Wonderful weeks, thank-you all for you help Martin, Peter & Sheena. Last year we had three weeks in the one bedroom apartment and returned this year for a four week holiday two weeks with family and the remaining two on our own in the two bedroom apartment. Apartments are located on the beach front, with privacy if you required it. We have been coming to Barbados since 2002, and stopped in various apartments , and we have found your apartments to be the most accommodating and friendly that we have used. Thanks for the golf. We will returning next year and look forward to enjoying your company again. Love Kim & Brian x

Owner response: Thank you Kim and Brian for your review and kind words. As always it is a delight to know our guests have enjoyed their holiday with us and we are always grateful for the time and effort taken to write and tell us. Thank you for mentioning the Golf. It is helpful to other guests to know that we can arrange a golf package with The Barbados Golf Club. We are looking forward to your return next year. With grateful thanks from Martin, Peter and Sheena

a superb, well equpped apartment which was ideally positined between oistins [10 minutes walk] and st. lawrence gap [5 minutes bus ride on zr buses for only 2 barbadian dollars - about 70p!]. peter was a most helpful and knowledgeable host who was unobtrusive yet always available. he also possesses an excellent sense of humour!. the bedrooms were extremely spacious with king side beds and the air conditioniing was most welcome. the kitchen was also well equpped and functional. by far and away the best aspect of the apartment was the superb view from the large veranda onto the caribbian sea which we enjoyed on every occasion, especially more enjoyable with mount gay rum and coke!. we have already recommended this apartment [front sea apartment with 2 bedrooms] to our friends and we hope to return here ourselves in the not too distant future.

Owner response: Your review and kind comments are greatly appreciated. We are pleased that you enjoyed your holiday and look forward to welcoming you back.

What can we say about Maxwell Beach Apartments except 'Perfect' in every way. We are actually leaving tomorrow and we are so sorry to be going. The apartments are private, exceptionally clean, well equipped, safe and secure. The apartments have their own driveway and parking. The back garden.... well…. its a perfect private extension of the beach. Walk through the small gate directly onto the beach and into the crystal clear and warm ocean. It doesn't get much better than this. Barbados is a joy in it's own right, so laid back, friendly and full of polite and happy people. The small ZR busses are better than any transport system we have ever found, simply step outside the driveway wait around 30 secs, you will hear a musical horn and the bus pulls up right along side you. It may be a bit of a squeeze at peak hours.... but a total experience. Between Bridgetown and Oistins any length of trip is $2 Barbadian Dollars. A bargain!! (however if you are a slightly nervous passenger and don’t like loud Reggae music, you might be best on the BarbadianTransport yellow buses). There are some shops inc a supermarket in Oistins, which is a pleasurable 15 minute walk away. It was a surreal experience carrying our shopping back along white sandy beaches and the sea lapping at our feet. We are here in mid September and it is so very quiet, perfect for us as we wanted total peace and quiet. As most previous comments have said, Peter & Sheena were perfect hosts and were always on hand whenever we needed anything at all. All in all a perfect destination for us in perfect surroundings. Our thanks to Peter, Sheena and Martin for a truly memorable holiday.

We stayed in the upstairs studio apartment - very simple but it had everything we needed (clean, working air conditioning and fan, all kitchen equipment needed for self catering). We love bbq's, so most mornings we walked to the local fish markets to buy marlin / flying fish / tuna steaks to cook in the evening. Peter kindly located and cleaned his small bbq for us to use from the first day. The supermarket is reasonable and a 10 minute walk away. It is very close to Oistins and Dover Beaches. Peter was very helpful - we wanted to learn to surf so he put us in touch with someone who did private lessons and they were fantastic - never mind the turtles popping out of the water while we waited for waves! My favourite part was not feeling like we were part of the hotel package type deals and meals and being able to just do our own thing. Will definitely be returning, hopefully to the sea front apartment - must have amazing views!

Owner response: Hello Candice, As I have said many times before our first priority is that our guests have enjoyed their holiday and I am very grateful that you have taken the time and effort to write this review and let us know that you have. Your comments about the fish market and surfing experience is particularly helpful to those that may follow you. Yes the turtles are amazing, I'm so pleased that you saw them. People that appreciate the Bajan culture and fit in to the swing of things as you have done, will always get the most out of their holiday. If you have an opportunity of visiting us again you will be most welcome. With grateful thanks from Martin, Peter and Sheena.

