Envision yourself driving through a private neighborhood within the Fig Garden area, and once you arrive at your destination, you are greeted by two rustic garden gates that leads to a private front courtyard with a pavered, landscaped pathway to The Garden House. Whether you are on a weekly business trip, seeing family or planning a vacation around the fantastic 3 National Parks or lake regions near Fresno, The Garden House is a perfect place for you to relax and spend private time. The Garden House is a large (approximately 800 square feet), cozy studio apartment decorated in a beach motiff, which includes: bedroom/sitting area with king size bed, full bath & shower, fully equipped kithcen (stove/oven, microwave, full size refrigerator & complete set of cooking utensils). The family room area is fully equipted with 47' large screen HDTV, BluRay player and new sleeper sofa with oversized chair. The Garden House is detached from the main house to provide complete privacy, and includes the use of one of the enclosed garage spaces.
Looking out through the two large windows to the rear yard, you will see a canopy of mature trees and lawn area bordering.
Oh by the way, if you have a pooch, we are dog friendly.
Also, do not forget for your security of both your auto and personal items, The Garden House comes with the use of one bay in the garage with automatic door.

We LOVED staying here. After long days visiting family, it was nice to have this relaxing oasis to come back to. It was spacious and clean, with tons of natural light. Our family of four was very comfortable and the outdoor patio was a perfect place to relax and spend an afternoon. Deni was lovely and gracious and their amazing, HUGE mastiff was one of the highlights of our visit. We hope to stay here again!Recommended for: Families with young children.

My husband, Fresno State bound son and I stayed in this very comfortable little gem of a place this last weekend. It was such a pleasure meeting Deni and she was so sweet and helpful. The Garden House was clean and nicely furnished and after spending the day at Fresno State taking in all the information, we looked forward to just relaxing, putting our feet up and watching the nice big tv. All 3 of us were very comfortable the whole time. We travel to Fresno several times a year to visit family, and for years, when not staying with friends, we've lamented our alternatives. Then suddenly, this little place pops up, and we jumped on the opportunity with high hopes. Our hopes were exceeded! Firstly, working with Larry was easy from the very beginning. He's kind, funny, and was extremely helpful and responsive even from a distance. We were met personally at the house by his associate, and given a brief tour of the place. The studio apartment is a large, detached unit, connected to a full garage. It faces the main house and the garden/backyard. The inside of the studio was spotless, very nicely and thoughtfully decorated and both because its size and high ceilings, has a very open, spacious feel - room to breathe! It has absolutely everything you need, with a full kitchenette, dining table, and large entertainment system. Being on the larger property, with a lovely backyard, in a neighborhood.... well it made all the difference. We'll absolutely be back!Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

This property is a secret little gem in Fresno. Staying in a hotel with all the pros/cons, make this place a "no brainer" The most comfortable bed you can imagine, lots of fabulous pillows, great layout and a huge TV, in the middle, to make "getting ready" to leave, a joy. So many sitting area options plus a great dining table, allows flexibility. Gorgeous grounds and even better, GREAT OWNERS. This will be our "go-to" place for the area, HANDS DOWN. The whole experience was great. Process to rent was easy, owners are super friendly and helpful. The studio is spacious, spotless and our family of 4 fit nicely. We visit relatives in Fresno and usually stay in a hotel near the airport. This was SO MUCH better. We'd recommend it to anyone needing a place to stay in Fresno and we'll certainly rent again when we return to Fresno. Don't hesitate to rent this VRBO.Owner response: Thanks for the kind review. About the owner: Larry & Deni Schmidt, are your hosts, who were originally born and raised in Fresno, but left Fresno approximately 18 years ago. The pull of our family and especially the grand kids has brought us back to Fresno. So we are back!!! Both Deni and Larry have extensive experience in Vacation Rental By Owner based on their hometown of Prescott, Arizona, where they have 5 VRBO rental units. The key to success when renting a VRBO property is first and foremost the property/product that you are marketing must be outstanding and hopefully unique. The second key is to provide customer experience and satisfaction that exceeds the customers expectation...in other words superior customer service. Cliff May was renowned and revered as the originator of The Califronia Mid-Century Modern Ranch Style Home. Our home and The Garden House were designed and built in 1962, when Cliff May was in his prime, and all of Cliff May's famous interior & exterior treatments are found in both the home and The Garden House. Cliff May's central theme is to bring the outdoors inside the home, so his designs always incorporate a variety of large windows that properly take advantage of the views of the landscape and surroundings of the home.

The Garden House is not only cozy, but very private. When you stay at a major brand hotel, you are staying in my opinion, at a very sterile and commercial environment. When you stay at The Garden House, you can relax like you are at your home, but without all of the constant distractions. So imagine getting out of your car and entering the large two gates into the private front courtyard, which is surrounded with a canopy of tall mature trees, making your way to your private getaway, The Garden House.
