  • Handicapped Accessible (may have limitations): The lower floor has access from the driveway, without stairs, and includes three bedrooms, four bathrooms, tv viewing area and a kitchenette with table and four chairs. The pool is accessible from this floor as well. The main kitchen and living room are located upstairs and there is no handicapped or wheelchair accessibility to the upper level.
  • Kid Friendly: This house is designed with children in mind. There are children's videos and games on site and pool toys as well. Small toddlers will need to be watched because the inside stairs are steep and not blocked off. Also there are no child protection locks on any of the cabinets. There is an outside shower by the driveway to wash off the sand from your day at the beach.

  • Beautiful Makaha Valley Golf Resort borders this property and is a few minutes up the road (prices are very reasonable), Famous Scuba Spot is only 5 minutes away, Ko Olina is 20 minutes away with beautiful wedding facilities, resorts, restaurants and Luaus, Kapolei is the next exit after Ko Olina and there you will find Hawaiian Waters Theme Park, Large Cinema, great restaurants, K-Mart, Home Depot and other shops. There are two grocery stores within 5 minutes of the home, Long's Drugs, gas stations, fast food, Subway and other simple restaurants are all near the home. A nice restaurant, with full bar, is located at the Golf Resort up the hill. The property has a basketball hoop on the driveway. There is ample room to park four cars at the top of the driveway.

  • Honk, honk, sirens, traffic....that's how the vacation started down in Waikiki. A few days later, the house in Makaha was ready for the whole family. We had twelve adults and one toddler that thoroughly enjoyed our week in Makaha. Everyone enjoyed a little something different about the house. The beautiful scenery, the sounds of rural Oahu, the uncrowded beaches and, of course, the pool. Everyone agreed the house was so spacious it didnt even feel crowded with thirteen of us around the place. Thanks again for opening your home to us for a memorable graduation and anniversary celebration in Oahu. We highly recommend this home to families looking for a place to settle in and relax in Paradise!

  • Twelve of us had a great holiday adventure(Christmas and New Years 2007/08) at the house. It was perfect for the large group and the beauty of the surroundings was much more than expected. We would highly recommend this place to a group of any size. You have plenty of room for all and areas for privacy when you need it. Much better than trying to rent enough hotel rooms for this many people.

We didn't even think about the beach with that great pool in the back and that beautiful 360 view of the Makaha mountains.We will return again to Makaha Valley,forget Waikiki it doesn't compare.   • We had three other couples join us for a family vacation at this lovely home. We enjoyed the wrap around deck and relaxing, enjoying the cool tradewinds. The pool was fabulous and the home spacious. Great for a vacation away from it all. It's a drive to Waikiki, about an hour & limited parking. The Ko Olina beach was gorgeous and we seen sea turtles when we snorkeled there! Uncrowded beach as well. Thanks again for allowing us to share your home & create memories Cynthia! Aloha & Mahalo!

  • Aloha e Cynthia, I know that you will be traveling to Hawaii in the next few days, but I just wanted to thank you for allowing my halau and I to stay at your beautiful home. It was very peaceful and suited ALL our needs. You could tell just from being in the home that you had taken the time to ensure that your home was indeed just that, a home. I?ve been in many hotels, vacation rentals, etc. and did not feel as safe and comfortable as I did in your "Hale Ikuone". My brother, who is a journeymen carpenter and is a partner in his own construction company, walked comlpetely around your home and kept saying, this is how a house should be made to accomodate a family. He is also a father of three girls, so he knows how precious space is! Yesterday morning when he woke up he said that he thought he was at home until he realized that his bedroom does not have a patio door:~) My students were very relaxed and appreciative after 2-hour long workshop sessions in the sun to have a cool and refreshing pool to swim in. We also took pictures that we will send to Merrie Monarch for the program and I will be sure to send you a copy as well! But perhaps the most inviting feature for me was to be able to see the mountains in Makaha valley and ocean in front at sunset. The first day I arrived just before sunset and the upstairs living room and kitchen were filled with a warm glow and behind the mountain as I opened the main door, there was a light curtain of rain moving and a splash of irredescent rainbow colors shinning through. Breath-taking!! Mahalo, mahalo, mahalo for sharing your home and yourself with all who walk through those doors!

  • Dear Cynthia, Your beautiful residence is the best-kept secret on Oahu. As a local resident, my family had some trepidation associated with the reputation of the Makaha Coastline when I shared the plan to stay in Makaha; however we soon realized our fears were unwarranted. We had the BEST family weekend together - it was quiet, safe, no traffic noise, unforgettable sunsets, but most importantly, the home was large enough that our family could spend quality time together without feeling restrained.   • A beautiful house with a beautiful view of the mountains and the sunset/sunrise over the ocean. Plenty of room for our party of 8 and very beautifully furnished. The Polynesian cultural center's luau had so so food but a beautiful show. Hike up to diamondhead crater - you won't be disappointed. The calm beach 4 blocks away was the best we found for our 17 months old. Reggie's shaved ice that Cynthia recommended was good but the one we found in chinatown was surprisingly more refreshing. Go for the ahi tuna and the pineapples at the grocery stores - the best deal around! All in all - a good time was had by all. MAHALO!
