Close your eyes and imagine...your day begins with a steaming cup of hot coffee in hand as you lean up against a mountain of pillows in bed and watch the waves crash against the shore for as far as your eye can see. Longing to spend the day just like this, you remember that the entire family is gathering in the upper gazebo, to watch the sunrise over the ocean. The sound of many voices speaking at once greets you, as you listen to them excitedly discuss the many options for the day.

And the options are many - day trips to sightsee or shop in Morehead City, Swansboro, New Bern or even Wilmington, a ferry ride to Bear Island for shelling and solitude, a kayak ride in the ocean or among the shallows in Bogue Sound, a pontoon or power boat rental at a nearby marina, a bike ride into town along the bike path that winds through the island.

But with the morning progression, you day dream of watching the sunset over Bogue Sound while relaxing in the outdoor hot tub. The wheels are turning in my wife’s brain, as well, as she ponders a leisurely day under the beach umbrella reading her latest novel while the kids dash in and out of the waves with their boogie boards and build enormous sand castles on the beach.

In selecting Emerald Isle for our beach house, we kissed many toads before finding our Prince Charming. Over eight or ten years we visited resort towns in five states and found the friendliest beach with the best value and atmosphere right here in Emerald Isle. One’s children don't simply visit for a week or two, but they make new friends and form lifetime bonds. We wanted a clean, wide beach with sparkling blue/green ocean water just in reach so our access to the beach is simply a walk out of our front door.

And, would you appreciate having a selection of restaurants with delicious local seafood caught daily? Would you like them to be close by with no long lines to contend with? (Are you already getting the idea that we’re quite picky?) And as any woman will tell you, the wife/mother NEVER goes to the beach to clean house or make beds. Upon arrival you will find the house spotless, the beds will be freshly made with linens we provide and bath towels will be laid out.

We wanted to make sure that we could invite plenty of friends and extended family. Beach houses are for sharing, and our beach house is so big you may lose someone if you’re not careful. Imagine the luxury of having two living rooms, one for the children and one for the adults.

Last but not least, Emerald Isle has all of the trimmings of most beach communities, but doesn’t overwhelm you and it keeps its prices to a manageable scale so there will be a few bills in your wallet to get you home and to start saving for next year!

At this stage it is all about enlightenment.

Like all owners we try to put our best foot forward. To a certain degree we owners tend to embellish. When I use VRBO to find a place for my family I go straight to the 'comments' by past renters. If they don't seem to be that bowled over, then I keep on searching. May I suggest while it is so close and just a click away that you scroll down to 'comments' and click.

Check the online calendar to make sure the dates you want are available before contacting us. We do keep it up to date.

In these challenging financial times making sure you pay the lowest possible rate is imperative. I have done a good bit of research to make sure my rental rates are lower than others. But don’t take my word for it. Do your own research. You find a better rate; I’m going to beat it, assuming it is an apple to apple comparison. Check the rates I have so you know what you are going to have beat to get a lower rate from me. Make sure if you find a lower rate you email me a web link to the other property so that I can see it to make sure it is an apple to an apple.

  • We had a wonderful time at Point Lookout. My family and 2 others, 10 persons total, shared this beautiful house. The views were spectacular, especially from the gazebo, where we spent considerable time! The private pool and hot tub were great. I would highly recommend this property.

  • We had a wonderful time at Point Lookout. The view was phenomenal. Those of us with babies especially enjoyed being able to see the ocean from the 2nd floor and enjoy the gazebo as well. We all loved the pool and hot tub. The kitchen was well equipped as was the pool room. We would stay here again.

  • We all (13 of us) had a wonderful time in this beach house. The house was decorated beautifully, and we all really loved the view from the second story. Debbie has really taken a great deal of time in decorating and seeing that the guests have everything they need. The swimming pool and hot tub were used quite a bit and we appreciated the fact that they are maintained so well. Our daughter wrote in the guest book about our stay, and everyone had a wonderful time. Thank you from all of us.

  • What a wonderful vacation! We've stayed at other homes in the Outer Banks, but none with such a wonderful view and great accomodations. The pool was a big hit with the kids, as was the hot tub for the adults! There was easily enough room for 14 people without tripping over each other. We could not have asked for a more fun, relaxing and memorable vacation home.

  • OK to be perfectly honest, initially I was not sure about this house. As the agent has stated, "It is a leap of faith." Reserving a home based on web pictures vs actually being there can be a world of difference. Well this house is absolutely to die for. The views are just awesome. Words can not do justice. The upstairs area was just unbelievable. A large group can comfortably sit, converse and all enjoy the wonderful sunsets. The views from the kitchen are awesome, I actually enjoyed spending time at the kitchen sink. This home is very well equipped. Debbie and Jim obviously pay attention to every detail. The home is so tastefully decorated, you just feel so HAPPY. We had the opportunity to meet Marie, the housekeeper. What a jewel! Final thanks to Peter, the agent. You are great! You were so willing to work with us regarding our arrival schedule. So Debbie and Jim, you have a great team. Thanks for sharing your spectacular home. I do hope and plan to return.

  • Pointe Lookout was the perfect place to vacation with our 12 family members to celebrate our parents 50th anniversary. The house was more than we had even hoped for... so spacious, immaculate and so attractively decorated. Our teenage kids as well as all the adults thoroughly enjoyed riding the bikes, playing ping pong, swimming in the pool and hanging out in the hot tub... so many nice amenities. The morning sunrises from the gazebo were breathtaking and the ocean was so convenient. This house was the most completely furnished home we've ever rented. The owners and rental agent could not have been more accommodating and pleasant to work with. They even graciously gave up a night of their own vacation in this home so we could have an extra night there! And another example of their hospitality ... prior to our stay, we asked if the grill was large enough to grill 12 steaks on, and they went out and bought a new grill big enough for 12 steaks just days before our stay! They went above and beyond! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful place with us!
