- Greenpoint is the northernmost neighborhood in Brooklyn, adjacent to Williamsburg. Both Greenpoint and Williamsburg are lively, trendy, vibrant neighborhoods with countless bars, cafes, restaurants, vintage clothing stores and original boutiques. There are also many live music venues and rooftop bars and restaurants with breathtaking views of Manhattan as both neighborhoods are located along the East River waterfront (across the river from Manhattan). As a practical matter, all essentials are within a five-minute walk of the property: subway, library, park, playground, the biggest public swimming pool in NYC, grocery stores, YMCA, post office, private gyms, natural food stores, pharmacies, florists, medical offices, dentists' offices, day spas and nail salons. The closest subway is the G line (Nassau Ave. stop), about 2 minutes' walk away, or the L line (Bedford Ave. stop), about 15 minutes' walk away. There is also a ferry to Manhattan nearby. Depending on where one is headed, a trip to Manhattan will take 20 - 30 minutes. The neighborhood has a mix of many ethnic backgrounds and this is reflected in the wide variety of restaurants and places of worship in the area. By any measure, Greenpoint is one of the coolest neighborhoods in NYC!...moreless

Greenpoint walk up
Nice quiet neighborhood close to subway, restaurants and local shopping. Short walk to Bedrord where the action is. Kitchen was clean and well stocked.washing machine was nice but a clothes line would be a great help. Sofas and bedspreads are stained & should be cleaned or replaced. Bathroom tiles need to be regrouted

Owner response: Thanks for the comments, we have taken note regarding the sofas, bedspreads and regrouting. There is a folding clothes rack in the dining room closet for drying clothes, for future reference.

Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: J. and Isabelle have been married since 2004 and welcomed their son Elwood to the family in July 2012. Isabelle is a French speaker and grew up all over the world, eventually settling in New York City in 1998. J. grew up in the New England countryside and arrived in New York City in 1997. Both of us enjoy gardening and travel, music, yoga and swimming. We live in the duplex apartment underneath the rental property.
Why the Owner Chose Brooklyn:
Having both spent several years in Manhattan, we made the switch to Greenpoint, Brooklyn in 2004, for more space and because of the burgeoning arts movement here. Since we arrived, there has been an explosion of new buildings, cafes, shops, restaurants and bars in the area. After years of renting, we found the house and fell in love with it -- the location can't be topped and we are thrilled to have a garden to enjoy!
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
The house dates from the late 19th century and has so much 'old New York' charm. We love its high ceilings, spaciousness (a rarity in NYC!) and peacefulness. The street we live on is two minutes from all the best our neighborhood has to offer, yet it is quiet and tree-lined.
