- Minimum stay:Contact owner

- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Convenient to 'The Villages', our five and one half acre estate called 'Hidden Oaks' has two houses--a main House and the 'Cottage'. The 'Cottage' is a fully furnished, air-conditioned, 700 sq ft. ranch located on an Old Florida setting in Fruitland Park, Fl. Get the best of both worlds, enjoy the hustle and bustle of The Villages nearby, and then retreat to the peace and quiet of a country cottage, nestled amongst giant oaks in a parklike setting.
This home has just been totally remodeled and updated, from the all new bathroom to a completely 'state of the art' kitchen. The 'Cottage' sports all new windows, a new washer and dryer, new 22 cu. ft refrigerator/freezer with ice maker, and a built-in microwave, dishwasher, and stove. It is all newly painted and decorated and just the perfect size for one or two people.
Summertime--and the Living is Easy! For you vacationers that would like to visit Florida in the summertime, when the temperatures have risen, that is the perfect time to visit 'Hidden Oaks' and enjoy the 'Cottage.' It is usually 10 to 15 degrees cooler in the shade of our huge Oak trees, and there is just about always a cool breeze that blows right by the 'Cottage.' It makes the perfect summertime retreat. The Main House is also available for rent--see our Listing #373208, also on VRBO under Lady Lake, if you are looking for more space.
The 'Cottage' has a view of Spring Lake from all rooms at the rear of the house, including two large picture windows--one in the Dining Area and the other in the Living Room. The 'Cottage' is light and bright and has 11 windows. It is completely tiled throughout, with area rugs. There is a large kitchen/dining area, a living room, a bedroom with a queen size bed, a bathroom with a walk-in shower and vanity sink, and a Utility/Laundry room with a large closet, washer/dryer, and plenty of storage shelves. A large carport is on the rear of the cottage and goes the entire length, therefore, providing space enough for a bricked patio with Gas grill and plenty of room to sit and room to park a vehicle.
The dining area has a wooden drop-leafed table with 4 chairs, and a rolling, movable island. The cabinets are maple with pull-out drawers, a lazy susan, cookie sheet cupboard, plenty of drawers, double sink, and granite counter tops. The kitchen is fully stocked with Corelle dishes, toaster, mixer, slow cooker, Forman grill, and a Mr. Coffee, and all kinds of cooking utensils, gadgets, and glassware and wine goblets.
The living room has a 72-in Flexsteel couch, a leather Lazy-Boy recliner, floor lamp, table lamp, and a 32-in new Flat screen Hi-Def TV with Dish Satellite as the provider.
The bedroom is small, but comfy with a queen size bed and a new Serta Perfect Sleeper mattress and box spring set, a bedside table w/lamp and a chest of drawers on which sits a new LG 24-in flat screen TV for your viewing pleasure. It is cozy, with room to walk on each side of bed.
The bathroom has a vanity sink, mirrored-medicine cabinet, commode, and a walk-in shower. It also has a window looking to the front of the property.
The 'Cottage' has doorbells, outside lighting, a utility tub and two closets. We have provided everything imaginable to make this cottage a 'haven' for one or two people.
There is a small pond lined with Cypress trees where many species of birds choose to frequent. There are Sandhill Crane that come to visit, along with Ibis, Egrets, Cardinals, etc. Bring your binoculars for up-close views and your camera for some stunning photos. You will see many squirrels hopping from tree to tree, along with tree ducks that come to roost in the huge oaks. It is a writer's and painter's paradise. The birds are singing with joy amongst this peaceful setting. There is a bench out back by the Oak tree where one can meditate.
The landscape around both houses sports Roses, Hisb iscus, Camelias, Ligustrum, Azaleas, Lilly of the Nile, and many other beautiful bushes and plants, to name just a few. Many varieties of Citrus trees such as Tangerine, Orange, Lemon, Lime, Orange, and Grapefruit, along with Loquats, Apple, Peach, Pecan and Fig have been planted by the owner for the viewer's pleasure and enhancement of the property. What a treat for the senses when these are in bloom!
The rear of the 'Cottage' faces to the East, so the sunrises are spectacular. The soft breezes will caress you as you recline in a chair with a Mimosa and reminisce about days gone by, or perhaps, take a stroll.
'The Cottage' at Hidden Oaks is located just ten minutes from all three town squares of 'The Villages' and all it's amenities. There is shopping galore at stores such as: Sam's Club, Beall's, Belk's, Publix, Best Buy, Kohl's, Home Depot, Lowes, Target, Walmart, Staples, Michaels, Kirkland's, T.J. Maxx, to name just a few.

If you are looking for a quiet, meditative place, this is it! Its nestled in the woods, yet minutes away from the malls, Leesburg and The Villages. The newly remodeled, extremely clean cottage is cozy, yet it has a large very efficient kitchen that any energetic cook would love. Its equipped with new and high end appliances and equipment / gadgets. Its perfect for two people.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind words. We feel our place offers the perfect location, also. We work hard to keep the cottage clean, attractive, and up to date for guests, so from the moment they walk through the door, they immediately know that no expense or effort has been spared to make the cottage inviting. It is close to everything, but yet far enough away to get away from it all.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two month stay at The Cottage. Everything was pristine and perfect. All of the appliances were new and up to date. The heating and cooling system was automatic and worked perfectly to keep us very comfortable. When we first moved in, we thought is was quite small (700 square feet) but when we got settled in and comfortable with all the amenities, it did not seem small at all. The view of the lake from the large picture windows was beautiful and restful. The peace and quiet could not be better. We would not hesitate to stay again at this beauiful spot. We think the owners did an excellent job of restoring and perfecting the house and grounds to make this a great spot to spend a vacation.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Dear Russell, Clyde and I are pleased you were so happy with your stay at "The Cottage", and your nice comments. We try our very best to make the place inviting, comfortable, and with all the amenties we would want to have. It is a pleasure having guests, such as yourself and Norma, that appreciate the time, work, and effort that we put into our "home away from home". We often stay there for a weekend, and feel it is the perfect retreat from our Village's lifestyle. Thank you for taking such good care of our "cottage", and we welcome your return.

About the owner: My husband and I are retired and live in The Villages. He was a professional gardnener and took it up as a hobby when moving to Florida. He loves the outdoors, and while we have a large lot for The Villages, we missed having property where we were not confined. We moved here from Chardon, Ohio (the snowbelt) and love Florida. We are workaholics, and 'Hidden Oaks' was quite a challenge for us.
Why the Owner Chose Lady Lake:
It was unique, beautiful, completely secluded and like a vacation home--completely the opposite of The Villages, we go from one world to the other in only ten minutes. My husband loves the woods, and this gives us a taste of both.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Close to everything, but yet away from everything. Nature at it's finest. The perfect getaway place--peaceful and serene.