What can I say except we had the most wonderful stay at the Maxwell Beach Apts. Right from our original enquiry through to our booking Martin answered every question we had quickly and efficiently. We stayed in a ground floor studio, and they are exactly what they say on the tin! Budget priced s/c studios in the most amazing location. They are well run by Peter and Sheena ( who by the way are really nice people!) and are clean with ample cooking facilities, wonderful huge comfy bed and a bathroom. The detail on this website is so accurate that when we arrived we felt familiar with the place already. The location is superb right on the beach, walking distance to the supermarket, next to a hotel where you can get a drink, lunch etc and right by the bus stop where you can get the bus easily and very cheaply. Barbados is a country definitely worth visiting. We love the place, the food, the people, culture and lifestlye and these apts afford us the opportunity to come here. If big resort facilities and amenities and grand hotels aren't for you and you prefer a more independant type of holiday, then give these studios a try.You will certainly get a much better flavour of local life. If we are ever fortunate enough to come again, we wouldn't hesitate in staying here or recommending it to anyone else.Thank you Peter and Sheena for sharing a little piece of your paradise with us!

Owner response: Dear Guests, Thank you so very much for such glowing report of your stay and for finding the time to write it. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your holiday, and that you found the apartment as described on the website. I would urge all potential guests to follow your example and read the information we provide. Similarly, I'm sure your helpful comments and precis of your holiday experience will be invaluable to all those that follow. Welcome back anytime. With grateful thanks, Martin, Peter and Sheena

Maxwell Beach Apartments are located in an ideal location. Peter and Sheena were excellent hosts are are truly lovely people - we were honoured to attend their wedding during our vacation. Lovely Maria kept the apartments spotless and nothing was too much trouble. Butterfly hotel next door to apartments which was handy if you didn't want to cook you could pop in for lunch or dinner .Deborah who runs the shop inside the Butterfly is very helpful and likes a good laugh . Bus stop right outside the apartments where you can catch a reggae bus to any part of the island or if you wished to walk into The Gap it was only a 15 minute walk or again if you wished to visit the famous Fish dishes you could walk into Oistins, again a 15 minute walk. We are hoping to return again in June for another beautiful vacation in Paradise and obviously stay at Maxwell Beach Apartments. Susan & James Edinburgh

Owner response: Dear Susan and James, Thank you so much for your positive comments and useful tips for those who may follow. We are often asked if it is possible to walk to St Lawrence Gap and your experience of this is particularly helpful. It is always very rewarding to know that our guests have enjoyed their stay with us, and have an understanding and empathy of the Caribbean way of life. We will all be extremely happy if you are able to return in June. With grateful thanks from us all, Martin, Peter and Sheena

Where do I begin ? Went to Barbados for a friend's wedding with my son and mother-in-law in tow. Everything was wonderful from the word go. When we arrived at the apartment, Sheena was there to meet us and we quickly settled in. The heat was something but with air-conditioning, we soon adjusted. If you think the pictures are beautiful, wait till you get there ! BREATHTAKING ! Sheena was lovely and did everything, I mean EVERYTHING my mother-in-law asked for and she misses you, Sheena. My son and I, too ! The apartment was spacious and airy and CLEAN ! It was very clean indeed that I felt I was home. Getting around was easy peasy - mum said I was one of the locals after one day ! :-) The beach was beautiful, the secured fenced area was perfect for my son to play in the sand. His favourite was watching the small crabs outside our patio. Getting supplies was also easy, walked to Oistin to the supermarket, only took us less than 10 minutes. We practically went to Bridgetown everyday, too - getting our mango supplies and Oistin fish fry on Fridays and Saturdays is a definite must ! The lady at the souvenir shop next door was lovely too. If you buy loads, you might get a discount but please don't quote me on that :-) The holiday we had staying with you is one of the most memorable holiday we've ever had and I can't wait to go back ! Next time will definitely swap the mother-in-law with my husband ! Lol. My son still remembers your nephew, Sheena and I will never forget the day mum asked you for a Soca CD ! Lol For a relaxing, chill out holiday, do stay here because everything was lovely. Couldn't fault it at all ! My only regret was not meeting Peter as he was away and had the best lamb chop at Cave Shepherd on our very last day ! Wished had gone there sooner. Sheena, one last request from my mother-in-law. Any chance you can get the recipe for the lamb chop at Cave Shepherd ? Lol Thank you for everything :-)

