Camp Awesome was exactly that "Awesome". We have stayed here 3 times and will definitely be back. We look forward to it every year. The location is perfect and the house is incredible. The house is located in the heart of Lake Placid right on Mirror Lake within walking distance of the Olympic Oval, Olympic Ice Arena, Shopping and Restaurants. You can not beat the location for convenience and having all the amenities of home. I would recommend Camp Awesome to everyone and I will most definitely be returning.

We stayed at Camp Awesome for the 2014 Pond Hockey Tournament. Five adult siblings and spouses each had our own rooms. We had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the winter views of the lake from all the windows in one of two large living/dining rooms. Non skaters enjoyed cross country skiing, toboggan rides and dog sled rides, again, right out the back door on the lake. The kitchen is well stocked. Plenty of towels. The beds are comfy. Plenty of linens and pillows, games. We utilized the sauna to warm up and ease achy muscles. All the fun and charm of Lake Placid is at your fingertips. Walk to restaurants and shopping. We had room to park three cars and left a fourth in the municipal lot across the street for a nominal fee. I gave 4 out of 5 stars because we had some water issues during our stay which were responded to promptly by the realtor and owner. Camp Awesome is truly that. Awesome!

Camp Awesome Lake house!
Camp Awesome Lake house!
We stayed at Camp Awesome for a total of 4 nights. We had a blast! The house was within walking distance to downtown Lake Placid, so there was a ton to do. The house itself was beautiful. The kayaks were a favorite of ours! The place was clean and well kept and the owners left a nice card and bottle of wine as a thank you, which was such a pleasant surprise! We look forward to using this house again :)

We had an amazing stay in Lake Placid and this home was fantastic. Its location is a dream - actually right in town but away from the noise and crowds - and right on Mirror Lake, just ideal! The house has plenty of room and is super comfortable and, better yet, you never feel like you're on top of each other. The "in law" suite is wonderful. My mom stayed in there and couldn't have been happier. You can absolutely tell the owners love this home and take care of it! We would definitely go back to this house again!

The house had plenty of space for all 6 adults and 7 kids. The dock and kayaks are terrific and the location can't be beat. We were able to walk to town and the public beach plus we could easily access the areas tourist sights. We felt like we were in the heart of the town but we also had privacy. And the views were beautiful! We had a wonderful vacation and would highly recommend this house and Lake Placid.

Our group enjoyed 4 great nights here in mid-July. My wife and I have 15 month old twins and our great family friends have 2 young children and were accompanied by a niece/superb babysitter. The layout of the house is a little different but it actually worked out well since we always had napping babies throughout the day. The house is on Mirror Lake in center of town and has a bunch of kayaks and a row boat. We tried to experience as much as we could of the great historic Olympic town while there. Our family friend is a pro-ironman so he was in heaven swimming, running and biking the course every day and was basically a celebrity everywhere we went. He was drooling over the thought of renting this house during IMLP...200 yards from start/finish of swim. But likely not available or extremely expensive. We also took a gondola up Whiteface Mountain, went to the public beach, went on the bobsled run, did a boat tour of Lake Placid and hit as many restaurants and bars as we could. We kayaked, swam and did plenty of laps around Mirror Lake with strollers. We totally lucked out with the weather, it was perfect! Not too hot but sunny with a nice breeze and the lake was refreshing but not too cold. We missed a number of great activities but hard to do it all with little ones. Would have liked to have watched some of the ski jump training stuff at the pool and maybe even make it to the top of the jumps but we'll have to do it next time. We ate at the following places: The Cottage: Had dinner first night. Great view of Mirror Lake. Caribbean Cowboy: Had lunch. Try the Painkiller! Freestyle: Stopped for drink then had dinner. New. Hilarious young bartender with great visions making olde tyme drinks. Roomers: Late night drinks and action. Lake Placid Pub & Brewery: Lunch. Kids play room on top floor! Whiteface Lodge: Had drinks. Take a tour, place is awesome! Simply Gourmet Big Mountain Deli & Crêperie: Got lunch here for beach day. Love a creative sandwich board! Lake Placid Lodge: Final night special dinner. Awesome and incredible views, but pad your wallet. All were excellent! The bartender at Freestyle told us there are about 73 restaurants in Lake Placid. We also did pizza at the house one night after a long day. Apparently Rusted Root performed in a small park on Main Street the night before we arrived. Also Lolo Jones was in town while we there but we never saw her. Always tons of action! Good luck!

About: We have been coming to Lake Placid for years and owned a condo just outside of town. Last year the perfect house became available and we jumped at the chance to buy a house in town on the lake. We love outdoor activities and think Lake Placid offers the best opportunity on the East Coast to enjoy it year round. In summer Lake Placid offers hiking, swimming, kayaking, golf, cycling and just about anything else you can think of. The fall brings leaf season with brilliant colors. Winter has all the winter activities you can imagine. We come to Lake Placid every chance we get and the opportunity to get away from hustle and bustle and enjoy the Adirondacks as a family is one we are lucky to have.
Why Lake Placid:
The location is perfect. We like to swim and fish and can do so right off the dock. The house is on Mirror Lake right in downtown Lake Placid and while quiet and private it is only steps from all the restaurants and shopping. The home provides all the opportunity to be as active or relaxed as you want if you just enjoy the lake and the view.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The view and the location are most unique. From inside the living room or on the large deck you can enjoy the view of Mirror Lake and views of Whiteface Mountain. You can start your day with coffee and the sunrise and finish with a glass of wine on the dock.
