Our Lake House is located on the southeastern corner of Mullett Lake on Pigeon Bay approximately 1 mile east across the lake from the mouth of the Indian River. The sunset views and quiet neighborhood on our dead-end street make for a relaxing place to stay on your vacation.
The house is a single story ranch with three bedrooms, two baths, a full laundry room, a well equipped kitchen and a “Northern Michigan style” sun porch. The open Great Room with a vaulted ceiling and hand crafted stone fireplace provides space for relaxing and eating meals. A large table with seating for 8-10 is set up to enjoy meals (or to play cards and board games) while viewing the lake. For outdoor dining on the patio, several tables and chairs are provided. The full kitchen has plenty of counter space. A breakfast bar with seating separates the kitchen from the great room. A large window that looks onto the lake provides a great view while you’re in the kitchen.
The cottage has three bedrooms. The lakeside bedroom has a queen size four poster bed. The center bedroom has two full size beds and the street side bedroom has a queen size bed and a twin bed. The fireplace has gas logs and can be started with a turn of the knob on cool evenings.
The cottage is situated on a lot with 120 feet of lake frontage. The lakeside yard is grassy, flat and ends at a seawall. There are plenty of trees to enjoy shade when needed but there are also spots to set up lounge chairs for sun bathing during the day as well. A fire pit is available lakeside to enjoy in the evening. (Firewood is not supplied.) An 82 foot dock extends into the lake and has a ladder for climbing into and out of the water. A new Rock seawall will be installed in Spring 2015 with stone steps leading from the yard into the lake. At the seawall the water is approximately 20 inches deep, At the end of the dock the water is a little more than 3 feet deep. The water is relatively shallow – approximately 5 feet deep for over a hundred yards out into the lake before dropping off. The lake bottom is mostly soft sand, however “water shoes” are recommended as there may be stones and driftwood on the bottom.
We have a 3600 pound “ShoreStation ” boat lift available for your use during the summer months (with advance notice) suitable for up to 21 foot Outboard and stern drive speedboats. (If you are interested please send details of your boat (Make, Length, Weight, Motor etc.), to verify if you can use the Shore station, as it is not suitable for Mid Engine boats and could cause damage to the propeller shaft of a Mid Engine Boat.)
The water in the house is supplied by an Artesian well. Back in the day, the waters of Mullett Lake were thought to be conducive to good health. No bad hair days due to hard iron water like that of some of the other lake towns.
