This was such an amazing cabin that went above and beyond my expectations. I have gone to several cabins before and resorts, but this was at the top of all others I have been to with my family and friends. My husband and I with our group of friends in our thirties after decided we needed a little break from the city in Minneapolis. The location of the cabin is perfect on the Cove Bay where it is at one of the most southern points of Mille Lacs Lake because it only took us an hour and a half to get there. The moment we walked in were were in awe of the place. I thought the pictures on this site were great, but in person it doesn't even do it justice. It is a very quaint and comfortable cabin that rain or shine has plenty for you to do!! The owner receives 5 stars in my book as well as he catered to all of our needs, wrote us a friendly note when we first arrived about reminders and things we may need, as well as was available by phone, email, or text if needed. Since we arrived in March the fishing season was really over, but we took advantage of the gorgeous setting of this cabin and direct location on the lake by going snowshoeing and enjoying the great outdoors. We also loved going to the little bar and grill right down the road to eat, drink, and play BINGO with the locals. Loved this cabin's location, clean and well maintained inside, rustic cabin feel, and outside activities on or near the water/ice. Highly recommend to all groups!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family and I had never been fishing on Mille Lacs and have always heard how great the fishing is up there. We wanted to stay at a nice cabin right on the lake and what we got was even better. The owner wrote out a welcoming letter and instructions on how things work in the cabin. It impressed me that this was hand written letter. Now a days most people just type a letter on the computer and print it off. I haven't dealt with a nicer person on this site than this owner. He responds to your emails/text messages very promptly. Sometimes I don't hear for DAYS from some of the cabin owners on this site. He is an excellent communicator, answered every question that I had. The pictures of this cabin on the site are nice, but it is even more breath taking in person. It was the perfect size for my family of 7, it was like our home away from home. After spending the day out in the cold ice fishing it was so nice to come in to the cabin, sit by the fireplace, and drink hot cocoa. Just can't get any better than that! :-) We would love to come back to this cabin again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I spent close to three months looking for a place on/near Mille Lacs lake to rent for a family fishing trip. I had been looking at other websites until I discovered vrbo and found Dave & Amy's place. I emailed Dave on what I believe was a Tuesday morning inquiring about his property and throughout the day we had emailed back and forth several times, Dave was so prompt that I had the cabin booked by Tuesday night. When the weekend came Dave kept in contact with me several times to make sure everything was alright and I didn't have any questions or concerned. The heat was on, there was a lovely note welcoming me, and he had even been so kind to provide extra air mattresses since our party had the full twelve people. I was a little worried it would be tight but it wasn't at all! Both futons were just as comfortable as the beds and no one was complaining about where they slept. This cabin is even more beautiful then the pictures can show. It is open and airy yet homey. I would highly recommend this vacation spot and hope to rent again in the future.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Each year a group of friends and myself put together a fishing trip somewhere in the Midwest. Being from Michigan we enjoy the cold and the pleasures involved with ice fishing. Since Mille Lacs is renowned for its fishing, it was a simple choice. I contacted the property owner via email in regards to renting this property considering how great the photos look. The owner was very prompt in responding and pure and simple the best owner I have ever worked with. When we arrived there was a hand written letter welcoming us to the home and stating that if we have problems to be sure and contact him ASAP. In addition, he went to a local tackle shop and purchased several HOT lures for us as a gift for our patronage. This absolutely floored all of us considering the level of generosity. I asked him if we were responsible for cleaning since he DID NOT CHARGE A CLEANING FEE and his response was something like this "we do not expect our guests to clean the house. We want our guests to simply enjoy their stay". I cannot say one bad thing about the location, home, and property owner. This is a great place and a great owner. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This year for Christmas I gifted my wife of 27 years, a 3 day-2 night stay at this beautiful private home on Mille Lacs Lake. We arrived about 7pm on December 26th. My wife has always wanted to stay at a lodge on the lake. She was thrilled! The home was very well maintained, and exuded a warm, cozy family feeling. We sat by the fireplace in the living room and enjoyed a drink, as we watched a romantic comedy on television. All the conveinances of home were there, tv's, dvd's, modern appliances, beautiful rooms, comfortable furniture, and lovely linens on the beds! The next day we took a drive around the lake and saw first hand the beauty of the area. We cooked dinner at the home and watchd the snowmobilers on the lake. That evening we enjoyed a lovely meal at a local Steak/Seafood Restaurant. The owner of the home was wonderful to work with, he left a hand-written message to greet us when we arrived at the home providing all the information we would need for using the tv's, and other electronic items. He even provided a number that he could be reached at should we have any questions during our stay. We couldn't have wished for a more pleasant experience!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: We live an hours drive west of the lake home and have spent many wonderful summers and winters at our home away from home. We cherish our time together at 'the cabin'.
Why the Owner Chose Bayview:
This property was purchased to be near longtime friends and because we fell in love with the area and all it has to offer. Our children spend countless hours fishing off the dock and the cabin is accessible to so many different places. We enjoy all activities at nearby Izaty's Resort and love that we are so close but have our own home to go back to.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We tore down the original 'fishing shack' in 2003 and built the new log style cabin in 2004. It has been a true labor of love. We are especially proud of our beautiful gas fireplace. We enjoy the peaceful nights at the cabin and love all the activities during the day.