Owner response: Thank you so much for your positive comments and useful tips for those that will follow. As always it is so rewarding to know that you and your family enjoyed your holiday with us. We are very grateful to you for taking the time to tell us. I pleased you found the local transport easy and fun, I really don't think hiring a car is necessary. Thank you also for mentioning that the area was safe for your son to play. I'll see what I can do about the lamp chop recipe. We all hope that you will be able to visit us again. With grateful thanks from us all. Martin, Peter and Sheena

We stayed in the studio at the end of June 2011 for almost 2 weeks and I must say we had the greatest experience at this property. From the beginning, Martin was very prompt in responding to my emails and very professional when we were in the process of booking our stay. We arrived to the apartment after being picked up from the airport by Leroy (prearranged) .He was already waiting for us when we got to the airport and was very professional and eventually took us around the island during our stay. Thanks Leroy! The apartment was exactly as described. It was meticulously clean as were the grounds. We loved the fact that we had our own fenced off beach area that led down to the beach. Beautiful turquoise waters just steps away. The apartment had everything we needed- dishes, cutlery, microwave etc. The patio had burgler bars on it which was just fine with us as it is a great safety feature. We have to thank Sheena for her hospitality and always making sure we were ok and taken care of. When we first arrived, our freezer was not working and she gave us her fridge while our fridge was to be repaired. SHe also let us use her phone on occasion as well as give us tips on places to see and which bus to take. SHe was always around if we needed anything but at the same time respected our privacy. We would definitely return to this property .We felt safe here..It is a great property for couples or even a family if you get the 2 bdrm. You don't need a car. We loved the fact that you could catch the local bus or a ZR bus right outside the property to take us to the Gap (5mins away) or to Bridgetown. It is a short walk to Oistins and the supermarket, gym ,bank etc. It is in the best location, close to everything and has the best stretch of beach in my opinion after travelling all over the island. We have to thank Martin,Sheena and Rusty (he was teaching windsurfing and also doing work around the property). We will be back! Pearl and Sean f

Kudos to Mount Gay Rum! And although we didn’t do traditional tourist stuff we had a blast! We stayed in the 2nd floor condo and even though we did not have the spectacular view as seen in we still had a decent view of the beach from our balcony. The thunderous yet blissful waves helped for the best sleep we had in a while. Three things to note: 1) the condo is has a newly installed A/C which can make the room pretty cold(not that anyone should complain with high humidity and 90 degree temps[Fahrenheit]). We only had sheets and no blanket (not sure if all the rooms only had sheets) and that made it pretty cold at times; we finally used the fan to circulate the air which made it a better. Had we been in the condo more it might have been an issue but we were mostly out. 2) If you are from the U.S. and want to catch a basketball or football game that might be on TNT/ESPN you might have to go to a bar. ESPN/TNT were channels that were carried in our room but they were hybrid international channels and U.S. events might be hit or miss depending on other international sporting events. Luckily we did get to see the World Champion Dallas Mavericks play twice. 3) Since the condo is not fitted with a landline phone Peter/Sheena were nice enough to let us use their phone anytime we asked. It was really helpful especially when transportation services were picking us up. Several properties nearby all go by the combination of Maxwell "Beach/Condo/House/Hotel" and even for is confusing to locals. A major plus is the free Wi-Fi. While there we used public transit; the island’s not very big so taxi's are really only needed unless you are in a rush or don’t want to wait. Barbados has normal transit and mini-buses that are all $2 Barbados. Also we spoke with a few cab drivers and from Maxwell Beach they'd take you to the airport for $30(plus tip) Barbados. For things to do researching the island forehand is good or simply asking Peter/Sheena. I also recommend the hotel next door as Deborah in the Gift Shop is very helpful; they also have a 2 for 1 happy hour. There’s also a bar right across the street and the bartender gave good advice as well. If all else fails just talk to people because they are eager to give advice as to what to do and where to go. No matter if you are walking around in downtown Bridgetown, various beaches or at any restaurant or bar people are willing to share what they know. As seasoned Caribbean travelers we recommend to all.

