My family of three stayed here 3 nights in March 2013. The property is exactly as pictured, but actually feels much larger, especially the main living room level. The ceiling there is very high and the windows looking out over the backyard area are huge. Very modern, comfortable furnishings with spotless bathrooms and kitchen. Every amenity we needed was there. The owner was extremely helpful, providing a notebook full of maps and recommendations for restaurants and local attractions. She made our arrangements for transport from and back to the airport. She even contacted us on the last day to remind us of the daylight savings time change (which we were clueless about, as the dates are different from the USA). As my 2nd trip to Amsterdam, I knew exactly where to stay, and this location is perfect for tourists. The apartment is on the edge of the Nine Streets shopping district. The Anne Frank House is about 10 minutes away. Virtually every major tourist attraction is within a 20 to 30 minute walk, and walking the city itself is one the best highlights of any trip to Amsterdam. The location is a residential neighborhood, much quieter and cleaner than the city Centrum area and closer to many attractions than the Jordaan area . But less than a block away: shops, cafes, restaurants are right there. Ideal. It is on the Herengracht Canal. While there is no view of the canal from the apartment, the private backyard garden (yours to use) is much more practical and as beautiful in its own way. The bottom line is that this is a memorable place to stay in a perfect location. For less than the price of 2 rooms at a mid-level Amsterdam hotel, your family can stay here instead. Recommended whole-heartedly.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1989
About the owner: I've loved Amsterdam ever since I moved there 30 years ago, and look forward to welcome you and help you make the best of your stay. I have travelled a lot and know what makes a homestay worthwhile. As my children (21 and 19) have left home to study, I now have the opportunity to offer my apartment for rent. I work for an ICT Multinational and study Arts & Culture. I like contemporary art of which you will find a lot in the apartment. And I cannot live without books so you will be surrounded by plenty of those too.
Why the Owner Chose Amsterdam:
Check http://bit.ly/YPahhm for reviews and additional photo's
Once you see the apartment you'll understand why I still love it since we bought it 23 years ago! It has the best of both worlds: whilst in the middle of Amsterdam the place is very tranquil. The loft style apartment has lots of space; ceilings reach 6 meters. You'll find quiet, space and plenty of green in the garden. The popular nine streets area is around the corner. You can walk (or bike) to all the major attractions in the city. And as you step out of the historic front door you'll smile when you see the beautiful Herengracht canal.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
I fell for this home because of the space, the height of the ceilings, the vide with it's overcrossing 'bridge', the huge windows and the garden!
