Stevensville estate description
A truly unique and beautiful estate on the southwest tip of Kent Island, in the middle of Chesapeake Bay. Available as a vacation rental for the first time in the summer of 2013, the reviews by guests are worth reading. Amenities include 600 feet of private shoreline on two sides, with a large sandy beach. Wrap around Bay views go to the southern horizon, and for miles from east through northwest. A six story light house is less than a mile offshore, directly in front of the house.
The Point of It All was designed as a private resort for family and friends, with something for everyone. There are sweeping views of the Bay from all main rooms, and full Bay views from 4 bedrooms and the guest apartment/game room.
Watch the ships go by or the kids in the pool from the 1st floor deck, two screen porches on the first floor, four balconies on the 2nd floor, or a chaise lounge by the pool. Stroll through large shade trees and wide expanses of lawn overlooking the Bay.
Enjoy the beach, pool, water slide, heated spa with jets, basketball court, and dock. Read, tan and relax above the waves on three comfortable benches on the dock, or on chaise lounges by the pool, or on the beach. Two stone jetties attract fish year round, so fishing is an easy cast from shore. Catch your own crabs from the dock.
During summer the prevailing breeze is from the south or southwest, sending cooler air from the Bay toward the house. The Bay side of the house faces southwest, toward the light house and ship channel, taking full advantage of the amazing views.
A stacked stone wood-burning FP, large flat screen TV, entertainment center and piano are in the living area. Three more gas FPs are in Bedroom 1 (Master), the Study, and Bedroom 6 (Guest Apartment/Game Room).
Bedroom 1 (Master) has a king. BRs 2,3,4 have Queens. BR 5 has two Single Bunks. BR 6 (Guest Apartment/Game Room) has a Queen pull-out Sofa plus a Double Bunk down with a Single Bunk up. All bedrooms and the Guest Apartment have flat screen TVs with digital HD cable.
There are 6 full baths. The Master Bath has a steam shower and large Bay view soaking tub with air jets.
Adjacent to the Bay front deck is a large pool, large heated spa with jets, diving board and water slide.
There is a large sandy beach and a dock with a boat lift, two jet ski lifts and davits -- so you can bring your boat and jet skis. An elevated Play House and swing set are attached to a huge maple tree. There is a large enclosed outdoor shower, gas grill, large 2-car garage, and a basketball court.
HD cable TV, internet, WiFi and free telephone service within the USA are provided. Maid service including new linens, lawn service, & pool service are provided weekly.
Located on a very private point at the southwest tip of Kent Island, only 15 minutes to shopping and restaurants. It is 35 minutes by car to quaint and historic Annapolis, 1:15 to downtown Washington D.C., 1:00 to Baltimore's Inner Harbor, and less than an hour to quaint towns on the Eastern Shore including Easton, St. Michaels, Oxford and Chestertown.
This property cannot be used for weddings or wedding related functions, rehearsal dinners, brunches, showers etc., or for other types of parties, gatherings or events. Only the persons staying in the house may use the property. No pets and no smoking.

Wonderful home and getaway on Kent Island
Wonderful home and getaway on Kent Island
We had a terrific stay at this lovely home at the tip of Kent Island, Maryland for the last week in August. The home is very well laid out -- plenty of space to find a quiet spot, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, fabulous pool, large grassy area for outdoor games, and miles of shoreline to explore in the kayak or by bike. It was clean and had plenty of towels, games, TVs -- everything you could want for a getaway. Many places to explore in the area, but we really just enjoyed spending time relaxing and watching the amazing variety of birds on the water. It was easy to set up and check-in worked out well. We have nothing but the highest praise for our experience.

Great house and setting
Great house and setting
The house and grounds are every bit as nice as the photos. The setting on the water is super. The house and grounds were immaculate upon our arrival and the furnishings are of high quality. The pool and screened in eating porch were particular draws for our extended family. It was helpful to have a nearby neighbor to help with check in and questions throughout the week. The house is somewhat remote so trips to the grocery store or restaurants take 15 minutes or more. Since we had a number of small children we were happy to stay put and eat on the porch overlooking a sunset on the bay.

Perfect home and location
Perfect home and location
Everyone in our family was wowed by the home and location. Almost every room had a fantastic view of the Bay. The home was spotless and offered every convenience that anyone would need. The owners had thought of every detail to make this a special vacation. They also included a comprehensive book on everything that you would need to know about the home and the surrounding attractions. The layout of the home offered excellent space that suited everyone. There was an area for quiet reading or study, a place to take a nap in the hammock, a separate apartment with pool table and plenty of space for everyone to congregate for games and eating. There were several eating areas within the home and an inviting screened porch for morning coffee and playing cards in the evening. The focal point of the exterior was the pool, spa, water slide and diving board. There was no need to use the beach other than to play horse shoes or launch the kayaks. We did force ourselves to leave the property on two occasions to sample some local restaurants and were very pleased with what we found. At the end of the week it was the overwhelming consensus of everyone in our family that this was one of our best vacations. We would definitely recommend it to anyone who would like to avoid crowds, relax and totally enjoy The Point of it All.

Beautiful Property for Vacationing
Beautiful Property for Vacationing
Our family and friends had a very relaxing week at The Point of it All. The location provides a panoramic view of the Chesapeake Bay, the Bloody Point Lighthouse and a parade of huge ships along with the expected numerous sailboats and crab boats. The house takes advantage of the view and is obviously cared for very well. It was immaculate when we arrived. The owner met us and took us through the property, explaining how to use the sound system, TVs, etc. He also provided an informative book of information about the area, restaurant recommendations with menus, maps, emergency numbers, and useful information about the property. While there are neighbors close by, you do have a sense of privacy with the way the house is situated on the lot. My favorite room was the screened-in porch. We had several meals out there and enjoyed the views of boats, sunsets and several types of birds ( great birdwatching spot!) while feeling the warm breeze and hearing the lull of the water on the shore. Very relaxing spot to enjoy a meal or a glass of wine with friends. The house has very comfortable furnishings, plenty of cooking utensils and dishes, if you plan to cook while there. If you plan to eat out, figure in a bit of travel time, as this spot is rural and you have to drive to most shopping or eating spots. The master bathroom has a wonderful steam shower and a large whirlpool tub. Our kids enjoyed using the bikes provided and the kayaks, on calm days. We had a lot of strong winds the week we were there - which provided dramatic views of the water and sky, but limited how often we could get out on the water. Unfortunately, the heating unit for the pool and spa was not working when we arrived. The owner tried to have the unit fixed, by having parts shipped overnight, a repairman there frequently, etc., but the heating unit needed to be replaced. We never had the use of the spa/hot tub during our stay, but the pool was usable because it heated up a bit from the sun during the day. The owner has offered to refund some money as compensation for the loss of use. While that was a disappointment, we still enjoyed staying at The Point of it All and had a few fun excursions to St. Michael's, Annapolis, the zoo in D.C. and an afternoon at Wye Mills, touring the working grist mill. We would stay here again, if we were going to be in the area and we'd have no problem recommending the rental to friends. It is a gorgeous well maintained property.

Owner response: As soon as we learned the pool/spa heater could not be repaired, we ordered a new heater on an expedited basis. Delivery and installation could not be completed in time for this guest to heat the spa during their stay, so we made a partial refund for the inconvenience. The system is now working normally. --Brian
