An escape to the finest of Maine's legendary coastal beauty and tranquility.
Fish Hawk & Big Tree Beach are located on the Island of Islesboro, Maine, the northernmost of the inhabited Penobscot Island chain that includes Vinalhaven and North Haven immediately to the south. Big Tree Beach lies just north of the 'Narrows' that separate Dark Harbor and Pripet on Seal Harbor. Accessible via the 'Margaret Chase Smith, a 27 - 30 car Ferry operates hourly from 7:30 until 5:00 from Lincolnville Beach on the mainland to the ferry terminal at the northern mouth of Gilky Harbor, by private boat or small plane. Lincolnville Beach, Camden, Rockport and Belfast are within easy reach.
The house sits on a 5+ acre peninsula, designed to take maximum advantage of its 270 degree waterfront exposure. All but the bathrooms have direct waterfront views. There are 3+ bedrooms with sleeping accommodations for up to 8 people. Two of the bedrooms are connected forming a suite. Window seats at the bedroom level make wonderful napping locations.
The house is fully winterized with central heat and 2 fireplaces, one in the 'den' and the second in the master bedroom. The Master bedroom has its own private bathroom. A second bath with shower is located at the living level off the den and a half bath is located at the top of the stairs.
The kitchen is fully equipped with late model appliances, cookware, dishes and silverware etc. A Weber grille is located on the Sunrise deck just outside the kitchen. A washer/dryer lies just beyond the kitchen. Basic Direct TV service and utilities are included. The 32' flat screen TVs is located in the den. A walk out rec room with convertable futon bed lies downstairs.
Decks surround the house, especially on the water side. Sheets, towels and most housekeeping necessities are provided.

About: Fish Hawk was designed and built by Ronald Wood (owner), a Harvard Design School Graduate/Professor. It has been a labor of love from inception through completion. In 1986 Ron bought 38 acres on Seal Harbor with almost 1/2 mile of shoreline frontage including the best Beach on the Island (Big Tree Beach) and precious little private beaches on each of the 5 waterfront lots subsequently created.
Lot 4C, 122 Big Tree Lane, has 5+ private acres - the best of the 5 lots created at Big Tree Beach with over 450' of private frontage and 270 degrees of water views over Seal Harbor and Penobscot Bay. Orientation is SSW affording beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