Owner response: Hi Forest, Thank you for your review and recommendation, we are all pleased you enjoyed your holiday. I wished you had mentioned that you were cold as Peter or Sheena could have shown you how to re-set the thermostat. Although a first for us, I also wish you had asked for a blanket if you had needed one. Regarding the taxi’s, it is true that some would drive you to the airport for $30 BBD, but they have not been waiting at the airport for incoming flights, sometimes for more than two hours, and many are not licensed. Best wishes, Martin

My boyfriend and had a great time staying at Maxwell apartments and we can't wait to return. It is a gem, with beautiful sunsets, stunning beaches and wonderful people! Peter and Sheena are lovely hosts ( we had lovely fresh fish on a Sunday grill, so professionally made by combined efforts of both ). The location is just wonderful with Oistins and St. Lawrence gap so close only few minutes away. Would recommend the place with all my heart, and hope to return very soon!

We visited Maxwell Beach apartments from April 16 to 30/2011. This was our first trip to Barbados ..what a wonderful two weeks!!! We stayed in the one bedroom studio in Apt 4 on the 2nd floor. The apartment was basic with a small kitchen, stove, microwave, cooking utensils and a fridge. There is also a small patio that you can sit out on to eat breakfest or enjoy a drink. The one thing that I have to say about this property although the one bedrooms are not luxury, they are VERY CLEAN! If it you want an accomodation that is safe, affordable and right on a fantastic stretch of beach and walking distance to town for groceries, restaurants, pharmacy,etc...this is the place! One thing that we did learn the last few days of our two week stay is that if you keep the front door and patio door open it creates a cool breeze. The only downfall BUT it did not ruin our vacation at all was the air conditioning unit was not large enough to cool the apartment due to the A frame ceiling. Your hosts Peter and Sheena are very caring, wonderful people that will do anything that you ask of them. We would like to thank them for their warm hospitality during our two week stay...you guys keep up the great work and you will have many returning guests in the future! Michele and Norm

Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Owner response: Hello Michele and Norman, Thank you so much for your kind words and comments including those regarding the A/C. We are much relieved that it did not spoil your holiday. Despite being assured by the fitter (for the second time) that the unit could cope with the high ceiling this clearly is not the case. We are in the process, following your experience, contacting another company to have a new A/C unit installed. This should be completed within the next week. We are grateful for the constructive manner in which you brought this to our attention. We do hope that we will have the pleasure of your company again sometime in the future. With kind regards from us all, Martin, Peter and Sheena.

First I want to say how sorry we are for writting so late. Second, we loved it. Absolutely loved it! We can't say enough about you Martin. You were fabulous in helping with the reservations and all the problems we seemed to have in making them. Martin, we thank you so much. Third, Sheena and Peter. What can we say. Peter must be a reflection of you Martin. They were awesome. There help was invaluable. Four days into our vacation, my husband (as it turned out) had a kidney stone. Sheena and Peter, thank you so for your caring and concern and also your help in directing us to the Queens Hospital. If anyone needs to go to the emergency room in Barbados it's a long waite as all emergency rooms are, but the care could not have been better. We were so impressed with all the nurses and hospital staff. Peter and Sheena took care of all our needs and the studio was immaculate. The people are great. The area is great. We did a lot a walking around to ge to know the area. There are plenty of beautiful beaches even the one right outside our door. Loved it, loved it, loved it. Highly recommended.

Owner response: Dear Lori and William, Thank you so much for your comments and kind words. As always, being our prime objective, we are delighted that you enjoyed your holiday. We are grateful for your appreciation of the staff at Queens Hospital and the Bajan people in general. I agree that it can add so much to a vacation when we can feel part of the local community and accept and enjoy the cultural differences. We hope that you may be able to visit us again and look forward to welcoming you back. With kindest regards, Martin, Peter and Sheena.

My boyfriend and I stayed here in March 2011. We stayed on the first floor in the one bedroom apartment. The bed was super comfy, the place was really clean, and it had a little kitchenette to cook some meals which was very convenient. After seeing other parts of the south coast, we were happy we stayed at maxwell where it's not so touristy and crowded with people. The apartments are walking distance to oistins and my boyfriend and I even walked to St. Lawrence gap, although we are New Yorkers so we are used to walking a lot. The fenced off area in front of the apartments is great, because for the most part it keeps people from bugging you. Peter was very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in Holetown at the end of our trip and we wished we hadn't left Maxwell! If we come back to barbados, we will be staying at Maxwell beach apartments!

