Our cottage is not fancy or huge. It's cozy, clean and right on Lake Nantahala, one of the highest and cleanest lakes in the Eastern U.S. We bought the cottage years ago as a perfect escape from the busyness of Atlanta. Now we want to share it with you.
We have no pool tables or hot tubs or wii's. We DO have a great private dock, books, videos, and a place to simply unwind without all the usual distractions of home. Swim from our private dock. (Bring your snorkle gear ... i usually see fish when I snorkle around our dock ... the water is crystal clear) Bring your boat (ramp is 2 minutes away) or rent one from Lakes End Marina (or use our canoe). Kids love our dock, the many streams to wade in, and places to hike and explore (we're practically surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest). Parents love the quiet setting, our collection of books and movies, and the fact that your cell phone won't work up here! There are great restaurants 20 minutes by car (or ride your boat across the water to Lake's End Grill), a Super Walmart in Murphy (35 minutes away) for supplies, hiking trails all around (the Appalachian Trail is 20 minutes away), whitewater rafting close by, and lots of places to wander. We are not Disney World. We are quite pleased to be "all natural".

My family had an outstanding week at Grace Cottage. We spent many hours swimming and jumping off the dock. The water was incredibly clean (and not weedy!) My daughter also caught a pretty big fish off the dock. The cottage had beautiful views of the mountains, was clean, well maintained, and very comfortable. We also enjoyed playing games, reading, and watching movies. The weather was so much better than the heat wave at home. We took a short hike to see a waterfall, and explored the Wayah Bald fire tower. Both activities were not a far drive away. There was much more to do in the area, but we were too busy relaxing. The owner was very conscientious. We felt really welcome. We would love to return and would recommend this destination to anyone.

From the moment we pulled up in the driveway and stepped through the front door, a warm fuzzy feeling came over us, the cottage was exactly as it is portrayed online and more. We felt surrounded by comforts of home, Plus the peace and quiet of the countryside around it. We kept the birdfeeders filled and had frequent visitors. The frogs sang at night and the the cool breezes allowed us to open our windows and enjoy the fresh air. The lift to the dock is wonderful and the water was so clear , very nice to swim in! Hubby even caught some fish! This is the first time a landlord has been so "hands on". He left us a nice bottle of wine and called to make sure everything was good for us. We spent a week of pure heaven. We would highly recommend it to others!

"We have enjoyed three days of peace and refreshment at the aptly named Grace Cottage. It has seemed as close to heaven as our imagination could have produced. We both enjoyed the books, movies, lake swims, hikes, canoe rides, etc. as much as 3 days would allow! May all who follow after us enjoy this special place as much! God bless y'all!
