Boat was in good condition, not top of the line, but clean and in good condition for the age of the boat. The area is excellent for sailing with several scenic towns and marinas within a days sail. Had a great week and will charter this again if the opportunity presents its self.

Owner response: Glen and Patti. The boat came back cleaner than when it went out. Thank you for making my day.
Two thumbs up! The Zia was very clean upon arrival. Captain Rhett was a real gentleman. Not having a great deal of experience bareboat chartering on my own, it was great to have the relatively sheltered waters of Lake Charlevoix to get used to the Zia before heading out on Lake Michigan. We did have the mainsail rip at the end of the first day's sail, but Captain Rhett made repairs that evening....so we literally didn't lose an hour of sailing time....and Captain Rhett stated that the mainsail that ripped was being replaced at the end of the season. It was overall just a very, very positive experience, and I look forward to returning and sailing more in the beautiful area.

Owner response: Jim & Pam. It was a pleasure to have you aboard. Hope to see you again in Charlevoix the Beautiful.
We spent a day aboard ZIA with Captain Rhett and had a blast! Not only is the boat a pleasure to sail on and well kept, but the sailing experience on Lake Charlevoix is a treat. The added benefit is that there is direct access to Lake Michigan, and we had a brief excursion to the great lake and a swim before it was all too soon to head back. We are already booked again for this year.

We were blown away with the surprise sail we had last Summer! This boat was new to his fleet. We were pleasantly surprised with the entire trip. The water in Michigan was absolutely as clear as the Caribbean. The boat was extremely smooth with every wind on her sails. The boat was well maintained and everything we were told and then some.Captain Lloyd took his time, was polite and courteous and very thorough in getting us familiar with the boat. There are many destinations easy to explore and not one was a dissappointment. We will be back next year!

I and my friends were lucky enough to rent this boat for a day trip in August. We found it very easy to handle, comfortable and a smooth sailer. This boat is plenty big enough to handle anything on Lake Michigan and do it in style and comfort!

About the owner: I grew up on Lake Charlevoix. My father taught me to sail as soon as I could swim. I worked on Mackinac Island in the summer while going to college and lived on a sailboat in the harbor. I have sailed all through the Greats Lakes in addition to the Erie Canal, East Coast, Caribbean, and South Pacific. I hold a Coast Guard 50 ton Masters(Captains) license. My son is presently serving with the coast guard in the Persian Gulf aboard a 110' cutter.
Why the Owner Chose Charlevoix:
The best way to enjoy the Great Lakes and northern Michigan is by boat. Especially a sailboat with the only noise being the wind and the waves.
The Unique Benefits at this Boat:
While everyone is sighting in traffic on the hot pavement, you are sailing over cool clear water with no one honking at you. On the water not only do we not yell or honk at other boats, we wave and smile. Truly a different world.