We had a fantastic time in Barbados staying at the Maxwell Beach Apartments! Peter and Sheena are so accomodating and great company. The location is superb, being on one of the most beautiful beaches in Barbados (we rented a car and drove to numerous beaches and still found Maxwell the one we liked the best). It's also located close to Oistins (a definite MUST for good eats at a great price!), the supermarket (10 min walk) and The Gap is a short bus ride away! You should definitely experience taking the mini-buses, they were hillarious, they drive by, honk their musical horn and pick you up on the side of the road. For $1.50 Barbados you can get pretty much anywhere you like! I can't wait to return to Barbados and stay at the Maxwell Beach Apartments, it's really a gem! Thanks again to Peter, Sheena and Martin for making our Girls Trip come to fruition! Wishing you all the best and see you again in the near future!

My husband and I spent 1 week at Maxwell Beach Apartments and found our large room, kitchen, bathroom, internet and balcony was our perfect romantic getaway. We were picked up by a taxi driver and were greeted by a very cheerful couple. The apartment had everything we needed and Peter and Sheena were ready to provide anything we needed. (Even sugar and salt we forgot on our grocery trip in walking distance) They made reservations for us and laughed and joked with us daily and even after returning a little tipsy and had a sense of humor when my husband knocked on their door late at night. We loved our ocean view and our daily meals on our balcony with a few friendly birds. The beach was perfect and breath taking. Sheena and Peter and family made us a great meal and entertained us at a small bar they have set up on the property. We are looking forward to returning to the property some day soon. I highly recommend this perfect little property for anyone looking for a romantic getaway. Thanks again Martin, Peter and Sheena for all your help in making our trip memorable.

we recently have been on holidays to maxwell beach appartments and we'd have to say that it was very nicely organized, clean and run by good people. The location is perfect and with the beach right in front of your door you can't go wrong. Probably the best part is that all the local hotspots aren't far away, oistins for example can be walked to. The owners were always available, they always responded and they helped with renting a car and they also gave us some nice pointers about where to go to. Overall a good score and definitely one of the best places to stay if you're not looking for an all-in hotel. Best regards, Erwin & Ingeborg

Stayed at Maxwell beach late August 2010. Apartment was perfect, clean, cool (air con wise!) and 20 yards from the beach. On main bus route so easy to get around the whole island ... jump on a ZR bus with the locals for 50p ($1) for any trip ... great fun! The beach infront of the apartments was lovely, small but quiet and ideal for relaxing with gentle slope into the turquoize waters and not too much surf! Peter and Sheena were great hosts, helpful and good fun, happy to advise and keen to ensure our stay was great. It was!! Location was great ... 10-15 mins walk to Oistins (great fish), short bus trip to St Lawrence. Golf nearby and plenty of other great beaches. To do: Crane beach was fab, but go left at the big rocks not right and the beach is much quieter with some great coves Go on a catamaran trip - we did Stilleto, swimming with turtles, snorkelling etc Good restaurants - Tides (Holetown), Champers (Rockley) Golf at Barbados Golf Club Oistins fish fry on a Friday (fabulous Snapper!) We would definitely return and we would stay again at Maxwell Beach - we'll also be recommending the accommodation and Barbados to anyone else who fancies the Carribbean! Thank you Peter and Sheena! We went to Barbados for the first time this summer in august 2010 and stayed in Maxwell beach apartments. Barbados most definitely has some of the most beautiful beaches we've ever seen and we were lucky enough to be located very close to one of these. The accommodation at Maxwell beach was really nice, we were very satisfied with the room size and its spaciousness, it was very clean which is a priority for us where ever we stay. There was a large balcony with a side view of the sea with table and chairs if you wish to have breakfast outside. Sheena and Peter were also very accommodating, providing us with useful information about the island and a friendly atmosphere. I would certainly say this place is great value for money as the room is lovely and considering the mini buses run regularly outside the apartment, everything is very easy to reach including the local supermarket and Oistens which are a 10min walk away. This place is highly recommended and we would definitely stay here again in the future. Robert & Selma

