. The beds were very comfortable. The entire house was very clean and odor free. We all felt very at home and welcome in the cottage. The entire experience was A+. We would absolutely stay again. AntoinetteRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We arrived at our destination. A lovely white farmhouse sitting in a grove of hemlock and magnolia trees. Rockers on the porch called to us to sit a spell and rest and dream. Early in the day we sat on the back deck in our nightwear and drank our morning coffee from lovely unchipped mugs while listening to the birds. That was the only sound. It was great! The house was full equipped and spotless. As for the trails, they were a dream. We found the old log house and barn and took endless pictures while imagining the people who had built the structures, their hardships and achievements. You see, I am a genealogist and much of my research is bound up in those mountains. We saw deer, and prints on one trail of bobcat and not one bit of litter. Our picnic by the trout pond was so peaceful and the trout showed their approval by performing a water ballet. A ground covering tucked away beneath the trees was something we had never seen before. Rocking on the front porch was a wonderful way to rest up after our hike. The old wild azalea with it's gnarled limbs drew our attention but the vast magnolias and hemlocks yielded up pure peace. At night we crawled between our soft cotton sheets (at least 800 count) and slept and dreamed of never having to leave this marvelous place. I have recommended Hemlock House to several friends but almost want to keep it a deep dark secret just for me.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
