  My fiance, now husband and I stayed here in May 2012. We came to St. Croix to get married. One good thing about the property, amazing views. The house looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages, There were dust bunnies behind doors and hanging from lamp shades. There was a two inch deep hole in the tile, in the living area. We had to pay extra for air conditioning, per room. When we arrived, only one room air conditioner was working. The next morning, Mother's Day, Management showed up smelling like beer. He dropped off a portable a/c unit, and then left. We were unable to exhaust the heat from the unit, so it was worthless. Called him again, and he became annoyed with us. He then came and opened the other available room, with a working a/c unit. That evening, I attempted to use the stove. It wouldn't function. We then had to call again, management came back out, only to find an electrical/fuse problem in the fuse box. When it rained, the entire house flooded. The windows had no seals and the main room roof poured water.. We had to use every towel in the house to soak up the flood. A local asked us where we were staying, we told him Breakers Villa, and he then chuckled. He proceeded to ask if the roof in the main room still leaked. He said he used to co-manage this property and it's been an issue for awhile. The day we checked out, we left negative feedback and he called my father in law and yelled at him then told him we were not welcome back. We had fulfilled all check out obligations, yet they kept the pet and security deposit. It's a joke. You can stay somewhere else in the same neighborhood for half the cost.

  Owner response: This renter is in violation of paragraph E of the signed rental agreement as we have a Non-Disparagement clause that the renter agreed to. The renter is stretching the truth a bit on the villa flooding. We state that this villa is only 100 yards from the ocean. A home this close to the ocean is similar to living on a house boat as during heavy rain storms the wind will force the rain through the windows on the ocean side of the villa. We have no control over WAPA power which did cause a power surge which effected several of the a/c units and the circuit breakers had to be reset on the range and oven. The guest paid for two bedrooms and in an attempt to try and remedy the situation the caretaker opened the 3rd bedroom for them to use. This villa is very popular with back to back bookings throughout the year so the housekeeper has very little time between bookings which resulted in some dust being missed which was taken care of right away. Unfortunately, I did not learn of any of these problems until after departure when the caretaker mentioned that the renters fiancé threatened him with bodily harm and was verbally abusive. If we had known this at the time we would have asked the renter to find other accommodations as the caretaker was fearful of life while attending to these guests needs. The renter left the villa in very poor condition which required excess cleaning.

  We ended our tour of the Virgin Islands on Saint Croix and were beyond happy with our time at The Breakers. We found everything we wanted and more! We are world travelers and found the accommodations at The Breakers exceptional. We loved sleeping with the windows open and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean. There is a wonderful breeze right off the ocean, we didn't need to turn on the A/C at all. The beach access made for great walks on the beach each day. We found lots of sea glass to add to the collection at the villa. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and on the grill. The kitchen labels made it easy to find and put things back in a house we were not familiar with. We went exploring at Cane Bay and Columbus Beach. We also drove out to Point Udall. The island has a lot to offer, although we didn't see much need to ever leave the house, we had everything we needed right there. We would definitely recommend this villa to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Saint Croix.

The last 2 days of our stay the home had a bug treatment & pool was cleaned. We felt these could have been accomplished after we were gone. Overall the place was great and we enjoyed our stay!