As an older, single female, traveling abroad for the first time, you might say I was more than apprehensive about where to stay. The prospects of staying at a house versus a well populated resort were daunting, but when I saw the pictures of Maxwell House, I fell in love and decided to at least investigate the possibility. From start to finish, my entire experience was beyond perfection. Martin graciously answered my million pre-booking questions with the patience of a saint. He assured me that they could arrange for someone to meet me at the airport, and once I met Leroy, my taxi driver, all of my fears vanished. Leroy was delightful and filled the trip to Maxwell House with tips on the local scene. Upon arrival at Maxwell House, he introduced me to Sheena and Peter and my wonderful adventure was underway. Maxwell House is a lovely building, nestled on a large lot, well removed from the main street, and setting close to the beach. My room was clean, spacious, well appointed, and extremely comfortable. The unit was nicely equipped for cooking in and a lovely patio with an ocean view provided a perfect place for dining. The kitchen area was small but adequate. The bed was oh so comfy. The storage space was ample. The bathroom was roomy. Perfect! The hospitality was Texas Style . . . as in GRAND! Everything, and I do mean everything, was exactly as advertised. Peter and Sheena assisted me in settling in and provided quite useful tips on what to do and see. I'm a Texan and NEVER walk further than from my front door to my car - but I actually walked both to and from the grocery store to provision for my stay. Folks, who know me, would count that as amazing! I had a grand time negotiating the isles, brands, and pricing in a foreign store. The grounds were well maintained. Both the upper and lower level beaches were secluded, un-crowded, and tranquil and the ocean provided a perfect place to play. The surf was ideal for just stepping in without any fears of being swept away. A lending library of books in my room provided some great reads during my stay. Yes, there was a TV, but grabbing a book and lying on the beach are more my scene. I will definitely return to Maxwell House again next August. It provided the perfect stress reduction I needed to face another crazy work year in the states. If you get there, before I do, give Peter and Sheena a hug from me! Just wait and see . . . they will rock your world!

My wife and I stayed at Maxwell Beach Apartments from July 7th through July 14th. It is exactly what we wanted and expected. The beach was literally steps away from our Apartment and it felt like we were in a private oasis. The crashing waves, crystal clear water, and beautiful sand was great. There was a huge coral reef 10 feet from the coastline and I personally saw hundreds of species of fish. I personally watched a puffer fish, and a snake eel. It was like I was in my own personal aquarium. The best snorkeling I have ever done. Oisten's Fish Market is a ten minute walk. What a place! Outstanding fish. My wife still talks about the Tuna steak she ate at Pat's saying it was the best she has ever eaten. Sheena was an outstanding host, the accommodations were exactly what we expected. Since we are from Denver Colorado and we have little or no humidity here, it did take us a little while to adjust to the humid conditions of Barbados. The only thing that I would suggest is a little larger air conditioner in the apartment. (We are whips when it comes to humidity). Rusty was a great resource for information and amenities. We asked Rusty about a jet ski and within ten minutes we were riding a jet ski in the Caribbean Sea. Bajan's are some of the friendliest people you are ever going to meet. We loved the bus rides to and from different locations on the island. Getting around was easy and there is a bus stop right in front of the apartment. One of the very best vacations that I have ever been on! It was relaxing, beautiful, peaceful, just an all around great experience. Thanks again Sheena and Rusty for such an enjoyable experience it was one that we will never forget! Mike and Kim

Visited June 2010. Execellent location, truly a stones throw away from the beach. Apartment very clean and comfortable. Sheena is pleasant and helpful but not intrusive. Would recommend to couples and small families. Quite, relaxing, however very close to nightlife and shopping. Good introduction to any visit to Barbados. Laundry facilities not included in price, inclusion would be beneficial for families with small children. Maid service included with complimentary tea and coffee on arrival, nice touch after a long journey. As a seasoned traveller to Barbados would recommend.

