Hale Aukai means 'home of the seafarer' in the Hawaiian Language.
Hale Aukai is a clean, private home in a resort neighborhood. It has a breezy screened lanai where guests can relax and enjoy a cup of tea, coffee, or an umbrella drink.
The property has its own secluded yard with newly-planted banana, papaya, lime, orange, tangelo, and grapefruit trees. Also on our property are mature coconut palms, a lemon tree, and a large, fertile avocado tree.
Our home welcomes you with two standard bedrooms, and two newly-remodeled bathrooms.
Save money by preparing your own meals. Our fully equipped modern kitchen is complete with everything you'll need to prepare great meals, including a rice cooker, tea kettle, high-speed blender, waffle-maker, microwave, a full-sized refrigerator, ceramic cooktop and oven. Enjoy a relaxing Hawaiian morning with fresh brewed coffee made in our deluxe coffee maker. We have a spice rack stocked with 40 different gourmet spices.
There is a private laundry room with a full-size washer and dryer for your use.
Both bathrooms come stocked with plenty of fresh fluffy towels, botanical bath soaps, good lighting, and wall-mounted swivel 8X magnifying mirrors. A blow-dryer is located for your use in the master bath.
Our Tempurpedic-style beds are new and have soft cotton sheets for a restful sleep. Each bed has extra pillows for your comfort.
Listen to our collection of Hawaiian music on the stereo, watch cable television or a DVD movie, or simply play any one of our family board games.
Borrow our beach towels, an ice chest, a beach bag, and the beach chairs we provide, and enjoy the day at any one of the nearby beaches.
At the end of day, kick back and enjoy a glass of wine and pupu platter on our screened lanai.
Hale Aukai is perfect for one or two couples, or a small family.
Infant's portable crib and highchair are available.

We are strictly a non-smoking property, inside and outside. We're sorry but we cannot accept pets of any species.

Very comfortable stay in this updated home, comfy bed, sparkling clean and spacious master bath, beautiful kitchen, nice office space with excellent wireless internet. Loved hearing the morning birdsong from the private backyard. Easy access to nearby beaches and activities, lots of day trip options, No crowds of tourists at the north island made for a relaxed vacation! Highlights included chocolate tour, garden tour, snorkeling, hiking, famer's market, Beaches! Adjacent to Princeville shopping center offering groceries, restaurants and shops. Hope to stay here again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Kelly & Stephen thought of every last detail when they opened their home to guests. The Hale Aukai is a "home away from home". Very welcoming for families and couples and pristine in terms of cleanliness. Wonderful accommodations for travelers both new to the island and for ones that have returned several times. We no longer have to consider anywhere else to stay when we return to Kauai. Thanks so much for a very memorable and comfortable stay! We have been telling all our friends about your home!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

An amazing Holiday home to enjoy for a family of 4. A spacious, comfortable, and very attractive, imaginatively redesigned house. Good size bedrooms, great kitchen, flexible dining areas, relaxing living room, and a peaceful, tropical backyard with a cool BBQ. House is close to convenient shopping needs, and located in a very clean, safe residential neighborhood. Reasonably close to local beaches and other North Shore travel destinations. Good communication from the home owner who has a wonderful sense of aloha spirit. We had a great one week stay in Hale Aukai.Recommended for: Families with teenagers.

The house was perfect. It was clean and well maintained and well stocked. All our needs were met above expectations. The owner was very helpful. What a fantastic place for a winter vacation! My husband, brother, and his wife spent 7 nights in this beautiful place. It was perfect for the four of us, and would be ideal for either 4 adults or a family. Kelly and Stephen have done an amazing job creating a tropical getaway. No detail was spared, and the place is pristine! The kitchen is very well stocked, and the new grill (and provided grill tools) made us feel right at home. They even have a bin full of baby/kid dinner stuff - helpful for those with small children. The tropical decor reminded me constantly that I was on vacation! The photos are exactly as the house appears, and while it is not on the beach it is within walking distance of several nice viewpoints and there's a beach access (Anini beach) within a 10 minute walk. We enjoyed being a little bit out of the crowded areas of Princeville and in a residential neighborhood. We also appreciated being within a quick walk to the shops and restaurants in the Princeville center - including Foodland. Kelly was a perfect host. She helped answer questions and gave some great recs for things to do before our trip. There's also a basket of information in the house about nearby activities and a wealth of Kauai-specific books to explore. As far as general travel tips, we got most of our groceries at Foodland in Ka'paa but did use the Foodland in Princeville too. The Paradise Grill was not our favorite - poor service and mediocre food. We actually ate in alot but did find Hanalei to have some good options. Hanalei Gourmet had nice salads and sandwiches. Village Bakery and Cafe had yummy baked goods. Tahiti Nui had great entertainment (Hawaiian music group on Friday night). My one piece of beach advice would be to go early for parking! Many popular beaches on the north coast fill up their parking early. Overall, I absolutely recommend this home and would stay there again for sure! About the owner: We are Kelly & Stephen. Our family of five had been traveling and renting houses in tropical locations for years before we decided to purchase our own vacation home. We chose the island of Kauai because of the natural beauty and outdoor fun. We enjoy surfing, hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, and fishing. We love our new home and welcome our guests to enjoy it too.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
We enjoy Princeville's proximity to the outdoor recreation the North Shore of Kauai offers us. There are enough shops and restaurants on the North Shore to find what we need, but not enough to feel overcrowded.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We chose to purchase this particular home because we enjoyed the serene setting and the privacy it offered. We especially enjoy the time we spend in our breezy, screened lanai.
