****$1,500.00 a week from Memorial Day weekend through June 22*** And $!,800.00 in September*** Give your family the unforgettable gift of a summer holiday by the sea. This is ideal for one or two families to share. You are 1/2 mile from Easton's beach and less than 2 miles from Second Beach--both of them, gorgeous sandy beaches with some of the best body surfing on the Atlantic coast. Newport's famous Cliff Walk is 1 mile from your door. Your summer home is only 3 miles from the Vanderbilt's legendary summer home: 'The Breakers' and the other mansions on Bellevue Avenue that are open to the public. Take a family bike hike from your home and all the way around Ocean drive, stopping to picnic at Brenton Point. Your summer place is located on a quiet cul de sac in a family neighborhood with off-street parking for two - four cars. You enter into a roomy and inviting open floor plan with a fully equipped kitchen and a living room that will accommodate family sprawl with room for a playpen. Both sofa's open to double beds. And the built-in book cases are filled with games and books to while away the long evenings. There is a charming enclosed sleep porch as well and this opens out onto a deck and fenced in garden for cookouts on the grill. And as the sun goes down turn on the fairy lights for a more intimate glow. There is also a private outdoor shower. Imagine showering by starlight. The spacious Master Bedroom and adjacent Bedroom share a deck with a water view and magnificent sunsets. You can also see the fireworks on the fourth of July! There are three upstairs bedrooms as well as a large bathroom with washer, dryer, shower and bath. Directly behind the property is an elementary school with playground and two baseball diamonds and you can see your children at play from your hammock on the upstairs deck! You're only 3 miles from Newport's famous yachting waterfront and one of the most historic places in New England with so many of it's colonial homes beautifully restored. 'Amistad', 'Wind', 'Evening' and Wes Anderson's latest film, 'Moonrise Kingdom' were all filmed here. So, when you do decide to make this your holiday home, be sure to catch a tour at Rough Point, The home of Doris Duke or the Samuel Whitehorn House and ask for Mary Jane. She's my mom and the best tour guide in Newport! Oh, and don't forget your frisbee!
But, if that isn't enough to keep you occupied, there are also two 32 inch flat screen TV's with cable and Netflix, and broadband for your computer. Caed Mille Failte! And here's a link for the folk and jazz festivals http://www.newportfolkfest.net/2013-dates-of-newport-folk-and-jazz-festivals. We also just installed a stand-by generator which worked like a charm during the Blizzard of 2013 when Newport lost power for 24 hours. It is fully automated and kicks in 2 minutes after the power goes. And for those of you with Toddlers. We have baby gates at both ends of the stairs and two portable gates for you to use in other door frames.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: My mother moved here in 1990 -- fulfilling her life-long dream to live by the sea. It was one she had shared with my father; but, he died 10 years earlier. After one visit to my mother's historic house in The Point Section of Newport, I fell in love with the area and moved here a year later. And what a friendly and welcoming community it is. There are Pineapples all over Newport as a sign of welcome and hospitality and the only other place I've ever experienced such hospitality is Ireland--the land of a thousand welcomes. My husband, Sean and I met at Sachuest, which is a wildlife Sanctuary just past Second Beach and after a season of walking together he asked me to marry him. He's a lobster fisherman from Ireland and I grew up in the Berkshires of Massachusetts; so, we were both already acquainted with some of the most beautiful scenery on earth; but, Newport is the best of both worlds and was an ideal place to raise our family. My childhood was rural, but peopled and largely unsupervised and I wanted to be able to offer my family that same kind of freedom and safety. When we started to renovate the house for summer rentals, I began to think of how lovely it would be to provide a place that would become the setting for someone else's cherished family summer holidays. When I was a child, we stayed on Martha's Vineyard in home down the bluff from my Aunt. We rented it; but, it felt like it was 'our summer home'. I can still see the shells set into the glass and rattan coffee table on the sleep porch and hear the distant lapping of the waves from the sound at the end of the bluff.