Me and my boyfriend are both 35. When we booked our holiday we were really careful going through all the properties available on internet. We chose Maxwell beach apartments because it looked like a relaxing and easy going place. After a few minutes of our arrival at the apartments we realized that the place was exceeding our expectations in beauty and location. Sheena the landlady was there to welcome us on our arrival. She was extremely helpful and easy going. In a couple of hours she arranged a car rental for us and gave us all the informations we needed in order to start exploring the island. The apartments are reasonably sized and fully equipped with all the conveniences, beds are very comfortable, shower space is big. There is air conditioning too but we preferred not to use it because the doors and terrace are secured with gates and that allowed us to leave doors and balcony open 24 hours a day to enjoy the constant sea breeze. Falling asleep and waking up with the sounds of the waves and crickets made us feel more connected to the local gorgeous nature. Despite giving a very much desired sense of isolation and relaxation, the apartments are literally a few minutes walk from all the conveniences like supermarkets, cash points and Oistins fish market, and a few minutes drive to St Lawrence gap where all the clubs and restaurants are. Barbados is a wonderful island and deserves a visit all around its coasts. Harrison's caves, the North Point, Bathsheba are breathtakingly beautiful not to mention the gorgeous and extremely helpful people all around the island. Sheena was a wonderful landlady, unfortunately we haven 't met her partner Peter, who was away on a business trip, but Rusty was there helping her out . One day he cooked a delicious local dish for us and was very friendly and helpful. It will not be long until we go back to see them. They made sure our holiday went smooth and we will never finish to thank them!!!! See u soon guys!!!! Love, DANI & MARK :)

We stayed at Maxwell Beach Apt for 5 days. This is a great location to everything if you don't have a car. Supermarket a short walk away and Oistins Fish fry also just down the road, very relaxing listening to the sound of the waves hitting the shore. Beach is beautiful. The room was very clean and a comfortable bed. Grounds are also very well taken care of. Recommend this apt to singles/couples/families. Peter and Sheena were very helpful. Thanks again

when we booked we didn't know how it could be but, belive us, it is great!! it's located in the best part of Barbados, halfway form the carabbean coast, wich is wonderful but a little bit to much touristic, and the atlantic one, beatiful to visit but non confortable or swimming. Not far from the apartment you find Oistins, nice and happy place to eat good grilled fish and bajun cooking, and the Lawrence Gap were you can live at night with music, drinks and (why not) wonderful hamburges Barbados way. BUT THE MOST DELIGHTFUL THING ARE THE OWNERS: YOUNG, FRIENDLY AND HELPFULL. The place is calm and relaxing but if you want you easly find amusements, We reccomend it, and may be we'll meet there,

Owner response: How rewarding to recieve a review that captures the very essence of what we are trying to achieve. We were looking for a "bolthole" for a few days before going to work on a ship, and the Maxwell Beach appartments fitted the bill ideally. A good blend of informality with unobtrusive helpfulness and warm hospitality. It was our first visit to the Barbados, and we left there entranced. Peter and Sheena advised us as to how to get around, and later helped us to hire a car for a day, Our suggestion of a "welcome pack" of tea/coffee, cereals, milk was recieved positively. The local buses were fun and easy to use. Foul Bay (what a misnomer) is a wonderful place if you hire a car. It was a perfect break in idyllic setting, with lovely people, and we hope to return early next year.

Just spent a relaxing four weeks staying at the Maxwell Beach Apartments. I have been traveling for just under 12 months and my stay was the highlight of the trip so far. Peter and Sheena were very accommodating and as a solo traveler it was great to enjoy meals with them and the other guests. They also invited me to other events such at the Reggae On The Hill concert. Just missed out on going to the cricket. Also helped with organising a hire car and even a haircut! The location is perfect with the beach just metres away. Right on the bus route and only a ten minute walk to the supermarket and fish market for all my supplies. Absolutely no hesitations in recommending this property to other people for short or long stays. Both Peter and Sheena appear to enjoy having guests around which is a pleasant change from some of the other places I have stayed. Thanks again.

Stayed two weeks from March 19th - April 2nd and couldn't of been happier with the location, Peter and Sheena, the view, the food, etc... The house is elevated from the ocean with a private beach for suntanning, bbqs, crab hunting, and simply relaxing. There is a also a bar being built that will open shortly. Peter has decided to call it "Crabbies". Too easy to get up in the morning and go for a nice swim in the ocean to shake of the night's sleep (or lack thereof). Not many places offer the view either, with the ocean rolling in front of you. Peter and Sheena were absolutely amazing hosts. They both support a spotless policy of daily sweeping supported by raking the leaves. Peter accompanied us on many an adventure. Deep sea fishing, and a few others. Sheena ensured that we knew where to go, and when, and even gave us some guidance as to what to do when we got there. Between them and their friends, they threw great bbqs with formidable food. 5 minute walk from the IGA supermarket, gym, randoms shops, and Surfer's Cafe. 7 minute walk from Oistins Fish Market 10 minute van ride to the Gap 15-20 minute van ride to Bridgetown Strongly recommended, great rates, simply amazing!

Walking distance to a large shop, restaurants and bank with 24 hour cashpoint banks brewery tour and Harrison's caves worth a visit we visited a shooting range(Kendal sporting they have a website) and enjoyed target shooting with hand guns which is still legal on Barbados the range was at a up market country club with a excellent restaurant on site driving standards on island are good locals are courteous and friendly in and out of cars recommended accommodation and destination Barbados was best place we have visited on holiday yet

Maxwell Apartment is more than what we expected. The apartment is ideally located between Oistins and St. Lawrence Gap. Our spacious apartment was clean with a comfortable king size bed and had a balcony with a fantastic view of the sea. We had our breakfast on the balcony every morning and hearing the sound of the wave waking up in the morning is pretty relaxing. The apartment has a small but very functional kitchen. There are plenty of beaches around but with the property being right on the beach you don’t have to go far and who could ask for more. It’s an easy walking distance to Oistins where you can get all your necessities and a bank is around the corner. Oistins is famous for its weekend fish fry which was a very enjoyable experience. Getting around the island is very convenient with public transportation. St Lawrence Gap which has various types of restaurants is approximately 5 minutes away. One of our favourite places is Pisces. The service was excellent and the food was fabulous! What made our stay at Maxwell Apartments truly exceptional were our hosts, Peter and Sheena, who made sure we were settled in comfortably. They welcomed us, just like they've known us for a while and this has made us feel very comfortable. They were very helpful and accommodating. They’ve made arrangements to have us picked up at the airport when we landed and take us back when it was (sadly) our time to go back. We highly recommend this place to anyone. You can’t go wrong with this place! We are already planning our next vacation and looking forward to staying there again for another truly enjoyable and relaxing time.

Maxwell Beach Apartments in Barbados is a perfect destination for sun, relaxation, water sports, friendly people, great food and for the night life. Maxwell Beach Apartments was everything I dreamed it was. I stayed at Maxwell Beach Apartments for 1 month and I could not ask for more hospitable people as in Peter and Shenna. They made my stay in Barbados safe, fun and exciting. They took great care of me. The apartments are right on the beach, which Peter keeps manicure on a regular basis. Shenna, keeps the apartments very clean and well equipped with the basic amenities and will take care of all your needs and wants. The destination is perfect for walking to Oistins and the St. Lawrence Gap. Buses run on a regular basis therefore getting to Bridgetown or beaches is very easy to do. Maxwell Beach Apartments is the place to experience going to sleep and waking up to the sound of the waves. What A Dream ! Thank you, Peter and Sheena

We stayed here at maxwell beach for three weeks during February 2010. We made a late booking and although we knew the area we didnot know where exactly we were staying and what to expect on arrival. When making the booking the owners were extremely helpful and it was obvious they wanted our holiday to be as good as it could possibly be. This was no different on arrival where we were warmly greeted by Peter and Sheena. Their hospitality continued throughout our stay and as Sheena is local they were able to give great advise on the best places to go. Our room although basic was very clean and comfortable, there was a large (very) comfortable bed, small well equiped kitchenette and a reasonable sized bathroom. It was light and spacious, with patio doors onto a small balcony this led staight out onto the sandy garden overlooking the beach. In the mornings it was lovely to wake to bright sunshine and the sound of the surf we would saunter out with our breakfast, tea and coffee laze on one of the sunbeds and contemplate the day ahead. The location of this property is ideal it is in walking distance of Oistins where you can buy everything you might need and the bank. It also has the fish market where you can buy great fish daily or if you dont want to cook has lots of little fish bars. There are also some great beaches in walking distance, like "Miami" our favourite. If you dont want to walk, and you dont hire a car the bus stops just outside. If you like your nightlife St Lawrence Gap is only five minutes by bus or car. If you are a foody try "Champers" Restaurant which Peter reccommended to us it was exellent and if you want something a bit more casual the Surfers Bar on the way to Oistins does a great burger. I would reccommend this property to anyone who is looking for any easy laid back beachside holiday, if you are fussy about a bit of sand this isnt the one for you. Thankyou Peter and Sheena for being great hosts and thanks for the great Bar-B-Q. We wish you every success. Adam and Lizzy
